The perp was identified as Clayton John Callahan.
Callahan, as it turns out, is the communications director for the Democratic Party Of Washington County, which a suburban county just west of Portland.

The Oregon Women For Trump organization attempted to hold a pro-Trump event on Sunday, October 4th, only to be interrupted by a knife wielding maniac who was threatening them.
The perp was identified as Clayton John Callahan.
Callahan, as it turns out, is the communications director for the Democratic Party Of Washington County, which a suburban county just west of Portland.

The altercation was captured on video. Callahan was booked into jail on Unlawful Use Of A Weapon charges.

I always took the Clint line about his 44 blowing the guys head “clean off” with a grain of salt until the day I caught a critter eating off my freshly shooting young grape vines. Hit it with a 44 Magnum wadcutter in my Winchester lever action from about 20 feet. Now it didn’t “blow it’s head clean off.” But what did happen was its head just vaporised and all that was left was one ear and a piece of skin attaching it to its neck.

I own a few revolvers in .44 Remington Magnum. But, the only pistol caliber lever action, that I have, is a Henry Big Boy in .41 Remington Magnum, which matches up rather well with a Ruger Blackhawk.
People always question my war on raccoons. But, since you mentioned grapes …. My wife had been picking a quart or so, every day, of ripe grapes … awaiting most of them ripening. One morning, every single grape … all of them (probably around two bushels) were totally gone. Raccoons struck again. If I were to have died, I don’t believe that she would have wept nearly as much.
Although, I haven’t used anything more than a .22 rim fire so far, I might try either the .44 or .41 for my next one.

That’s wise advice. I believe that is taught in hunter safety classes. Back when I was in my late teens (fifty years ago), I actually taught 4-H hunter safety.
They’ve been preaching that for many-a-year.

1 inch magnum shotgun slug from a Winchester Defender model works well or if you have any model double barrel, two slugs at once WILL mess up your shirt. Ear plugs recommended.

Firing two rounds, at the same time (double trigger models only) can easily throw a fine double off face. Unless you’re playing around with some cheapie Brazillian or Turkeyland double, it’s best not to do so. Who cares if you ruin some Made in Turkeyland CZ?

Never “draw down”. Courts have taken that as a reason the “retreating” was viable.

Unfortunately, Nohio (special emphasis on the “No”) is not on that list. Neither is Iowa, a state in which I own property.

Under the castle doctrine, gun owners are allowed to use force in their homes or vehicles to defend themselves against intruders. The new Ohio self-defense law not only affects future deadly force defense cases, it also has repercussions for those already charged with a crime.
2307.601 No duty to retreat in residence or vehicle.
(A) As used in this section:
(1) “Residence” and “vehicle” have the same meanings as in section 2901.05 of the Revised Code.
(2) “Tort action” has the same meaning as in section 2307.60 of the Revised Code.
(B) For purposes of determining the potential liability of a person in a tort action related to the person’s use of force alleged to be in self-defense, defense of another, or defense of the person’s residence, if the person lawfully is in that person’s residence, the person has no duty to retreat before using force in self-defense, defense of another, or defense of that person’s residence, and, if the person lawfully is an occupant of that person’s vehicle or lawfully is an occupant in a vehicle owned by an immediate family member of the person, the person has no duty to retreat before using force in self-defense or defense of another.

The Ohio self-defense law isn’t nearly a “stand your ground law”. Twenty-seven states have codified “stand your ground” into law, and, in another seven, “stand your ground” stands in practice due to past court precedent. Ohio residents currently have no duty to retreat only when they are in their home or vehicle.
Stand Your Ground Legislation has been introduced, but little mikki da-whiner has promised to veto it.
He’s back to pushing his Red Flag Law.

The state would have to prove that you didn’t have the right to lethal self defense even when outside of your home or vehicle. Your Nohio is still better than NY, NY, CA and IL.

In a situation, as shown in the video, there was ample opportunity to “retreat”. Not good enough. If somone approaches you, carrying a lethal weapon (knife, hammer, hatchet, pipe, etc.) you should have the legal right to blow them away before they can take another step.

In Maryland, you would be arrested for having a loaded gun in your car. It is ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to get a carry permit in Maryland. The DemoKKKrats are a majority and have control of the “state police”.
As I was told by a policeman about getting a permit; “You don’t like the law —- change it”.

Just because someone is adjudicated as guilty and doesn’t like the verdict … that is not grounds for an appeal.
