New York hospitalizations/deaths drop as protesters in Texas and Maryland rally to lift distancing restrictions, Democrats tighten chokehold

38

While deaths and hospitalizations decline, democrats increase restrictions and lock-downs. Their objective is to destroy our economy, our way of life for the sole purpose defeating Trump.

Meanwhile the sheeple in New York stay huddled in their closets.

Coronavirus Outbreak Eases in New York as U.S. Protesters Push Against Restrictions

New York Gov. Cuomo says, ‘You could argue that we are past the plateau and we are starting to descend’. The coronavirus pandemic in America’s hardest-hit state is starting to wane, its governor said, as more U.S. protesters rallied to lift social-distancing restrictions.

By: By Peter Grant, Chuin-Wei Yap and Valentina Pop, Wall Street Journal, April 18, 2020:

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said at news conference on Saturday that the number of people currently hospitalized in the state for Covid-19, is under 17,000 compared with about 18,000 at its peak

With more than 235,000 reported coronavirus cases, New York accounts for about one-third of all cases in the U.S., according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. It has nearly three times as many as the No. 2 state, New Jersey, despite a population just over twice as large.

But the average person infected with Covid-19 in New York now infects 0.9 other people, compared with 1.4 at the height of the outbreak, according to Mr. Cuomo, indicating that the virus’s spread is now slowing.

“You could argue that we are past the plateau and we are starting to descend,” the governor said.

He added, however, that 2,000 people testing positive for Covid-19 were admitted to New York hospitals on Friday, which is about the same number of admissions in late March when the health crisis was intensifying. “Happy days are not here again,” he said.

Reported coronavirus infections in the U.S. now exceed, nearly one-third of the 2.27 million cases world-wide, according to Johns Hopkins data, which experts have said likely undercounts the true extent of the pandemic. The nation’s reported death count is nearly 38,000, while the global death count has surpassed 157,000.

The reported U.S. infection and death counts are higher than any other country, though on a per capita basis they lag the hardest hit European nations, Spain and Italy, according to Johns Hopkins. Some European countries, along with China and Iran, are ahead of the U.S. in beginning to reopen after a month or more in lockdown. Meanwhile, some Asian nations are puzzled by a resurgence of cases.

In Texas and Maryland, protesters rallied in capital cities Saturday, calling on legislators to relax restrictions designed to reduce the spread of the virus. The rally in Austin was organized by InfoWars, a controversial right-wing website that has promoted conspiracy theories.

At one point, the crowd began chanting “fire Fauci,” referring to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the Trump administration’s top infectious disease expert who has been a strong advocate of social distancing efforts.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has already set the nation’s second-largest state on a path to reopening, saying shopping, hiking and some medical procedures may restart as soon as next week.

Reopen Maryland, the group behind the planned protest in that state’s capital city of Annapolis, called on participants to follow all laws including Covid-19 restrictions. Protesters in some other states haven’t followed social-distancing guidelines.

Videos of the Annapolis protest on social media showed a line of honking cars weaving their way through the streets of the city as passengers waved American flags out their windows.

Demonstrators in Annapolis, Md., on Saturday calling on the state to lift its stay-at-home limits.

The protests come after President Trump on Friday used Twitter to signal support for previous rallies against virus containment measures in three other state capitals. Those states—Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia—all have Democratic governors, while Mr. Abbott and Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan are both Republicans. Mr. Trump said he wasn’t advocating states fully lift their stay-at-home bans, but took issue with measures he said were too restrictive.

Also on Friday Mr. Trump said his administration planned to expand testing for the new coronavirus and pressed governors to loosen their restrictions, while saying it was up to them to reopen states on their own timetables.

Along with Texas, Vermont and Minnesota are also easing some restrictions. In Washington state, where the virus was first detected in the U.S. and triggered a three-week shutdown, Boeing Co. said it would resume limited production of its wide-body commercial jetliners on Monday.

Other governors, including Democrat Gavin Newsom of California, said it was too early to lift restrictions until they had greater capacity to test people for the virus and could respond more quickly to fresh outbreaks.

Also Saturday, Canada and the U.S. agreed to extend their ban on nonessential travel between the two countries for another 30 days.

Germany Says Its Covid-19 Outbreak Is ‘Under Control’
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-52327956
“Germany’s health minister Jens Spahn says the month-long lock-down has brought his country’s coronavirus outbreak under control. Since 12 April the number of recovered patients had been consistently higher than the number of new infections.
The infection rate dropped to 0.7 – with each infected person passing the virus to fewer than one other. [If the infection rate number drops below 1.0, then an epidemic starts to die out.]
On Wednesday Merkel announced tentative steps to start easing the restrictions. Some smaller shops will reopen next week and schools will start reopening in early May, with the focus on students due to sit exams soon.”

