Creative Confetti: An Attitude of Gratitude!

Hello stampers! It's time for another Creative Confetti Challenge -- where we throw up a bit of inspiration for you to enjoy to share a little inspiration! And today, I not only have a challenge to share, I have a brand new Power Poppy image to share as well! This one is all about giving thanks. What a perfect week for that kind of message!

HOW TO PLAY:  Simply share a card or creation with a message that shares your gratitude! It's just that simple! Just like all Creative Confetti Challenges, every month we take the entries on our linky and draw a random winner at the end of our month-long challenge. The winner gets a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop! Wooo hoooo!

Just like I mentioned, I am showing off a brand new image from Power Poppy. In fact, Marcella drew it this afternoon! That's how fresh this new illustration is! Let me introduce you to Bittersweet Thanks!

This image comes pre-sized for an A2 card AND an 8.5" x 11" — print a few off for folks to color while waiting to eat. Or print it for yourself to color during precious Thanksgiving downtime! And, on top of this new image, Marcella is offering all fall-themed digital downloads - including this one above - at 50% off! No code needed! Just click HERE to check out the autumnal bounty for yourself!

On to my creation!
What's wonderful about this illustration is that it is sized super large for a coloring extravaganza or is also designed to take up the front of a card. Well, I decided that I wanted to make a mini card, so I sized it to be just 2" wide and about 2-3/4" tall. I have to say it is a little bit smaller than I should have gone but I do love how this little card turned out! I took a normal A2 size card and cut it in half so that it measured 4-1/4" tall and 2-3/4" wide.  After I colored up this image with Copic markers, I used a 2-1/2" circle punch to cut out my image. I printed out 6 to a page because it's my hope to color up all of these and create these mini notes so that I can write "Thanksgiving Love Notes" to my family and put them all on their plates as we sit down to eat. :-)

I rounded some corners on my card and used a scalloped die cut to add a little pizzazz to my creation along with some decorative paper and... ta-da! Done!

Here's a little closeup so that you can see the image just a wee bit better!

And that, my friends, is it! Now it's your turn to color up some gratitude and then, once you're done, link up your creation below so you are in the running for the $25 Gift Code! Keep in mind, we run the same linky all month long so play along with me just one week or each week to expand your chances of winning! We can't wait to see what you color up!

Happy Stamping!

Creative Confetti - Let it Snow!

Hello! I am hosting the Creative Confetti Challenge this week and with all the brand new sets just released by Power Poppy, I thought I'd be great so showcase scenes from winter!

HOW TO PLAY: Create a snowy scene or a winter-inspired project.

On to my creations!

I confess that I am using my projects from the new release, because, well, the new release took up a lot of time! And, we may as well get double the fun of looking at it right?

My first card fits the theme perfectly...a snowy scene! With the NEW Cuddle in the Cabin stamp set, creating a snowy scene is so EASY! Just stamp (or print the digital version) and color!

After I colored the image, I used some white paint to "splatter" the whole project, thus creating a snowy night!

How about a different style of winter scene? I used the images from the NEW Season's Greenings set to create a little scene. I used the digital images of Santa and his wheelbarrow to create this scene. For this version, I give the illusion of snow without actually coloring any snow! I simply created a "blotchy" background with pale blue Copic markers and then added a few white enamel dots to look like snow (or snow balls). When you look at the card, you see a snowy day!

For this card, I again did not actually color snow, but give the illusion of a cold, snowy day with the pale background and the addition of tiny dots of paint. I stamped the bear from the NEW Forest Fellas set and colored him with Copics. He looks like he is standing in the snowy outdoors, doesn't he?

This last project shows another way to portray a winter theme without actually having snow in the scene! I printed the digital versions of the Enchanted Branches: Nativity Angel set and the ornaments from the Enchanted Branches: Woodland set. I colored everything with Copics, then I used various distress inks to create a "frosty" background. I also added some glitter pen and some glitter enamel dots. Your eye sees a winter's day, but...look, no snow!

I hope you enjoyed my versions of the challenge for this week! If you want to join me and show off some of your Power Poppy Projects, please be sure to share what you come up with by using the linky below! Every entry -- no matter what the week -- is thrown into a virtual hat for our random drawing at the end of the month for a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop!

Have a great week! I can't wait to see what you create!

Creative Confetti: Just Color!

Hello sweet and sassy stampers! Are you ready for another Creative Confetti Challenge -- where we throw up a bit of inspiration for you to enjoy and hopefully be inspired by? Well, it's that time and this one is good for the soul! In fact, if you've been watching Power Poppy's blog lately, you know the Bloomies are busy getting ready for part two of our Quiet Christmas Collection release. So, my sweet stamping friends, all I have had time for right now is what this challenge suggests -- Coloring!

HOW TO PLAY:
Just color up one of your favorite images and show us all the progress shot! So, why take us up on this challenge? First of all, if you are the random winner at the end of our month-long challenge, you'll win a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop! But above that, and that's pretty darn awesome, there are physical benefits to coloring! Yep, there are! Your brain enters a meditative state when you color throwing off the day's stress and anxiety! Negative thoughts are put aside, helping you to be mindful of the moment. It helps us unplug! So, you're welcome! ;-)

On to my coloring creation!

