‘It’s crystal clear Hezbollah are in charge of the port and warehouse’: Leading Lebanese politician blames terrorist group and ‘corrupt’ government for catastrophic explosion – as aerial images reveal blast even sank a cruise ship

  • Bahaa Hariri, 54, has said everyone in the city knew that Hezbollah controlled Beirut’s port and airport
  • Blast has threatened to reignite anti-government protests in Lebanon that have been ongoing since last year
  • At least 137 people have so far died, with some 5,000 wounded, 300,000 homeless, and widespread damage
  • Investigators say 16 employees of Beirut’s port have been detained and 18 questioned in total

A leading Lebanese opposition figure has blamed Hezbollah, along with the country’s ‘corrupt’ government, for the devastating explosion in Beirut which capsized a cruise ship and has so far claimed 137 lives.

Bahaa Hariri, whose father, Prime Minister Rafiq, was assassinated in 2005, said last night everyone in the city knew Hezbollah controlled Beirut’s port and airport and it was inconceivable that the authorities did not know the deadly ammonium nitrate was stored in a warehouse there.

Speaking for the first time Mr Hariri, 54, said: ‘The question we have to ask is how come for six years this combustible material was allowed to remain in the middle of this city of two million people?’

‘It is crystal clear Hezbollah are in charge of the Port and the Warehouse where the ammonium nitrate was stored.
‘Nothing goes in and out of the Port or the Airport does so with them knowing. Nothing.

‘Their decision to put it there in the middle of a city of two million people was an utter disaster. And now we have a destroyed city centre.’

The explosion on Tuesday night, which was the size of a small nuclear bomb, has left at least 137 people dead and a further 5,000 wounded.

There are now thought to be 300,000 left homeless and wide-spread damage estimated at up to $5billion – including a 120-metre long cruise ship which capsized as a result of the blast.
A military judge leading the investigation into Tuesday’s blast said 16 employees of Beirut’s port, where the explosion took place, had been detained. He said 18 had been questioned, including port and customs officials, according to the state news agency.

But while investigators focus on port officials, many Lebanese put the blame squarely on the political elite and the corruption and mismanagement that even before the disaster had pushed the country to the brink of economic collapse.
Cypriot police say they have questioned a Russian man over alleged links to a ship and its cargo of ammonium nitrate said to have caused the devastating explosion.

The explosion has threatened to reignite anti-government protests in Lebanon that have been ongoing since last year amid allegations of entrenched incompetence and corruption.

Emmanuel Macron offered France’s support for the Lebanese people as he visited Beirut on Thursday, but warned the country would ‘continue to sink’ unless its leaders carry out reforms.

Hezbollah controls the majority of ministry positions in Lebanon, and Aoun, the president, is technically a Christian, but he is a Hezbollah puppet. Trump has applied strong economic pressure on Lebanon, to dump Hez from power. Their currency is now worthless, they defaulted on their public debt in April, and poverty is now endemic. Last night, demonstrators tried to storm the Lebanese parliament.

But Hez is still in control, 100% financed by Iran, and still constantly threatening war with Israel.

Lebanon is now a muslum majority state, as such, it will never be a friend to Israel or the free world because the fascist, antisemitic ideology that is islam is incompatible with such goals.

16 Detained in Beirut Blast Investigation
https://www.theepochtimes.com/16-detained-in-beirut-blast-investigation-report_3453352.html

“Judge Fadi Akiki, a government representative at the military court, said Lebanese authorities had so far questioned at least 18 Beirut port and customs officials, as well as individuals involved in maintenance work at the warehouse.”

The Beirut harbor master sent multiple warnings to the Hezbollah-controlled government about the danger. Now they arrest him.
Rule # 77: Never get someone to investigate themselves.

Better a muslum state gets smoked/burned/blown-up than what the eventual target was for these munitions: Israel. This is just another case of premature jihadulation.

I also was considering what group actually was most affected by the blast, where the Christian enclaves in Lebanon are located. While the”war” is technically over, death and even worse destruction continues.

They have a history of minimizing enemy casualties, not doing mass civilian hits. Besides, all they had to do was wait. Arabs have a history of blowing themselves up. Fireworks factory, ammonium nitrate, corruption, Hezbollah – hell, all they had to do was wait.

