Chicago shootout at funeral sends at least 14 to hospitals, police say

A horrific shootout outside a funeral home on Chicago‘s South Side Tuesday night wounded at least 14 people, police said, in the latest chapter of violence gripping the big city.
“All we saw was just bodies laying everywhere,” witness Arnita Gerder told WMAQ. “Shot up everywhere, all over. Legs, stomach, back, all over the place. We thought it was a war out here.”
An SUV was traveling on 79th Street around 7:30 p.m. when people inside opened fire on funeral attendees, the Chicago Police Department’s First Deputy Supt. Eric Carter said during a news briefing.
The attendees exchanged gunfire with the vehicle, which sped off before crashing a short distance later. The people inside that vehicle ran off in multiple directions, Carter said.
Police were interviewing one person of interest but no arrests have been made and the shooters were not immediately known, police said. The victims — all adults — were taken to five separate hospitals. At least nine were listed in serious condition, the Chicago Fire Department told local media.
The victims included at least four women between the ages of 24 and 38, one of whom was shot in the chest, police said. Other victims include a 40-year-old man struck in the chest, arm, and forearm, and two men, aged 32 and 22, who were shot in a hand.
The person in custody was not injured during the incident, according to Carter. No other information about the victims was available.
Police said the shooting happened at or near the site of a funeral or post-funeral event for a man fatally shot last week in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago.
Officers found some 60 shell casings at the scene. It was not known if the two groups had interacted with each other prior to the shooting or if the gunfight was gang-related.
“We saw a car with about six bullet holes in it and it was turned facing the grass like he lost control. We saw a hat down on the ground and evidently it was his,” Kenneth Hughes, told WMAQ.
Gerder and Hughes told the station that everyone shot appeared to be wearing white.

Let’s think about this, PRETEND engineer.
Democrat governor. Democrat mayor. Democrat state. The local authorities control this. Moreover, constitutionally, they’re responsible for it.
How is this the current administration’s “proof that Trump’s America is a failure” the administration’s fault?
I find tremendous fault with Trump, not bringing HARD FACTS to the public, such as for every ONE black, that is murdered by a white, there are THIRTEEN white human beings murdered by blacks. And, as far as violent interracial crime goes … TEN times more perpetrators are black v white than white v black.
The president needs to bring these FACTS to light, to the American public. The FACT that blacks are hunting down innocent white human beings and killing them where they find them.

The author said shells. Pistols and rifles have cartridges. The external jacket of a cartridge is a casing.

One must consider the author. This article wasn’t written for The American Rifleman. How many people, many of which are gun owners, refer to a round of ammunition as a bullet? When they say that they’re “running low on bullets”, do you ask them if they’re well set for brass, primers, and powder?

Mayors threaten to sue the President if he orders in the National Guard to
keep the peach. Thousands of dangerous criminals are being released form
Jails were it seems there is no record of a COVID death, and law abiding
citizens if they pull out guns in self defense against rioters are charged with
attempting to defend themselves.
The 2nd Amendment was created to ensure we the People could remove such
politicians by force.
