Despotic de Blasio: City’won’t come back,’ Feds must give us billions

42

The Democrats raped the city. Now they are keeping it closed until September. That’s why the city won’t come back. People are fleeing – and they will not return. The longer the lockdown, the bigger the exodus.

It is immoral and unethical to force hardworking Americans to pay for mismanaged, grossly negligent blue state socialist failures.

New York City needs a Republican in charge.

De Blasio: NYC needs billions in federal aid or city economy ‘won’t come back’

By Ronn Blitzer | Fox News May 18, 2020:

Mayor de Blasio: New York City will likely see more revenue losses without a stimulus

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio discusses why the state needs over $7 billion in the coronavirus stimulus package on ‘Sunday Morning Futures.’

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has claimed that his city requires $7.5 billion in federal aid to get back on track after being crippled by the coronavirus pandemic that has killed thousands of residents and shut down much of the city’s economy.

President Trump and other Republican leaders have resisted handing out too much aid out of concern state and local leaders are hoping to be bailed out of economic trouble that began well before COVID-19 ravaged the nation. De Blasio insisted on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” that this is not the case for his city, which needs the money to recoup losses needed to pay city workers.

NYC COUNCILMAN CALLS OUT CUOMO, DE BLASIO, ASKS FOR ‘URGENCY’ AND ‘REASONABLE GUIDELINES’ IN REOPENING

“That’s revenue that’s gone that pays for cops, firefighters, teachers, sanitation workers, it’s gone,” de Blasio said. “And there’s no way I’m going to get it back.” De Blasio said he expects even greater losses, and that the city’s economy “won’t come back without a stimulus.”

He claimed that the money would not be going to fix past financial errors, insisting that before the pandemic, the city was doing better than ever.

“You’ve seen what has happened in the city in recent years. Right before this pandemic, the highest level of employment in our history, booming economy, lowest crime since the 1950s, more and more kids graduating on time in our public schools than ever in our history, you name it, this city was moving forward.”

When confronted with a recent spike in shootings that have gone up 200 percent in the past week compared to the same time last year, de Blasio said, “the NYPD will fight it back,” and pointed to overall reductions in crime during his time in office.

New York has been especially hard when it comes to deaths in nursing home facilities, and Gov. Andrew Cuomo has faced criticism for policies that resulted in patients who tested positive for coronavirus returning to their nursing homes and spreading the virus.

“We all have to do better, there’s no question,” de Blasio said about the nursing home situation. “We’ve been providing protective equipment to those nursing homes. We’re going to do everything we can, this is a horrible human crisis.”

The mayor said that it is the state government, not the city, which “has the regulatory role” in that situation, but said, “we’re all going to work together to fix this problem because we owe it to the people in those nursing homes and their families.”

Gov. Cuomo is allowing beaches in New York to reopen in time for the Memorial Day holiday later this month, but de Blasio will not be permitting beaches in the city to be open to the public, except for locals looking to walk. The mayor said that to avoid overcrowding, there will be no swimming permitted, no lifeguards on duty, and fencing may be put in place to keep people away.

good riddance. nyc is a decaying relic that should be leveled. it’s an embarrassment to the rest of the country, with all those scaffolds and x-bracing along the sidewalks because the locals are too stupid or poor to replace the decaying and dangerous masonry falling on their heads.

The tax base of NYC and NYS should flee to Florida where they won’t get taxed to provide for illegals and welfare and corrupt politicians.

Florida has no income tax, lower sales tax, etc., and seems to balance their budget every year. Plus the local consumer price index is MUCH lower than in NYC/NYS.

Let BOTH NYC and NYS go belly up. The State however, cannot file for bankruptcy.

Nothing has changed with deep blue states.

BLUE STATE BANKRUPTCY
November 19, 2010

The mismanagement in New York is nothing new. The city itself faced bankruptcy in 1975 through 1977. New York was known for rolling blackouts, high crime, and failed governance. Mayor Abraham D. Beame had actually filed the bankruptcy paperwork, using the law firm of Weil, Gotshal & Manges, on the date of October 17, 1975. Beforehand, the city had gone to the Federal Government for a bailout, and President Gerald Ford had said no. Citing concerns about moral hazard, and the unintended consequences, Ford represented a bygone era of accountability and responsibility. A famous New York Post headline became iconic: “Ford to City – DROP DEAD.” (contrast with Democrat Jimmy Carter’s Chrysler bailout, Clinton’s bailout of Long Term Capital Management [LTCM was the first of the hedge fund bailouts, largely unknown, and the original TARP program], and you see that Ford was right).

