On Friday evening, July 22, 2022 this lightning strike to our front yard happened. Let me share what happened and then I’ll get to the MEAT of the story!
My husband and I had finally finished up our dinner FAST because it had been thundering and lightning for about 20 minutes but ZERO rain – those can be the worst as the air is supercharged with electricity which is palpable. Our noise reactive, thunder phobic Carolina Dog Ezra was barking and howling no matter what we did to calm him (he always does during these). So after a NOT very relaxing dinner, we began the clean up during more barking and howling – it’s hard to both watch him go through this and to live with it also. I had just finished saying to Ezra, “It’s just thunder!” and then 
BOOM a loud thunder clap, then the lightning flash! Suddenly it felt like lightning was all around us IN the house. Yes, we ALL hollered, howled, barked LOL. King our American Bully was barking, Ezra howling, I screamed, and Donnie yelled. It’s comical in hindsight but definitely NOT during it.
To pause for a moment, I had begun layering various oil blends onto both dogs, King and Ezra, starting with Valor (I use only Young Living), then T-Away made specifically for calming animals, and I even tried the aromatic “ear muff” R.C. blend. Ezra paces around barking and howling and it’s really sad. We’ve tried flower essences (both Bach remedies and specially created blends by a friend of mine), essential oils (as I’ve mentioned lots of times here on this blog – I created a WishList of these oils I’ve just mentioned ), CBD, and also calming WholeTones Music. At night I usually put Rutvala and White Light blends on Ezra which he’s used to and those two seem to help him calm at night as does the music. However, in this situation nothing helped. What does help him is if I sit with him and hold him, but he doesn’t always let me hold either – I believe it’s the supercharged electricity in the air that is the most frightening to him. During the July 4th LONG weekend, we alternated sleeping on an air mattress with him and gave him a CBD chew (which he’d only eat if it was wrapped in meat lol, smart carnivore that he is). He slept fine through the night because he was wrapped up with me and under my blanket even though it’s not cold, it blocked the light flashes from the fireworks which our blinds don’t totally accomplish. I was the one that didn’t sleep well! Okay so back to our story…
Shortly afterwards our neighbor called all excited saying he was in his garage when it hit so he ran out and saw a dust cloud in our front yard and said he thinks it hit our tree (a desert willow).
When Donnie went out to investigate, our neighbor was taking photos lol. The one posted here I took the next day. That lightning hit the yard, dug a trench straight to the tree and then dispersed – nothing happened to the tree! All our lives in the high desert of NM (well Donnie since he was six) and we’ve never had this happen to us.
The next day my very good friend Breanne showed me a pic where lightning had struck a tree at her house in Indiana and split it, plus another friend, animal chiropractor Dr. Erin O’Connor had a “small” tornado hit in her area in Chicago and a tree was split. She said it was a torrential downpour of rain which soaked her so badly her shoes squished all day at work – which she thought was funny. All of us had this happen the same day but in different states. I know lightning is active all the time, but what are the odds of three of us who know each other have this happen in the same day???
I know for us, it was a heart pounding, scary situation. The very next night we had lightning, thunder (AGAIN) and a downpour for four hours so I was up with Ezra half the night holding him, singing to him (only my dogs can like that hahaha) and telling him stories of some of my dogs before him lol – yes it calms him. I was talking with God too a LOT. What a weekend that was.
And while I was writing part of this yesterday, ANOTHER loud, thunder, lightning, downpour hit us. I’m working to be much calmer during these storms so that it translates to Ezra. He’s so noise reactive with thunder phobia on top of it. I know it also has to do with the electrical charge in the air as I’ve already stated. I know there is a total solution which I’m pressing in for – and YES it is a solution from Heaven. Speaking truth, speaking life over him. I’ll get into that as time goes on more and more as it I know it’s an assignment for me AND others to share. I am in fact seeing more followers of Jesus sharing similar things for at the least dogs since they are the ones we notice the most in our homes with this type of reactivity.
In closing, I want to share what came to me in a newsletter yesterday in part, written by Kathi Pelton of Inscribe Ministries:
“While we were in Boston on July 22, 2022 for the 722 TURNAROUND with Jon and Jolene Hamill, Dutch Sheets, Chris Mitchell and Adam Schindler, as worship began, I was taken into a vision where I saw the Lord holding a lightening bolt. As he held it, he took it and bent it into the shape of a boomerang. He then threw it from where we were meeting at the historic Faneuil Hall, into the nation. I immediately knew that he was signaling the turnaround decree and his verdict for our nation out of Daniel 7:22 which says,
“…the Ancient of Days came and pronounced judgment in favor of the holy people of the Most High, and the time came when they possessed the kingdom.” I heard the Spirit of the Lord say, “It is time to recover all!”
