WATCH Trump Stumps ‘Far-Left Partisan’ Reporter Weijia Jiang With Question She Can’t Answer

President Donald Trump slammed a partisan, left-wing CBS News reporter on Sunday who has a history of making a public spectacle at the White House Coronavirus Task Force news conferences.
Weijia Jiang, the reporter who claimed without evidence that a member of the Trump administration called the coronavirus the “kung flu” to her face, rushed to the defense of communist China over comments that Trump made last week.
Jiang was mad over the following comment from Trump on Thursday: “I was angry because it should’ve been told to us. It should have been told to us early. It should have been told to us a lot sooner. People knew it was happening and people didn’t want to talk about it.”
When asked if he was talking about China, Trump responded, “They should have told the rest of the world too.”
Jiang launched into an attack on Trump over his comments suggesting that he knew how bad the situation in the U.S. was going to be, and did nothing to prepare America, which is not true.
“Many Americans are saying the exact same thing about you, that you should have warned them that the virus was spreading like wildfire through the month of February instead of holding rallies with thousands of people,” Jiang said. “Why did you wait so long to warn them? And why did you not have social distancing until March 16?”
“You didn’t warn people that it was spreading so quickly!” Jiang later claimed.

CBS NEWS REPORTER WEIJIA JIANG: Since you shared with us something else that you saw on TV today, I have a question about something you said Thursday, which was that you were angry because information about the virus should have been told to us earlier and a lot sooner. People knew what was happening and people did not want to talk about it. Many Americans are saying the exact same thing about you, that you should have warned them that the virus was spreading like wildfire through the month of February instead of holding rallies with thousands of people. Why did you wait so long to warn them? And why did you not have social distancing until March 16.
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: Who are you with?
JIANG: I’m Weijia Jiang with CBS News.
TRUMP: So, if you look at what I did in terms of cutting off or banning China from coming in.
JIANG: Chinese nationals, but by the way, not Americans who were also coming from China.
TRUMP: Nice and easy, just relax. We cut it off. People were amazed. These gentlemen. Everybody was amazed what I did. We had 21 people in a room. Everybody was against it but me. Dr. Fauci said [that] had I not done that, perhaps tens of thousands, and maybe much more than that, people would have died. I was very early, very, very early. And we just saw — you saw Bret Baier making a statement. They had a debate well into February and it wasn’t even mentioned, the Democrats. We were very early –
JIANG: You didn’t warn people that it was spreading so quickly! And by the way, when you issued the ban, the virus was already here.
TRUMP: Okay, and you know how many people, when I issued the ban? How many cases of virus were in the United States when I issued the ban? Do you know the number? How many cases were here when I issued the ban?
JIANG: But did you know it was going to spread and become a pandemic?
TRUMP: No, no, no. You have to do your research.
JIANG: On the 23rd of March, you said you knew this was going to be a pandemic.
TRUMP: I did know it … Anybody knew it. How many cases were in the United States when I did my ban? How many people had died in the United States?
JIANG: So, do you acknowledge that you didn’t think it was going to spread? Did you not think it was going to spread?
TRUMP: How many cases were in the United States — I did a ban where I’m closing up the entire country. How many people died? How many people died in the United States, and yet I closed up the country. And I believe there were no deaths, zero deaths at the time I closed up the country. Nobody was there. And you should say thank you very much for good judgement.

These people are expected to always find a negative, even if they have no basis for it, all to help the socialist Democratic Party control our federal government. They never report any “good” accomplishments of this administration. Watching CNN also is a constant reminder of their bias and evidence of their Trump syndrome, as they always find written negative commentary to place on the screen when discussing anything related to Trump. Boston and the cities just to the north are really surging, felix. It is hitting some “minority communities” pretty hard. The mayors of the “sanctuary” cities have been on the local news saying that a lot of their citizens are “undocumented”, therefore not quick in seeking help of any kind, even medical help. Because they are getting really sick, I will keep further comments regarding their status’ to myself.
The hospitals are being stretched. I hear Cuomo is sending some of his “spare” ventilators to MA to help us out. I have talked to some of the nurses that I have worked with who have volunteered to help out in the ICU’s….these poor people are really sick. They can appear stable in one minute, and go into severe and dizzying respiratory distress the next. This virus attacks the lungs with a vengeance….
The doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists (who are the ones working with multiple ventilators and patients at once) are overwhelmed but are really doing God’s work. These people are amazing !! This is what they do, and they do it fantastically well. I am humbled to work here amongst them….

