Rita Wilson warns she experienced ‘extreme side effects’ after taking chloroquine

Story continues below advertisementRita Wilson, who announced she had contracted the coronavirus with her husband Tom Hanks last month, warned that taking chloroquine, a drug that has been touted by the White House as a “game changer,” caused her “extreme side effects.”
The couple has since recovered from their infection that was reported on March 11, after quarantining in Australia, where they were diagnosed with the illness.
Hanks cited milder symptoms than Wilson, who was given chloroquine for her treatment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Wilson said she was not sure if the drug worked or if her fever broke naturally. However, regardless of whether the drug worked, she said she thinks it caused “extreme side effects” that made her nauseous, dizzy and weakened her muscles.
She added, “people have to be very considerate about that drug. We don’t really know if it’s helpful in this case.”
President Trump has touted the drugs hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine as possible “miracle” solutions for treating the coronavirus, despite a lack of long-term research into its effects on COVID-19 patients.
The drugs, previously proven to treat infections such as malaria, have been issued an emergency-use authorization, which is still not a full approval for the drug’s treatment for the coronavirus.
Health officials told Wilson and Hanks they are now immune to the virus, as the couple volunteers to donate their blood to a study working on developing a vaccine for COVID-19.
Wilson added that she and Hanks feel “completely normal” with no lingering or residual symptoms of the virus.

First off the White House never touted chloroquine they touted hydroxychloroquine two different drugs with different side effects, so the basis of her criticism is baseless and nothing more than pandering to get attention.

I’m going to postpone my three month May check up till June. By then NJ should have peaked. We keep watching infections and the death rate going up. Our county is being surrounded. It’s coming in from the NE and we live in the NW.
We are so pissed. Our district is very Republican but after being redistricted we now have DEMs representing is. Eye roll. I guess our Republican Mayor was over ruled. So what does our corrupt DEM governor do? He punishes us by putting a virus drive through in our tiny township were cases are LOW at a school, no less. We don’t want it here or people infected traipsing around our sleepy township. Up the road is a closed empty Walmart. It has a huge empty parking lot, removed from a residential area that would be perfect but no they bring it to our township. That’s how DEMS operate.
So we will have people coming from all over NJ with their doctor’s script to be tested. They already have symptoms for something. There is nothing stopping them from food shopping, stopping at a Seven Eleven etc. or anywhere else and it easily spreads.
We rarely venture out. It’s like a ghost town. It’s unclear how long this thing stays on surfaces. It should have been put in a shiiiithole area for easier convenience for those that have it. Right now our local numbers are still low, we’d like to keep it that way.

Hang in there felix. Boston and it’s surrounding suburbs are hot spots right now. The democrat mayor of Boston and Gov. Charlie Baker (rhymes with Faker—RINO-MA) have put restrictions on being out and about during overnight hours. I take my hospital ID whenever I venture out, and especially at night as I work the overnight shift. I haven’t been pulled over yet, but you never know and I would rather be safe than sorry. Things are strange and they get stranger by the day.
Hopefully we will all “peak” soon and this bullsh!t will be but a distant memory. I hope……

Hey, Felix, I’ll tell you what’s really bad…..when you get cancer….they don’t tell you that the chemo they are giving you can cause “secondary cancers.” You don’t find that out when 7 years later you’re told this new cancer was caused by the chemo they gave you the first time. Talk about feeling betrayed!

Yes, Mohandjob but, to an actor, those things are catastrophic. Why, do you realize that nausea, or dizziness may cause an actor to leave the set for a day, or two? Devastating, because actors are SO dedicated to their jobs. We know that, because they remind us every year how great they are with the Oscar awards.

Wilson, who came down with Covid-19 while in Australia with husband Tom Hanks, told CBS This Morning that the medication left her “completely nauseous” and suffering from vertigo. She was given the drug about Day 9 of her illness, she said.
So she was really ill.
Not serious side effects—
Nausea—> can be treated with Maxolon or better still, Ondansetron
Because of nausea she probably didn’t drink enough and could have been dehydrated that could cause low BP and

However, a spokesman for Gold Coast Hospital, where the couple recovered from COVID-19, did confirm that the drug has been administered to some patients.
“Gold Coast Health has used a variety of medication in patients with more severe COVID-19,” the spokesman said.
“Chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine and lopinavir-ritonavir have been used on selected patients.
“There is much scientific debate worldwide about how best to treat COVID-19. So, we are currently identifying new international clinical trials in which our patients may be able to participate.’’

In the Spring of 2019 I got shingles and was given an anti-viral drug.
