ESPN Hits Ratings Low, Sports Journalist Blames ‘Wokecenter On Steroids’ and Network’s Pivot to “24/7” Far Left Politics

11

Since the election of President Trump, ESPN has decided to stop covering sports entirely. They have become political. And since the tragic murder of George Floyd, they have elected to spew anti-police and anti-America propaganda. Well this is the result. You will likely see the same ratings crash this fall with the NFL. Like ESPN, the NFL will alienate millions of Americans when their players take a knee during the playing of America’s national anthem.

ESPN Hits Ratings Low, Sports Journalist Blames ‘Wokecenter On Steroids’ Not Coronavirus

By Daily Wire, June 15, 2020

ESPN continues to hemorrhage viewers, not due to a lack of sports amid the coronavirus pandemic, but because the network has become almost entirely political over the past few weeks.

Sports journalist and Fox Sports Radio host Clay Travis recently wrote that the network’s 41-year ratings low was not due to the coronavirus lockdown, but the network’s pivot to “24/7” politics. Writing as his website Outkick the Coverage, Travis explained that in the past several weeks, ESPN has become “more left wing than MSNBC and CNN combined” and “completely abandoned sports coverage.” He wrote that the network’s studio programming, which he called “WokeCenter on steroids 24/7,” reached “full on crisis mode level awfulness”:

“First Take” was the highest rated ESPN studio show all day, posting just 211,000 viewers. That was the 93rd highest rated program on all of cable. Putting those numbers into context compared to other shows airing the same day on cable: “Nick Cannon Wild and Out 15” on VH1 had 50% more viewers than ESPN’s top show. “Smuggler: Secret Stash” on National Geographic doubled First Take. Not to be outdone, “Craig of the Creek” on the Cartoon Network posted 200,000 more viewers.

Hell, even “Jay Leno’s Garage” on CNBC soundly defeated First Take.

Jay. Leno’s. Garage.

So did something called “Ant Anstead Master Mechanic” on a channel called Motor Trend, which I didn’t even know was a cable channel, much less a show.

In addition to “First Take,” other shows appeared to hit lows last Wednesday. “Get Up” had 136,000 viewers on June 10. Travis explained that the show has had terrible ratings days in the past, but that was the lowest he could find in the program’s history. Even SportsCenter viewership cratered last week, the highest rated show all day had 168,000 viewers. Travis wrote this was the lowest rating he had ever seen for that program as well.

Even “The Jump” suffered last week, with only 112,000 viewers despite the announcement that the NBA was returning. “Highly Questionable” brought in just 151,000 viewers, while “Around the Horn” had just 175,000 viewers, both of which were the lowest ratings Travis had seen.

Joseph Goebbels explains why ESPN is failing:
“This is the secret of propaganda: Those who are to be persuaded by it should be completely immersed in the ideas of the propaganda, without ever noticing that they are being immersed in it.” …
“Propaganda works best when those who are being manipulated are confident they are acting on their own free will.” – Goebbels
ESPN is failing because they are making their propaganda messages too obvious.

Last time I was in the doctor’s office I picked up a copy of Sports Illustrated and I couldn’t believe it was filled with such political garbage.

They offered me a year’s subscription at very little money. I never responded. It is nothing but liberal junk now. When you add in that there hasn’t been sports for months and won’t probably be very much in anything in the future, it is a waste of time and money.

I had a subscription to SI for about 40 years, got it my senior year in high school. About three years ago, when it was once again up for renewal, I declined. As you both stated above, the rag went downhill, and it went downhill FAST.

ESPN has swallowed this George (The freaking disgusting criminal is a saint) Floyd crap whole, and I am finished with them unless they wake up. They make me want to puke. I can’t watch them. What use will they be once the war starts?

I’m a huge sports fan, so I can’t say that. I haven’t been watching it very much lately. Especially Sportscenter.

The primary reason for this is that the NFL is over 70% black and the NBA is over 80% black. They should stop playing the national anthem.

Unfortunately for both, most of the money spent on memorabilia and jerseys DOESN’T come from black people. The people who also lay out the most money for tickets to see both AREN’T black people. I guess both sports better hope for tremendous overseas revenue, because they are going to lose a ton of it here.
