Being able to come up with new ideas using language and other communicative modes is Important for English Learners. Research shows that nonlinguistic forms, when coupled with language, build students self-esteem, improve student literacy learning and level of engagement (Guichon & McLornan, 2007; Wei, 2011; Newfield, 2011).
