How Many Americans Already Have Coronavirus Antibodies?

Nearly 3 million New Yorkers have had coronavirus, antibody study suggests

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo revealed Thursday that preliminary results from a coronavirus antibody study show the statewide infection rate is 13.9 percent, which would mean around 2.7 million residents could have carried the disease.

FOX News, April 23, 2020:

The 3,000 samples were collected from 40 sites in 19 counties, according to Cuomo, and suggested the infection rate is as high as 21.2 percent in places like New York City.

“These are people who were infected and who developed the antibodies to fight the infection,” Cuomo said. “They had the virus, they developed the antibodies and they are now ‘recovered’.”

The governor says the testing was conducted at sites set up outside places like grocery and box stores.

“These are people who were out and about shopping,” Cuomo said. “They were not people who were in their home, they are not people who are isolated, they are not people who are quarantined — who you could argue probably had a lower rate of infection because they wouldn’t come out of the house.”

Nearly 70 percent of the overall testing was done in the regions of Westchester, New York City and Long Island.

In Long Island, the positive rate was 16.7 percent, while the positive rate in Westchester/Rockland Counties and the rest of the state was 11.7 and 3.6 percent, respectively.

New York also reported 438 additional coronavirus deaths Thursday.

Here is a re-post of my take on this:
BOOM! 46 million in USA already had Covid-19
NY State finds that about 14% statewide have had Covid-19
https://www.foxnews.com/us/new-york-antibody-study-early-results
If 14% in the USA have had Covid-19, then that’s about 46 million who have had it.
And today 845,580 have been directly diagnosed with ever having Covid-19 in the USA. That’s far less than 14% of the population.
So if I divide 46 million by 845,580 = then there are more than 54 times as many Covid-19 cases out there in the USA than we thought were out there. This makes the Case Fatality Rate even lower than 1 in a thousand [0.1%], and the number of recovered cases is huge, probably about 45 million. Also, the percent of cases who are currently infected becomes less than 1% of all cases. This also means that the epidemic probably started in the USA in fall 2019, because it takes a long time to infect 46 million people.

I would also bet the people he is describing are young with no pre existing conditions. The virus seems to have little effect on the majority of people that fall into that category. Details matter!

Agreed. A term they toss around freely is “comorbidities”, the presence of two chronic disorders in the same patient.

Simply for comparison and nothing more, I divide the number of known cases into the number of deaths to get an amateur mathematical barometer in the way of a mortality rate on various locales.

The US is always a couple of percentage points or more below the rest of the world average and my home state of Texas is half the national average.

You can’t hang your hat on it, though, because the numbers change as rapidly as the stock index.

It is KNOWN that about 80% of those “infected” with Wuhan Virus have mild symptoms and do not even know that they were “infected” ….. so …… what ever “number of infected” the enemedia puts out, multiply that by 5 and you have the “actual estimated number of infected”. Then, divide that number of PROVEN WUHAN DEATHS (not the CDC numbers that include car accidents, heart attacks, & falls) to obtain the “percent mortality of infection”.
Better yet …. just take the number of dead and divide by the population in question …. that gives you the estimated mortality of the Wuhan virus.

Right now, there are 192,251 deaths, world wide, “attributed” to Wuhan virus, with a world population of 7,779,950,200 … that gives a mortality by population of 0.0025%

So far, this year, there have been
152,305 deaths by seasonal flur
13,308,324 abortions this year
96,762 mothers died giving birth
526,268 HIV deaths this year
307,073 malaria deaths
782,987 deaths by alcohol
335,708 suicides
442597 traffic fatalities

The ONLY reason that everyone is “panicing” is the media is telling us to …. WHY?
Think, people, stop being “good little sheep” and ALL “LAW ENFORCEMENT” needs to stop being “Good Little German Soldiers” … after all, the next time you may be herding the sheep into the ovens.

I had a really good manager who was fond of saying, “Don’t confuse me with the facts.”