This little image above is a part of a new set that will be released this week called Seasons Greenings! The second part of Power Poppy's Quiet Christmas launches THURSDAY! Squeeee!!!! When it comes to this set, you know Marcella loves her plants and all things green, so this one features images perfect for that green thumb! I just love this one and all the fun things stuffed in that vintage wheelbarrow! I used Copic markers to color up this image and used so many, there was no way to keep track. Do you ever do that? Just grab what you think you need and then go over it and pick up another marker and keep on going? Well, that's pretty much how I color every image.

Do you ever use a corner of your paper to test drive colors? I always seem to end up with marks just like this on every finished image! ;-)

Of course, when I was done, I needed to add a little white gel pen to accent the shiny things and a little glitter glue for the snow! You'll have to tune in this week to see how this image worked its way into a card!

Okay stampers, now it's your turn to color up some love and then, once you're done, link up your creation below so you are in the running for the $25 Gift Code! Keep in mind, we run the same linky all month long so play along with me just one week or each week to expand your chances of winning! We can't wait to see what you color up!

Happy Stamping!

Creative Confetti: Let there be peace

Hello all! While I know we have some international fans, for most of us, today is a day when our right to vote will be honored. In light of that, I thought we'd do what we do best here on the Power Poppy blog -- usher in peace. We have beautiful gifts that we share with our time, our talents and our love for each other. So, let's take this day, push any negativity surrounding it to the side and let our hearts be light. That's what today's Creative Confetti Challenge is all about -- Peace!

HOW TO PLAY: Make a card or creation that gives you peace - maybe it is the coloring process, maybe it is the message, maybe it is the image you used or the person you plan to send the creation to. Just be sure to share in your post why this card gives you peace. We all need that right now!

On to my creations!

Instead of share a new card, I decided to dig into the vault of creations to share those cards that I have made in the last year with a peaceful message and vibe! Like I mentioned above though - your card doesn't have to use Peace as a sentiment, it can just be colors or imagery you find peaceful!

I created this card above using Power Poppy's new set Heavenly Peace Dove. I just love the imagery and think it is so powerful not only for the holidays but, quite honestly, right now!

This creation was done using Power Poppy's digital stamp set Handmade with Love Tags. I blew up one of the images to really capture that darling deer. I love, love, love this image and had so much fun putting this creation together.

This is an oldie but goodie creation from last holiday season using Power Poppy's digital stamp set Season of Serenity.

And this last card was crafted using Power Poppy's digital set Sunset Sway. I love the pops of red in amongst all those pastels and the soft bits of shading around the image.

So, there you have it folks! A little parade of peace for you to hopefully spark a little inspiration for this week's challenge! I can't wait to see what you come up with and what you find peaceful. Let's let this beautiful craft we love wash over the web with all kinds of good vibes. What do you say? :-)

MOVING ON....with this being a new month, it's time to see who won our Creative Confetti Challenge for October! So, let's get right to it, shall we? We put all the cards in a virtual hat to draw from and after all the entries were in, random.org drew the number.....

That means our winner is.....

* * * * HEATHER MILLS! * * * *

Heather played along in our Birthday Wishes challenge and created this darling scene to help someone "Party Like a Pirate!" I love it! If you want to see more of Heather's creations, all you need to do is hop on over to her blog HERE. There's a lot of fun bits of creativity there!

Heather, to claim your prize, all you need to do is email us at bloom@powerpoppy.com and we will get your winning code right to you for $25 in the Power Poppy Shop!

So, get those fingers inky and usher in a little peace within your heart or to be given to someone you care about! I can't wait to see what you create! Creative Confetti: Emboss Like a Boss!

Hello friends! It's Tuesday and that means it's time for a brand new Creative Confetti challenge! When I dreamt up this challenge, I wanted something easy and in my head, I kept seeing splashes of white on black. I have no idea why - it might have been that cool pine cone wrapping paper that I saw while out shopping. Not sure. But when all was said and done, I had white embossing powder everywhere and stacks of black paper at the ready. So, fine folks, here's your challenge for this week!

HOW TO PLAY: Just as simple as it sounds - make a card using either heat or dry embossing! Let your creativity flow!

On to my creation....

I started by stamping one of the main images from Let Your Heart Be Light using Versamark ink and then embossed using white detail powder. Then, using a few different shades of red and green, I colored up my image using colored pencils. I used one of the sentiments from the set and used that along the bottom. Add a little strip of red card stock, a red ribbon and a bit of bling and that's all there is to this card! I like to keep my holiday cards a little on the simple side because as you know - the paper flies when you need to create as many as we do!

Here's a close up for you!

So, do you want to "Emboss like a Boss?" Join me this week! Every entry is one more shot at winning a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop! So, get those fingers inky and let's have some fun this week! Once you're done with your creation, don't forget to link up your creation below!

Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Confetti: Birthday Wishes!