Slowing down the spread was good to flatten the curve is good but it is not a cure. We also have the Trump cocktail and other drugs that are helping people so the death rate will continue to go down even if it continues to spread. We didn’t have those drugs in the beginning so it is time to OPEN UP beyond the “hot spots”.

Notice all these drugs that look promising are coming from the PRIVATE sector. Even Rutgers University came up with a saliva test to see if you have it. Meanwhile Fauci has been working on a cure for AIDS fo 38 years and maybe in 10 more years will have a cure. Who knows how much money was wasted on the federal government to do anything constructive with cures or vaccines.

Ever notice the graphs do not reduce either infections or deaths? Even if you believe them since the profiles of all nations tracking the their cases has the same curve meaning nothing they did really “flattened” anything.

And, as their conjecture states, the flattening would not occur until about three weeks after the lockdown/social distancing, etc because of the incubation period and the time it takes to develop a severe case requiring hospitalization. This means the “flattening” occured prior to any effect lock down or distancing could possible have happened. Draw a time line if you don’t believe it. Yes, I know that is a popular theory, but it is still controversial. Some virologists say Covid-19 was man made, others say it was 100% derived from bats. Right now, I’m letting the virologists fight it out among themselves.

But for sure, we know that Wuhan and US labs collaborated to find a bat coronavirus type that could infect humans directly, with no other intermediary animals, or modifications. When the US caught the Wuhan lab trying to make it more potent, they quit the research, but China continued alone. Did they make it more potent? We don’t know, but somehow that virus got out of the Wuhan labs.

The death rate in my state is 0.025% from those known to be infected. We know that a large percentage are asymptomatic which means the death rate is even lower. The democrats can’t destroy President Trump, so they are destroying the citizens and the country instead, FACT.

If you look at the chart they used with the ILI, it showed 3 spikes. The first two are two types of influenza, and the third was COVID-19. The body count for the COVID-19 spike so far, with massive mitigation in place across the entire nation to minimize the speed of the spread, and to reduce the number of people who actually become infected, has a body count so far that rivals entire flu seasons. We don’t react to flu seasons with massive mitigation, so to compare the current COVID-19 outbreak to a normal influenza season is very misguided. 35,433 dead in about a month (and still counting) with massive mitigation to prevent it is a lot worse than about the same number over an entire flu season with no mitigation at all.

People who say this is some kind of hoax are suggesting that they recognize a hoax that the POTUS did not. Do people really think the POTUS brought the whole country to a halt over a hoax?

No one is saying to stay shut down forever….and only the Democrats wanted the shutdown to begin with. The mitigation was necessary.

You are missing the point. It does not matter whether extreme mitigation efforts are successful. Our Rights do not come from the government. Therefore the government can not constitutionally take them away. No where in the constitution does it say “This document becomes null and void if there is a bad flu season.”

Do you realize this whole nonsense (shutting down the ENTIRE country), was meant as a power grab. The powers that be were very quick to take absolute control, but are very reluctant to now give that up, despite the fact that this virus is nowhere near the killer it was touted to be (CA Governor Newsome went on the record, that by now, 25.5 million CA residents would be infected). The numbers are and have been all over the place since day one. And we are expected to take as gospel what gov “leaders” like the snake Fauci is telling us?

They were for going about their business to distract so this could spread beyond anything manageable. Had this spread quickly across the nation we would be in the middle of an absolure nightmare, and we would be shut down very hard for much longer. That was the original goal. President Trump reacted early and intensely, and he also didn’t fall for the trap of taking over, so the Democrats got caught in their own state’s rights/responsibilities and had to push mitigation efforts in their own states to prevent their smear from smearing them. They didn’t want it to look too obvious that they wanted this to spread, and that was already obvious. As mitigation dulled the expected body count and shortened the length of the out break, the Democrats went so hard on economic damage that they people in some of the states that weren’t hit really hard started to think the whole thing was a nothing burger, and started to protest. I think the Democrats wanted to use the protests to spread a second wave of infection. Some of them were already pointing to the protesters and accusing them of spreading the virus (which is actually possible). I can’t put everything in every comment…. I was focusing the the 3 spikes, and pointing out the false idea that this was a hoax.

Because whatever POTUS says and does they automatically want the exact opposite.
He may have used this when he said Governors can’t open up without him, knowing they would immediately set to work to do it, which was what he wanted.
If people don’t now understand what this POTUS has done (superbly) and what Democrats in charge want (totalitarianism and to wreck the economy and lives so people blame Trump), they won’t ever get it. Hopeless.