The Lebanese public will have to get their guts up and ride Nasrallah out on a rail and take the Iranains with him. If not Lebanon will continue to be a failed state and the misery meter will go off the charts.

that’s why i love american imperialism, we make the world better wherever we take over. i say we should invade lebanon, build the biggest air force base on the planet, and rebuild beirut as the paris of the middle east with an american flag flying over it. the alternative is allowing iran to turn it into mogadishu.

Nice dream but only God can deal with that as many muslims are coming to Christ as they are sick of murderous Islam and it was only other week hezbullah tried and was spotted trying to enter Israel as they were probably going to use either a tunnel or the cruise ship to set off this bomb in Israel and been amassing troops so the army are involved up to their necks with the terrorists planning an invasion!

Time for them to buck up and defend their own country. Why should should OTHERS have to do it if they don’t care to do it? I am tired of the U.S. military being used as unpaid mercenaries and not appreciated.

when you say “hezb’allah” you are saying “iran”. this explosion and the thousands killed and maimed by it can be laid at the feet of jimmy carter and the democrats, who threw the shah under the bus and gave us the muslim nutcases who now run persia, terrorize the world, and who have killed and maimed tens of thousands of american soldiers and civilians over the last 40 years. also, the muslim aka as barry soetoro gave them pallets of our money 4 years ago to help them build a nuclear bomb. tehran should be been turned in a smoldering pile of bricks in 1979, and maybe trump will finally get around to ridding the world of those pests during his next term

No one threw the Shah under the bus. The Shah had been diagnosed with cancer before he abdicated. He was in no position to resist the Ayatrollah’s forces or their Communist allies because the cancer was already well advanced. Shortly after he abdicated the Shah left Iran to get cancer treatment abroad. He didn’t live more than a year or two after he abdicated.

Carter and CIA played a role, although likely documents documenting their actions likely were shredded decades ago. Carter forced the Shah out, or at least stopped supporting him and his regime due to human rights abuses, and made it possible for the Ayatollah K. to return from exile in France.
The Iranian people chose the Ayatollah to be their country’s leader, and the Ayatollah and the Revolutionary guards have run the country since.
The CIA reportedly didn’t have a clue.
CIA had installed the Shah’s regime many years before, so Iranians hated the Americans.
Thousands of Iranians were killed by the regime which didn’t tolerate political dissent.
American foreign policy, especially under the Carter administration, was a disaster.

No one forced the Shah out, he was DYING of cancer. There was no regime to support. The Shah should’ve appointed a successor BEFORE he abdicated. It’s obvious the Ayatrollah enjoyed the support of a large proportion of Iranians (as well as the Communists).

This explosion was probably not intended but maybe not all the 2750 tonnes was still there. Assad needed plenty of explosive materials for his barrel bombs and Hezbollah could have been getting another batch ready to sneak over into Syria when they got it wrong.

His father (former muslum PM of Lebanonistan), brother (also muslum and recently PM of Lebanonistan) and he had no problems w/his fellow f’ing muslums bombarding Israel with Iranian knock-off Katyusha rockets from 2007 to 2015 — they certainly did nothing to stop it. I’m sure if the NH4NO3 had been successfully used against Israel as intended he wouldn’t have had any problems with that either. Ongoing persecution of Christians has hardly been problematic for his tribe of rich muslum bastages either.

They definitely meant to be used on Israel’s Haifa port and of course the terrorist hezbollah were responsible and didn’t care how many Christians could die as Iran funds them 100% Those people killed were innocent ordinary folk and of course there must’ve been a few terrorists who accidentally committed a pre mature eruption who are now in front of God whose wrath will give them a fear of God and been judged . Lebanon was Christian TIL they agreed a power share which led to a war and Christians massacred for their kindness and good will and since then it’s become another Arab hellhole run by terrorists who grow fat while normal folk go hungry and no work plus corona , may God wrap his arms of comfort for the bereaved and add the number of dead to Jesus martyrdom army who will accompany Christ when the word of truth in the form of a sword cuts down the wicked amen

The NH4NO3 certainly could have been packed into multiple cargo ships and an attempt made to get into the port at Haifa, but they could also have packed the NH4NO3 into many, many, many trailer trucks or panel trucks or vans and used them on Israeli checkpoints as well. Or even packed them into tunnels dug under Israeli checkpoints. I’m just glad the muslums blew themselves up before they were able to initiate any of their plans.