New York survived that initial crisis when Albert Shanker, President of the United Federation of Teachers, agreed to use Union Pension funds to underwrite loans to the city to pay its creditors. An unholy alliance and a very telling one: the pension funds were underwritten by public money in the first place! Not the first government to borrow from itself, and certainly not the last.

Critics will contend that current crisis is different – state tax revenues are being affected by the worldwide financial collapse. True, and quite possible, but why are Blue states affected moreso than Red States? Especially New York and California, whose economies (thanks to tourism and global trade) should be the least affected by a global downturn?

The further left, the deeper the blue.

The answer is quite simple: left-of-center economics does not work.
Here is the prescription for disaster:

1) Pensions for public service employees
2) Teacher’s Unions.
3) State Government Employment.
4) HIGH Taxes.

“Socialism is great until you run out of other people’s money” – Margaret Thatcher.

and I would add:
The Late Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931 to 2005
“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

Characters like DeBlasio (not his real name) need to stop literally throwing money in the air and running out from under it with their wild and crazy spending habits.

Here’s a little advice. You can’t spend yourself rich. And the best way to always have money is to pretend you don’t have it.

Its not a case of New York Citry coming back its a case of getting rid of the Fascist Socialist De Blasio who destroyed it.
De Blasio declaring to his confidents that he would use the Pandemic to destroy Trump has backfired. It looks like DeBlasio used the pandemic to destroy New York…DeBlasio forgets that when Trump delegated the authority he said to them “I hope they dont blow it” (Knowig full well that the Fascist leftists would suicide over their own mishandling.

IF Fed Bucks are to be given,
Then Fed Dollars should be awarded to the actual PROGRAMS that need it, Medical, Firefighters, Blue Line,
Food, etc. NOT Gov.OR Mayor.. Let them Publicly Take it as an Insult.

Let the Public see that the President has the Peoples needs come first, NOT Political
Applause for Bad Behavior First, People second.
Show, that NY Leadership has failed them,But the President Hasn’t
That the President has lost all faith in the Demonic Duo.. But the ppl shouldn’t Lose because of them.

It can be Done. But The President Has to Revert to the Statesman that was Elected. And Stifle
The Career Politicians Around him
and DO what Is RIGHT, NOT what is Political

BTW, If The Presidents unabashed Love for N Y, is to Believed, Then, who could Blame him
for a rightful ANGER towards the PPL who have put it in Peril ?

I have no problem with lending NYC and NYS whatever they need to regain their economic viability but with one non-negotiable caveat. Trump, who knows more about the two entities than any man alive, gets the sole authority to appoint a trustee (Guiliani?) that will oversee the use of ALL city and state funds and whose authority cannot be contested by the city government, the state or the courts. In short, Trump gets to put NYC and NYC back on its feet on his terms and conditions. The same deal can be offered to all states and cities experiencing similar financial collapses (99.9% Blue). Now, De Blasio can put that offer in his pipe and smoke it!

One truth about Soialism usually overlooked is that it is entirely possible to run out of other people’s money. New York and NYC have personal income tax, and it apparently is not enough. I do not pretend to understand why anybody would live there, except that rent is cheap, if you have “rent control,” which limits how much a land-owner can charge to live on his property. (And the same law gives tenents specific rights as well).
So, de Blasio needs more money, but who does not need more money besides Bill Gates? We all do, but most of us live within a budget. De Blasio claims he needs money, but then gives away half a million Ramadan meals. He drank too much camel urine.

New York City has done the political equivalent of flushing the majority of the aid given during the C-19 Pandemic down the toilet with a full load on top of it.
To add further injury to the insult already given they are demanding the ~volunteers~ who rushed to give New York City aid pay income tax to New York City.
DeBlasio is INSANE. A common malady with many Demoncrats in power.
Instead of giving more money to New York City, and State, to squander it’s time to start weaning NYC off of federal dollars. The citizens of most of the rest of the country are fed up with the “New York Attitude” being displayed. So are many of the companies that have suddenly discovered they can survive just fine without all the baggage of doing business from a New York City base.
Question for DeBlassio: What are you going to do with the ever increasing amount of vacant office space and the soon to be vacant apartment space as the people who used to work in the office space figure out that they don’t need to live in your urban cesspool as long as they are Tele-workers?

Hell, I lost over $250K in the stock market bubble burst in the early 2000;s. I think I should get a bail out, too!!!! So, you progressive liberals that are smarter than everybody run the state and city of New York into the ground and you want the whole country to bail you out? Kalifornia, Oregon, Washington and Colorado are already lining up for the same thing. Open up your states and get the f*** back to work and stop sponging off of the rest of us. And keep your citizens, too. We do not need them moving to our states and bringing the same policies that ruined the state they came from to ruin every other state. They are so stupid that they cannot see that they are running away from their own misguided policies.
