Police investigates daylight robbery and stabbing incident

POLICE INVESTIGATES DAYLIGHT ROBBERY, 1 SUSPECT
SHOT AND IN CUSTODY

Nassau, Bahamas - According to reports, shortly after 11:00am, Monday, 24th September, 2018, a man was about to enter the Royal Bank of Canada in the Prince Charles Shopping Center, when he was approached by a male who robbed him of a number of deposit bags before getting into a Toyota Passo with another male. As they were attempting to flee the area, they were confronted by Officers from the Bahamas Department of Corrections. The driver of the vehicle attempted to hit the officers with the vehicle, when one of them, being in fear for his life, produced his service weapon and fired in the direction of the men, hitting the driver. The second male made good his escape into a nearby residential area.  The injured suspect is in stable condition, under heavy guard in hospital. Several deposit bags were recovered. 

Investigations are ongoing.

POLICE INVESTIGATES STABBING INCIDENT

Police on New Providence are investigating a stabbing incident Monday, 24th September, 2018, which has left an adult female with injuries.

According to reports, shortly after 9:00am, a woman was standing at a bus stop on Farrington Road, when she was approached by a male who stabbed her about the body, before running away. She was transported to hospital and is listed in stable condition. 

A short time later, a man presented himself into the Central Detective Unit and was taken into custody in connection with this incident. 
Investigations are ongoing.

  • Keep vehicles locked, with the windows up at all times when parked at home or work.
  • Remove all valuables including purses, cell phones, laptop computers and other electronic items, gym bags and briefcases from your vehicle.
