California’s Gavin Newsom Bans Gas-powered Vehicles, Effective 2035

California Governor Gavin Newsom announced Wednesday that the state will ban sales of gas-powered vehicles, effective in 2035. Newsom said that the “audacious” goal was necessary to achieve the state’s goal of 100% renewable energy by 2045.
Newsom said that his new executive order would “eliminate” the sales of “internal combustion engines” and move to electric vehicles — a move that he said would create jobs and allow California to “dominate” the market, and address climate change. Those who currently own gas-powered vehicles would still be allowed to operate them and to sell them on the used market.
2035 happens to be the same year that former Vice President Joe Biden has set as a deadline for the U.S. to eliminate fossil fuels from electricity production, five years later than originally proposed by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex (D-NY) in her “Green New Deal.” Ocasio-Cortez led the climate change panel on the “Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force” earlier this year.
Newsom cited ongoing wildfires, as well several recent record-breaking high temperatures in the state, in explaining his push for “ambitious goals” — though he did not explain how reducing local emissions would affect global climate enough to affect local temperatures. California currently emits 1% of the world’s carbon emissions despite being the sixth-biggest economy.
He called the new policy an “opportunity to transform” the state’s economy, and touted the global market for zero-emission vehicles. He did not explain why the state had to ban gas-powered vehicles rather than allowing the market to operate.
Newsom said that automobile manufacturers would have to think about whether they could “look their kids and their grandkids in the eye” if they failed to produce zero-emissions vehicles that could help reduce global carbon emissions.
He also slammed those who were in “denial about science, denial about facts” regarding the human role in climate change.
Newsom concluded by observing that the state had gone from “the what to the why, and now we need to focus on the how.”

When Kalif-fornia started having brownouts and blackouts, due to their switch to wind and solar power ….
All of a sudden, arsonists appeared and started setting forest fires. Of course, the fact that roads and forests were not managed, and dead trees weren’t allowed to be cleared (cannot manage forests … we must simply allow nature to take its course) has NOTHING to do with the arson’s fires spreading.
Then, global climate change is the fault. Therefore, we need more wind and solar, so that the population cannot have reliable sources of energy …. and, we can set the arsonists to work.

Before Obama was President he sat on a Board in Chicago setting up for the EE…..Al Gore flew to London where he had set up an EE…..if that had happened….the Globalists would have made Zillions of dollars selling back and trading all of the energy made in plants that our tax payer dollars built.
There would have been rations….unless you were willing to buy more. It was set up like a stock board where if you didn’t need as much you could sell it back….if you needed more you could buy more…..but the kicker was, you had to pay an additional fee for the “exchange.” Just like the stock market.
In Vegas where I lived at the time, they went around trying to change out our meters that told them when we were home and when we were gone….they could do that from their office….Big Brother.
Those of us who refused the privacy invasive “meters” had to pay an extra $8 a month…..because it required someone to come back and actually read the meters.
Looks like Gavin and the crooks are up to it again. Last time it was electricity…this time it’s going to be gas wars and FEES…..
Why don’t you people in California -at least the ones who haven’t abandoned it- just go ahead and saw your state off into the ocean……then you could be an island unto yourselves.

It isn’t cost effective either. The landowners out here collect $500 per month per location for those wind generators.
The current they produce is DC and has to be run through a converter facility to get to AC.

I doubt the US is selling any OPEC countries oil. I’m not sure if the USA is consistently exporting more oil products than its importing but it did for at least a few months in 2019:

It’s moronic to just say ‘i want electric cars’, and think they will magically happen. First he needs a LOT more electricity, second, what’s he gonna do with all the extra gas? There’s only so much diesel fuel in a barrel of oil, the rest is other, lighter hydro-carbons. Like oils, gas, and solvents.

For people who are sooo conscientious about the environment that they want “green” energy, it’s really strange that they don’t actually care about the environmental cost this “green” energy has on the environment… from killing wildlife to ruining habitat to the pollution and the energy cost to make the equipment needed for this energy… and then add to that, all that smoke and greenhouse gasses from all those fires… and our reduction in pollution output counter what mother nature puts out? What a joke! Too bad it isn’t funny!

Emperor Newsom has allowed used gas vehicles to remain past 2035. Watch for Emperor’s Used Car lots to open across the state. Many of the Used Cars will have minimal miles as they will have been purchased new in the years before 2035. Replacement parts will be at a premium creating a parts machining industry like Cuba. Backyard distilleries will be set up to make auto hooch. So much opportunity for Third World entrepreneurialism and enhanced regulation by government. Everybody loses. The Communist ideal has been achieved.

OVERLOOKED! Oil is being constantly produced by activities deep within the earths mantel . In pre industrial times it bubbled and seeped and many cultures gathered it for medicinal uses. If the oil is not pumped and is sealed in the ground it could result in pressure fractures and even earthquakes. If carbon fuel use is stopped the reduction of the CO2 and dusts will allow more of the suns power to reach the earths surface causing ‘global warming’ The laws of unintended consequences are immutable.

I had a beautiful home in a wonderful location in N. California but moved to fl about 15 years ago when Sacramento started giving their used state owned vehicles to the indigent along with fuel and service vouchers instead of auctioning them off. The insanity of that hit me and I decided to move to a lower tax state. But thankfully, almost everything I buy warns me of the cancer dangers that Calif. wants me to know about.
