Shots fired from one vehicle into another on a Chicago street killed a 20-month-old boy sitting in his car seat, according to reports.
placeholderThe drive-by shooting Saturday afternoon in the Englewood neighborhood marked the second time in a week a young child had become an innocent victim of Chicago’s tragic gun violence.
“It seems like just yesterday, it was actually last Saturday, I was in front of you all talking about a 3-year-old that was killed in the Austin community, and now here in Englewood, a 20-month-old was killed,” Chicago Police Chief of Operations Fred Waller said, according to CBS 2 Chicago.
“This is happening far too often,” he said. “Too many times children are killed by senseless violence, and not only just children but grownups also. When is this going to stop? When are we going to say enough is enough?”
A 3-year-old boy, Mekhi James, was also the victim of a drive-by shooting. He was sitting in a car his father was driving when he was struck.
Police said the toddler was shot in the chest. A bullet grazed his 22-year-old mother in the head.
They were driving home from a laundromat.

Seven shots were fired at her vehicle, according to police.
Detectives believe the boy’s mother may have been targeted, the station reported.
Waller said detectives were working “feverishly” to review video footage from nearby cameras, and to canvass the area for witnesses.
“No doubt we’ll catch the person who did it. We’ll catch the person who killed that 3-year-old. We’ll catch the person who killed this kid. But that’s not going to bring that kid back, and that’s not going to satisfy that family,” Waller said.

A hardworking father killed just before 1 a.m.
A West Side high school student murdered two hours later.
A man killed amid South Side looting at a cellphone store at 12:30 p.m.
A college freshman who hoped to become a correctional officer, gunned down at 4:25 p.m. after getting into an argument in Englewood.
While Chicago was roiled by another day of protests and looting in the wake of George Floyd’s murder, 18 people were killed Sunday, May 31, making it the single most violent day in Chicago in six decades, according to the University of Chicago Crime Lab. The lab’s data doesn’t go back further than 1961.
From 7 p.m. Friday, May 29, through 5 a.m. Monday, June 1, 25 people were killed in the city, with another 85 wounded by gunfire, according to data maintained by the Chicago Sun-Times.
In a city with an international reputation for crime — where 900 murders per year were common in the early 1990s — it was the most violent weekend in Chicago’s modern history, stretching police resources that were already thin because of protests and looting.
“We’ve never seen anything like it at all,” said Max Kapustin, the senior research director at the crime lab. “I don’t even know how to put it into context. It’s beyond anything that we’ve ever seen before.”
The next highest murder total for a single day was on Aug. 4, 1991, when 13 people were killed in Chicago, according to the crime lab.

Prof After 20,000+ Signatures

A petition to fire Cambridge professor Priyamvada Gopal, who was promoted after tweeting that “White Lives Don’t Matter. As white lives”, has been removed by Change.org after receiving over 20,000 signatures.
Professor Gopal posted her provocative “White Lives Don’t Matter. As white lives” message around the same time as Burnely Football Club supporter Jake Hepple had a banner reading “White Lives Matter Burnley!” flown over a match at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, shortly after three white people were stabbed to death in Reading, England.
Hepple was fired for the stunt, with Blackpool Airport and the local government authority which operates it also saying they were “outraged” by the banner and branding its message “offensive”.
Professor Gopal, meanwhile boasted that the University of Cambridge — which defended her right to express “lawful opinion”, although it has previously cut ties with academics attacked by left-liberal mobs — had actually promoted her after the controversy around her tweet.
More than 20,000 people had signed a Change.org petition calling for her to be fired for what it described as “racist and hateful” statements — before it was taken down.

Professor Gopal has taken a combative posture throughout the ongoing controversy, insisting “I stand by my tweets, now deleted by Twitter, not me”.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary have indicated that it is their position that Professor Gopal’s tweet, specifically, “does not constitute an offence” — but they are “investigating all reports into the racist and threatening abuse that Professor Gopal has suffered”.

Not a Dem run city that is not in the crapper. I should be a paid consultant. The crime rate will definately go up with sanctuary cities, defunded cops, fewer cops, cops without non lethal means to control a crowd. I.e. Batons and teargas. No stop and frisk laws, BLM running amok, un controlled borders and last but not least: Democrats running cities or much anything else.

Shut down the roads leading into Chicago, Detroit, Baltimore, LA. No one in or out. Then the Blue Flu added to the mix. Wait one or two weeks and let the residents work it out. I’m certain the survivors will rethink their idiotic dream of a policeless state when the roads are open and the police return.

Do they really care that Floyd died at the hands of a sadistic bastard? No. If they did where are the protests regarding black on black killing (93%), or the executions of black police officers.