What bothers me most is the tone of the questions by reporters. Most questions are valid, but when you keep asking the same question and getting the same answers, why not ask another question that would define the first one? Mr. Trump is out there day after day answering rhetorical questions.
And while that is a primary concern, I can’t help but mention the lack of respect these reporters sometimes display. Jiang is a case in point. She asks a good (?) question, but when she did not like the answer, she interrupted the president to argue a point. I would have removed her from the room, but I am not in politics.
My biggest criticism of the President is the one btween him and the press. I realize this started with an NBC/Telemundo reporter but amends must be made. Almost all of the news we get comes from them and they are showing us they can make or break a presidency. Though both the Clintons and the Obamas were fame whores, it served their purposes and furthered their careers even when the press should have been critical.
The Press is used as a weapon, and it has not been a stalemate. They need to be forced into self-examination and realize how much weight and responsibilty they carry. While they are mostly shameless, the rest of us must recognize their B.S. for exactly what it is. The weapon the Press has is the First Amendment, but it’s scope has never been tested in a courtroom. Right now they think they still have the Right to yell “Fire” in a crowded theater.

This exchange of words does not in any way prove what the headline purports it proves.
Ms. Jiang was NOT in any way “defending” Communist China.
She was asking why Trump ignored and failed to act upon solid information being supplied to the US by OUR OWN PEOPLE (i.e. reliable Americans) working for the W.H.O. in China, indicating the devastating scope and infectiousness of this novel virus, and failed to make appropriate PREPARATIONS in the event the virus came here to the US, or in the event it was ALREADY here.
That was a very good and pertinent question, about why US lives were put at risk by Trump’s inaction, failig to stockpile needed supplies (tests, PPE for first responders and medical personnel, etc.) and in failing to PLAN.
Instead, Trump DEFLECTED the question and never did answer it.
He demonstrated his own, ignorant reliance on REPORTED cases and reported deaths as somehow showing anything meaningful at all at the BEGINNING of a potential pandemic, especially one with a TWO WEEK incubation period after infection, where the infected person will show no symptoms but will nevertheless be spreading the virus to everyone they contact in that time.
The virus WAS ALREADY here, in the US, by the time Trump closed off Chinese immigration. He closed the barn door after the horse had fled.
He DID NOT cut off ALL flights from China — returning US citizens, even without symptoms, could bring the virus with them. Trump did NOT require such people to self-quarantine before mixing with other people.
Trump’s foolish fixation on reported numbers is why he refused to allow a cruise ship to dock in San Francisco Bay, but forced those US citizens to hover offshore for days, because “he liked the numbers” that did not include the cases already known to be aboard the boat. But that made NO DIFFERENCE to the number of US citizens on US soil already affected by Covid-19.
And by asking Jiang “how many deaths had occurred on US soil before Trump closed the door to China,” he did NOT “raise a question that stumped her.” It was a rhetorical question, and they both knew the answer was zero. But it was IRRELEVANT to the question of what else Trump SHOULD have done, given how EARLY he knew about the risk. It was, in other words, a classic Trump red herring, a moving of the goal posts, a begging of the question, an emotional punch in the gut that Trump knew would appeal to his base but which was all smoke and mirrors to anyone who took the time to analyze it.
And, meanwhile, we STILL do not have enough test kits to RELIABLY allow the lockdown to be eased and the economy to get back to work. That requires the regime of TESTING, FOLLOWING, and ISOLATION of known carriers and those who have come into contact with them, which health professionals have been outlining for weeks. If we DO that, we will both flatten the curve AND shorten the period of shutdown.
But Trump refuses to issue a national plan to do that. He puts the burden entirely on the governors, and washes his hands of any responsibility to coordinate a meaningful and SAFE national response.
And if you believe he has done a GOOD job in ANY way in dealing with the pandemic, that just proves you have drunk his Kool-Aid.
