#GriffithParkFire - Brush Fire; 05:15PM; internal:/; A well-coordinated air + ground assault on the flames halted the fire's forward progress at 3:30 PM PDT, to a total of ten (10) acres of grass and brush. While the flames are contained, with hoselines surrounding the fire, the blaze is not yet fully extinguished; The fire came no closer than one-quarter (0.25) mile northwest of the Griffith Observatory, which was not directly threatened by flames; Police & Park Rangers skilfully coordinated a calm and orderly evacuation of more than 2,000 people from the Observatory and nearby park areas; There have been no injuries and no persons are unaccounted for; A few parked private vehicles did sustain fire damage; The occupants of the vehicles left behind at the Observatory, who were guided by foot to safety at the Greek Theatre, are now riding shuttle buses back to their vehicles from the Greek Theatre parking lot; While they will be allowed to safely exit, the roads and trails closest to the fire remain closed to the public; NOTE: Tonight's Sylvan Esso concert will proceed as scheduled at the Greek Theatre, with gates scheduled to open at 6:30 PM; Attendees should allow extra time and patience in traveling to the show; Additional details regarding the concert can be found at: https://www.lagreektheatre.com/ - - Firefighters will remain at the scene tonight; The cause of the fire remains under investigation; - Brian Humphrey