Hello friends! It's Tuesday and that means it's time for a brand new Creative Confetti challenge! Can you believe we're easing into the middle of October already? I love October for a few reasons but my favorite reason is that it's my birthday month! My birthday was Oct.11 and my husband and I headed to one of my favorite places in Alaska - Seward. It's a wonderful little town and I love escaping to there every year.

So what does this have to do with Creative Confetti you ask? Well, let's get a birthday card made this week! I always seem low on birthday cards in my stash so now is the perfect time to get one or two added to the pile.

HOW TO PLAY: Create a birthday card, it's that easy!

On to my creation....

Since I have a fall birthday, I decided to use an autumn-themed image on my card. I went with a pumpkin filled with flowers, an image found in the Season's Seatings digital set, which you can find HERE.

I brought my copics and image with me on our trip so I could color at the end of the evening. Thankfully, I usually print out 2-3 copies of the same image so I can have several on hand and that turned out to be a good thing. The dreaded marker blob happened as I was getting to the end of my coloring on the first image I started. Needless to say, my husband heard me utter some colorful words and then I grabbed the backup image I had brought with me.

Does the layout look familiar? I used the layout from Julie's Creative Confetti Sketch on Sept.29th, which you can still play along with!

I was going to put my sentiment on the front but after hemming and hawing about it for a while I finally decided to leave a sentiment off the front and I added it to the inside of the card instead. The birthday sentiments I used can be found in the clear set Party Time. This set is retiring but you can currently still grab one HERE at a discounted price!

Want to join me this week? Simply create, post and then link up using the linky below! As we always say, if you get those fingers inky and play along, each and every link is an opportunity to win a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop!

Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Confetti: Sketch It Out!

Hello all and happy Tuesday to you! Today, I thought I'd do something I love and offer up a brand new sketch here on the Creative Confetti Challenge! It's always a good time when you can just try someone else's layout design, take the guesswork out and just color and create!

HOW TO PLAY: All you have to do is create using the sketch below. Use Power Poppy Stamps  if you have them but if not, this is a great way to try to win some Power Poppy goodness! Just that simple!

Let's take a look at the sketch....

And now, on to my creation!

A few weeks ago, I followed along with Nancy Sheads as she colored up an image from the Holly Golightly setI love her Inspire Me Monday coloring videos. It's just so peaceful to have a coloring companion! ;-) You can CLICK HERE to see this tutorial for yourself! She shares what Copic Markers she uses as she goes, making it super easy to pause, grab the color and then hit play and follow along.

After I was done coloring, I used a stitched edge circle die and matted it on top of a few layers of different decorative paper, add a little doily, some twine and... ta da! Done! The little tag sentiment features a portion of a sentiment from the stamp set Simple Joys.

Here's a look at a closeup of my card front. You can see, when I was all done, I did add a little sparkle thanks to a Wink of Stella Glitter Pen. Gotta have a little sparkle!

So, there you have it folks -- that's my take on a brand new sketch! I hope you join me for this week's challenge!

That means the winner of the September challenge is.....

SUSAN SUDBURY!

Susan created a beautiful card for our Free For All Challenge using Power Poppy's Chickadee in Barberry digital stamp!  Check it out! And, if you want to see more of her creative process, all you need to do is click HERE to hop on over to her blog!

I love how she used an effect to create the look of snow falling in her background. Amazing! Susan, to claim your prize, all you need to do is email us at bloom@powerpoppy.com and we will get your winning coupon code for $25 in the Power Poppy Shop to you!

Want to join me and take this little layout for a test drive? Please, get those fingers inky and be sure to share what you come up with by using the linky below! Creative Confetti - Colors of Fall!

Hello and welcome friends to Happy Tuesday!
There are a few things I truly miss when we go to Florida for the winter -- the cooler days and the wonderful colors of the leaves! Yes, there is plenty of color in Florida all year long, but the seasons don't compare to the ones that we have in the north. The wonderful colors of fall just beg to be used on a project. And that's what this week's Creative Confetti Challenge is all about!

HOW TO PLAY: For this week's challenge, let's see your fall colors on your entires! I've provided some fall colors for you above and I'd love it if you gave them a try but really, any hues of fall will do!

For my project, I choose the digital stamp from Power Poppy called Pumpkins and Pears. It is on sale right now and you can find it HERE

Pumpkins and Pears Digital Stamp Set

On to my creation!

Finishing the inside gave me an opportunity to stamp and color up some leaves. Often, I wait until I have a need for a card to stamp on the sentiment. This one could be a Thanksgiving card, or a Hello, or even, How have you been? card.

I printed this image on Copic-friendly paper by Hammermill (100 lb), in the no-line version digital stamp. Then I used my Copic markers to color it.

Here's a look at the Copic Markers that I used to color up my image:

  • YR18, YR 15, YR21
  • YG95, YG93, YG91
  • E37
  • C0, C1,C2,C3,C4

I also used the die from Simon Says Stamp called Frames.

I hope that you join me this week? Simply create, and then link up using the linky below! As we always say, if you get those fingers inky and play along, each and every link is an opportunity to win a $25 gift code to the Power Poppy Shop!

Until next time!
