Hezbollah was taking Beirut ammonium nitrate to produce weapons: Source

By Al Arabiya, August 13, 2020:

Story continues below advertisement

Hezbollah had been slowly siphoning off the ammonium nitrate that was stored in the port and ignited in a deadly blast in Beirut to manufacture missiles and rockets, according to a security source and a source close to the organization.

A warehouse containing 2,750 tonnes of ammonium nitrate exploded in Beirut on Tuesday, killing at least 171 people, injuring thousands, and destroying much of the city.

In the wake of the disaster, observers have questioned why such vast quantities of highly explosive material was left in Beirut’s port, so close to the densely populated city center.

According a former high security source who spoke to Al Arabiya English on condition of anonymity, the ammonium nitrate remained at the port for years because “it was being siphoned off for military purposes by a third party.”

This statement was also later confirmed by a source close to Hezbollah commanders who specified that the product was being used for missiles and rockets war heads, which were sent by Iran to Lebanon and assembled locally in the Hermel Region by Hezbollah. Back in 2017, the French Intelligence Online magazine had already reported that Hezbollah was constructing two underground facilities in Lebanon for manufacturing missiles.

This picture taken on August 9, 2020 shows a Lebanese flag flying along a bridge near the port of Lebanon’s capital Beirut, while in the background are seen the damaged grain silos opposite the blast site of a colossal explosion due to a huge pile of ammonium nitrate that had languished for years at a port warehouse. (AFP)

“Lebanese security services also received American warnings from US envoy David Satterfield about the existence of two missile assembly plants, in South Lebanon and the Bekaa,” added the high security source, who explained that weapon shipments were transferred on regular basis into Lebanon via the port as well as over the country’s land borders.

Israel has systematically targeted Tehran’s shipments to Hezbollah transferred into Lebanon via Syria, striking the Lebanese party hundreds of times across the border.

According to the security source, a variety of organizations had control of the port: Customs, the General Security, the army’s intelligence services and more recently the State security. The US Treasury has nonetheless accused Hezbollah of controlling many of Beirut’s port facilities.

“Certain sections of the Port and the airport are used for smuggling military shipments to Hezbollah,” a source close to Hezbollah fighters told Al Arabiya English on condition of anonymity. The former security source pointed out that terminal 5 was a transit point for the party in the Beirut port. The port remains also a lucrative business for all of Lebanon’s corrupt elite.

USA Threatens To Veto Useless UN Peacekeepers In Lebanon
https://worldisraelnews.com/us-threatens-veto-of-un-peacekeepers-in-lebanon/

“’We should have taken decisive action long ago to protect the integrity of Resolution 1701,’ said U.S. Ambassador to the UN Kelly Craft. The U.S. has generally supported the UNIFIL peacekeeping force while also criticizing its failure to prevent Hezbollah, a Lebanese political party and terror organization, from further establishing a military presence near the Israeli border”.

The UNIFIL was set up in 2006 to stop the Israel-Lebanon war that started after Hezbollah attacked Israel. Israel was bombing the shht out of S Lebanon, so President Bush arranged a ceasefire. But since then, UNIFIL has let Hezbollah acquire 180,000+ Iranian missiles, and install missile launchers in S. Lebanon houses. And now Hezbollah is threatening to attack Israel again, because Iran is desperate, and Hezbollah has had half its Iranian budget cut.

That brick-red smoke is rocket fuel. Explosive experts agree it’s a lithium-based propellant used in solid-fuel rockets. The grey-white smoke is something else, and ammonium nitrate was also stored there. There are underground chambers under the building remnants, and Israel has identified several other Hezbollah weapons storage locations near the Beirut waterfront and airport. The FBI is now on scene, and Hezbollah is worried they will lose their 180,000+ missile stockpile.

Iranian foreign minster Javad Zarif visits Lebanon today to beg to let Hezbollah stay in government, but most of the rescue funding is conditional on Hezbollah being kicked out of government. The Lebanese government has resigned, and now sits in a caretaker role with Hezbollah still in majority.

Hezbollah leader Nasrallah gives a speech today, but he has already admitted that they get 100% funding from Iran, and cash-strapped Iran has cut their funding half. Other countries sent relief flights to Lebanon, while Iran sent planes that seem loaded with weapons.

Depends on the type of rocket . If its WW2 technology like the Katyusha they can launch them in volleys – unguided..

I’d hope the Hezbollah muslums only have access to unguided rockets as opposed to SRBM’s like the Scarab-B (OTR-21B). I also hope a significant proportion of their arsenal was destroyed in the recent explosion.

Maybe, but I doubt it. Muslims hate too much for that.
But the Israeli-UAE diplomatic agreement is a positive step in the right direction. So thanks, all involved.

“Tradition!” The story goes back to the Triangle Shirtwaiste Fire and the labor movement that followed. Labor linked up with the Democrats and the rest is history. Unfortunately, the other Democrat connections have been forgotten, such as the KKK, so they will keep on pulling the “D” lever until some light shines in. The rats will leave Manhattan before that happens.

i knew this the second the explosion hit the internet. of course it was an explosives depot to be used by muslims to murder jews. and i have no doubt the jews detonated it after years of warning the muslims that they would take care of it if the muslims did not.

Most of the people that I have seen being interviewed after their lives and homes were wrecked appear to be Christians with Christian sounding first names.
I think the source of the explosives should be investigated more closely.
The Russian ship that was impounded so the materials could be confiscated and stored/stockpiled, was it really intended to be classed as unseaworthy? How hard did the original owners try to recover their goods?
There are suspicions.

The Lebanon has been a Christian land since soon after the Christ walked through the Holy Land and to desert it would be a tragedy of civilisation and a sign that we have given up to the devil. Which surely can Never happen.

The Lebanese Druze and Christians did fight. There were Druze and Christian militias fighting a civil war against the muslum bastards seeking to take over Lebanon, but they lost decades ago and it very well could have been because of political pressure brought by the degenerate, decadent, morally bankrupt atheist West against Israel supplying these Druze and Christian militias.

I remember that conflict well. The most vicious of urban warfare and one that reduced their cities to the rubble similar to the aftermath of that recent event. The Christians of Lebanon were let down badly by the western powers and it’s a wonder that they still survive

Apparently it had been stockpiled for years there – so i think that says alot about anyone actually trying to recover their ” cargo ” sounds like a feint to me.If they were concerned about the explosive nature of the cargo and confiscated it for ” security / safety ” reasons – why was it still in the port vicinity which was heavily populated.I served on an Ammunition ship in the Navy and they are kept FAR away form major civilian areas for just such an event/ “accident”

Anybody run the numbers, yet? 2750 Tons is like 5,500,000 pounds (short tons) or six million pounds (long tons). Since this is a metric area, I’ll go with the long tons. Ammonium nitrate is about 50 cents a pound, plus shipping, so it looks like about three million dollars, FOB for the shipping. Where’s the money coming from? The stuff weighs roughly 50 pounds per cubic foot; so that would be 120,000 cubic feet. So, if it was stacked 20 feet high, that would be 6000 square feet or 40×150 feet, or roughly half the size of an American football field. That’s pretty big. How did something like that go on without being noticed? Who was paying for the storage? Lastly, in the video, I think there was a helicopter dropping water on the fire. In 1947, the Texas City disaster was triggered by an attempt to flood a burning ship carrying ammonium nitrate with water. That was when it was discovered that ammonium nitrate could be explosive.
