Story continues below advertisementIn an analysis that flies in the face of actions taken by most countries and all the recommendations of Israel’s Health Ministry, Isaac Ben-Israel, chairman of the Israel Space Agency, said on Monday that lockdowns and curfews have no effect.
He said closures have no impact on the eight-week shelf life of COVID-19 and called for stopping them at once followed by a swift ramp-up of Israel’s economy.
“Therefore, I propose that we end the closures immediately after the current week. We will start increasing the workforce from 15 percent to fifty percent and in two weeks we will reach 100 percent,” he told Arutz7.
Ben-Israel, who holds a PhD in Philosophy and a BSc in Physics and Mathematics from Tel Aviv University, credited Prof. Ziegler of the Technion and Ronnie Yefarah for helping him reach his conclusion, the web site reports.
According to his findings, there is a clear trend in all countries where at the start of the epidemic, the rate of hospitalization increases rapidly on a day-by-day basis, then moderates and declines.
“The incidence of patients was greater by the day. This was during the first four weeks after the epidemic was discovered in Israel. As of the sixth week, the increase in the number of patients has been moderate, peaking in the sixth week at 700 patients per day.
“Since then it has been declining, and today there are only 300 new patients. In two weeks it will reach zero and there will be no more new patients,” Prof. Ben-Israel said.
This process occurred whether countries imposed closures or not, he said.
“This is how it is all over the world. Both in countries where they have taken closure steps like Italy and in countries that have not had closures, like Taiwan and Singapore,” Ben-Israel said.
“In such and such countries there is an increase until the fourth to sixth week, and immediately thereafter moderation until during the eighth week when it disappears.”
“It’s clear to us how the epidemic is starting and what is causing the increase. What is causing the moderation is unclear,” he said.
Ben-Israel said that hygienic practices put in place should continue, including wearing masks, avoiding large crowds and the like.
“What bothers me is the damage to the economy,” he said. “We are paying NIS 100 billion a month because of this closure. This also has implications for health. We will pay with more human lives with our health system in the current state.”
Israel currently has 11,868 active cases and a total of 118 fatalities.

Does this jerk honestly want to lift lock-downs on nursing homes with the elderly?
Not all Israelis are ethical and smart some are full of Bullsh_t.
Just because Ben-Israel is educated he does not have the right to dictate and G-d help us if any dummies would follow his bad advice.
Israel is a democracy and just because one jerk says lift the lock-down immediately does not mean everyone must do as Ben-Israel says.
What Ben-Israel is saying flies in the face of most countries for a reason because Ben-Israel is an education sociopath.
Ben-Israel recommends ending closures immediately after the current week and this would be a global disaster.
What bothers this arrogant man is the damage to the economy and not the loss of human life.

One of his ‘facts’ to support his ‘ideas’ is that Singapore and Taiwan did not have lock downs. Taiwan and Singapore are islands and no doubt thought it easy for them to control access.Singapore has had 3252 cases 10 deaths, and Taiwan 397 and 6 deaths. Almost all countries with lock downs have stabilised their cases developments. He is not qualified in any branch of medicine.

I am getting increasingly worried about Pamela’s sate of mind as she seems to be increasingly confused about what she supports. Just because the ‘expert’ is a Jew (for whom I have great respect generally) it does not make him infallible. His qualifications are in non medical sciences for one thing. A look at the Israeli news sites will show that many of them disagree with him

It declines because it kills off the vulnerable and the people who survive gain some immunity. When there are fewer people who are sick (because they are immune) they don’t pass on the virus. Closures slow down the rate of infection so that there is more time to develop treatment that might keep the elderly alive.

Blah blah blah. I also served my country as a 91 Bravo(Medic) for almost eight years and I did NOT vote for Trump, but for Darrell Castle of the Constitution Party. After Trumps first year and a half in office with republican House and Senate majorities that did nothing but continually stab conservatives in the back, I went ahead and switched to the Constitution Party. After being a republican my entire adult life. The difference between you and I, sir, as constitutional expert Krisanne Hall’s slogan says, “I place liberty over security, principle over party, and truth over personality.”

Darrell Castle of the Constitution Party A lifetime Politician, I guess being a medic for 91 Bravo (mechanic job for vehicles) is some sort of a man I think mostly girls do that today get into combat.
