Democrat African-American Georgia rep who endorsed Trump RESIGNS, “Turn the lights off, I have left the plantation”

21

A man that thinks for himself despite the blowback and intimidation, is a force of nature, a silver cross to the sanguisuge Democrats.

The  Democratic state representative in Georgia, announced he will not complete his current term a week after he got blowback for endorsing President Trump, saying he is “leaving the plantation,” an expression popularized by African American Conservatives and Independents.

“I’m sick and tired of me and my family being attacked and harassed by the Democrat Party for putting my country before my party. I take pride in being an independent thinker. My first amendment right to freedom of speech is under siege,” Rep. Vernon Jones, who is African American, said in a statement released to CBS 46 in Atlanta. “I intend to help the Democrat Party get rid of its bigotry against Black people that are independent and conservative.”

“Turn the lights off, I have left the plantation. Someone else can occupy that suite. Therefore, I intend not to complete my term effective April 22, 2020. However, I will remain woke and vigilant in educating and fighting for my people,” he said in the statement.

The member of the Georgia House of Representatives also explained why he threw his support behind Trump.
“I endorsed the White guy (Donald J. Trump) that let Blacks out of jail, and they endorsed the White guy (Joe Biden) that put Blacks in jail,” he said.

Jones, who represents counties outside of Atlanta, said Trump is the “leader our country needed.”

Democratic Georgia rep who endorsed Trump resigns after backlash: report

By Tyler Olson | Fox News

Georgia Democratic state Rep. Vernon Jones announced Tuesday he is resigning from his seat after last week endorsing President Trump’s reelection — a move that quickly earned him backlash from Georgia Democrats.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Jones told The Rashad Richey Morning Show, a talk show in Atlanta, that despite his resignation he would not be leaving the Democratic Party because “somebody’s got to be in there to hold them accountable — hold them accountable to how they are treating black people [and] root out the bigotry.”

“Turn the lights off, I have left the plantation,” Jones said in a separate statement officially announcing his resignation, according to the Journal-Constitution. “Someone else can occupy that suite. Therefore, I intend not to complete my term effective April 22, 2020.”

State Sen. Nikema Williams, chairwoman of the state Democratic Party, issued a statement soon after Jones’ endorsement of Trump calling Jones an “embarrassment,” adding, he “does not stand for our values.”

Jones’ Atlanta-area district includes parts of DeKalb and Rockdale counties. Democratic parties in both counties planned to censure Jones for the Trump endorsement, according to the Journal-Constitution. Jones, after his original endorsement, told the paper that “President Trump’s handling of the economy, his support for historically black colleges and his criminal justice initiatives drew me to endorse his campaign.”

Jones seemed to foreshadow this Tuesday resignation in a Monday night tweet.

“I’ve seen more Democrats attack me for my decision to endorse @realdonaldtrump than ask me why,” he said. “They’ve used and abused folks in my community for far too long, taking our votes for granted. Black Americans are waking up. An uprising is near.”

After announcing his resignation, Jones fired off a handful of combative tweets touting Trump and attacking Democrats.

“I don’t care what the Democrat Party does to me,” Jones said in one tweet, apparently quoting himself on The Rashad Richey Morning Show. “What are they going to do? Spank me?”

He continued: “More African-Americans, prior to this pandemic, were working more than any other time in my lifetime.”

In a final tweet, Jones said that “[t]he left hates me because they can’t control me. They can stay mad.”

Jones also will not be seeking reelection, his spokesman told the Journal-Constitution. Jones has a long history in Georgia politics, according to the paper, including time as the DeKalb County chief executive. During that time he was accused of rape — he claimed the act was consensual and no charges were filed — and was later investigated by a grand jury for alleged corruption. The grand jury could not find evidence to prove a crime.

He’s also run for congressional office.

“I intend to help the Democrat Party get rid of its bigotry against Black people that are independent and conservative,” Jones said in the statement announcing his resignation, according to the Journal-Constitution. “I endorsed the White guy (Donald J. Trump) that let Blacks out of jail, and they endorsed the White guy (Joe Biden) that put Blacks in jail.”

Why didn’t he just switch parties? He’s the kind of REPUBLICAN we can put to good purpose!

Actually he’d be more helpful to the cause by changing the Democrat party from within. It has lurched too far to the radical Left, so good people like Jones can bring sanity back.

Don’t you think they are beyond hope unless there is a ground swell of opposition to Pelosi which is not likely? If they get well beaten by DT it might shake them out of their delusions. Well done Jones for being principled, he should put his shoulder behind DT

I was just getting ready to say the same thing. He could have followed in Van Horn’s foot steps. That would have done more to damage to the Democrat agenda than him just quiting office.
Maybe someone threatened his life if he pulled a “van horn” ?

A man with integrity and foresight. A man who realizes that the Democrats have not changed its old Party’s Plantation code or edicts. Will he cross the aisle? Only he knows, but a voice such as his would-be welcome. The racist Democrats have used, abused the Black communities for decades, while they, as did the preceding Democrats, maintain the old Plantation worldview.

He would have been more “brilliant” if he had changed parties.

He has not left the plantation since he did not leave the party. His time will be wasted trying to get them to change anything. He should have switched parties so he could do something useful.

He made a very strong and courageous statement.

He made a powerful statement that brought the wrath of the party down on him enough to resign his position, which is where he could have made a difference with his votes.
He said he intends to help the party get rid of its bigotry against blacks people that are independent and conservative. The party made him resign because of his opinion, so he is foolish to think he can change their bigotry by just voicing his opinion as a just a member of the party.

The Democrat Party is a domestic enemy tasked with murdering the USA from within. They are loyal to a foreign power. They rob us and poison us and murder us in every way, and they set the people up to fight each other, and they set the nation up to fight enemies across the globe that they enrich and empower and enable, using our money and technology, so the fights are as harmful as possible to us.

The Democrat Party is traitor and con that is losing its cover, so more and more people are seeing the true identity of the malevolent political party that has deceived and betrayed them forever.
