The US-Israel Alliance Is Durable and Strong: 2020 favorable rating among Americans is 75%

11

The American people are still firmly behind Israel, despite the unrelenting attacks against the Jewish state from the Left. According to a recent Gallup poll, Israel’s favorable rating among the American people is at 74 percent. The highest such rating that Israel has achieved since the Gulf War of 1991. The same poll also concluded that the Palestinian Authority’s approval rating among the American people is an abysmal 23 percent, despite the overwhelming support they receive from the MSM, and academia, and the growing Bernie Sanders wing of the Democrat Party. Kudos to pro-Israel Americans (most especially President Trump) who keep the U.S-Israel alliance strong.

The US-Israel Alliance Is Durable and Strong

By Algemeiner, April 8, 2020

The US-Israel bond is a unique bottom-up phenomenon in the sphere of international relations, with most elected officials in the US House, Senate, and the White House following the positive state of mind of most Americans regarding Israel.

Ordinarily, international relations constitute a top-down phenomenon, with elected officials shaping policy toward another country, which is then endorsed — or opposed — by the constituency.

But the roots of the positive attitude toward Israel, by most Americans, are 400 years old, dating back to the 1620 Mayflower. Thus, according to a recent Gallup poll, Israel’s February 2020 favorable rating among Americans is 74% — the highest since 1989. It is second only to a January 1991 poll (79%), when Israel was targeted by Iraq’s Scud missiles during the Gulf War.

While Canada, Britain, Germany, France, Japan, and India are ahead of Israel in the poll, none of them has experienced Israel’s systematically coarse treatment by the US State Department establishment, some in the media, and much of US academia. While Israel benefits from a substantial level of public support, the Palestinian Authority’s favorable rating in February 2020 was 23%, slightly ahead of Iran (11%), North Korea (12%), Afghanistan (18%), and Iraq (19%).

Most Americans recognize the US-Israel compatibility of long term core values, culture, and civic foundations, in addition to shared national security challenges and threats, which transcend short term disagreements.

Most Americans appreciate Israel’s consistently unconditional alliance with the US — unlike the rest of the Middle East and many of the European countries — in addition to Israel’s innovative nature and unique levels of patriotism, optimism, attachment to roots, and communal solidarity and responsibility.

The wide base of support among Americans — along with the surging mutually beneficial strategic cooperation — has produced a unique pattern of friction between the US and Israeli administrations: V-shaped (a swift deterioration and a swift recovery), and not U-shaped (a swift deterioration and a delayed recovery).

For example, Israel’s June 7, 1981 destruction of Iraq’s nuclear reactor triggered a harsh US reaction, including the suspension of the delivery of F-16 combat planes.  However, on December 1, 1981, an unprecedented strategic cooperation accord was concluded, recognizing Israel’s cardinal role in the battle against Islamic terrorism, the rising threat of Iran’s ayatollahs, the expansion of Soviet influence in the Middle East, and the contribution of Israel’s unique battle experience and military intelligence to the performance of the US armed forces and defense industries.

I personally think less of those countries than I do of Israel. In my estimation, right now Japan and India are ahead of Germany and France. Not sure how I feel about Canada.

Off topic – WHAT is going on?
Funding was provided by the OBAMA ADMNISTRATION! Why aren’t we doing our own research?

REVEALED: U.S. government gave $3.7million grant to Wuhan lab at center of coronavirus leak scrutiny that was performing experiments on bats from the caves where the disease is believed to have originated

By FRANCES MULRANEY and GLENN OWEN
DAILY MAIL
PUBLISHED: 20:49 EDT, 11 April 2020

* The US National Institutes of Health, a government agency, awarded a $3.7million research grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology
* The lab is the center of several conspiracy theories that suggest it is the original source of the coronavirus outbreak
* The institute experimented on bats from the source of the coronavirus
* They were captured more than 1,000 miles away in Yunnan
* Sequencing of the Covid-19 genome has traced it to bats to Yunnan’s caves
* The U.S. government funded research on coronavirus transmission in the lab over the past decade (TEN YEARS ago was under the OBAMA ADMNISTRATION!)

The NIH is the primary agency of the United States government responsible for biomedical and public health research. The Wuhan Institute lists them on their website as a partner as well as several other American academic institutions.

Other U.S. partners include the University of Alabama, the University of North Texas, Harvard University, and the National Wildlife Federation.
..
Results of the U.S-funded research at the Wuhan Institute were published in November 2017 under the heading: ‘Discovery of a rich gene pool of bat SARS-related coronaviruses provides new insights into the origin of SARS coronavirus.’

We must work to get Palestinian approval rating where it should be: ZERO

Suggest we all sign up to receive free e mail bulletins from Palestinian Media Watch and send to all – especially our Lefty Jewish friends who like to pretend Abbas/Palestinian Authority/Fatah/PLO is “moderate” and a “peace partner”. Team Abbas is ideologically identical to Hamas. Both groups want to destroy Israel, the ancient Jewish homeland, and murder Jews based on what they see as Koranic command.

Many people mistakenly believe that, as opposed to Hamas, the PLO is secular. That is not so. Check out Palestine Basic Law which is the constitution governing the territory controlled by the PLO and the basis for the Constitution of a future Palestinian state. That Basic Law clearly says that the Palestinians are part of the Arab nation, that Islam will be the official state religion, that sharia law will be the principal source of legislation and that Jerusalem (NOT EAST JERUSALEM) is the capital of “Palestine”. The fact that the PA (PLO + Fatah) say that Sharia law is the principla source of legislation means that Islam is top priority for them. How is this different from Hamas? Hamas is just more fanatic about implimenting Sharia law than the PLO is. It is a difference of degree but not of kind.

Jewish anti-Semitic organizations are prime drivers in turning Americans AGAINST Israel. They must be banished from all synagogues. Any rabbi that treats a Jewish anti-Semitic organization like a respectable group must be fired. If not fired – self respecting Jews must leave rabbi’s congregation. Hillels that associate with J St. must be defunded. Jewish community papers that give op-eds to any of the below as if they were respectable organizations must be unsubscribed until they go out of business and replaced by true Jewish community papers.

Here are some of the Jewish anti-Semitic organizations. By omission and/or comission, lying about Israel is lying about Jews. That’s anti-Semitism. That’s these organizations:

J St.
Jewish Democratic Council of America (a J St. front)
Jewish Voice for Peace
Americans for Peace Now
New Israel Fund
If Not Now
Bend the Ark
T’ruach
Jews for Racial and Economic Justice
Rabbis for Human Rights
Union of Reform Judaism/Religious Action Center

If you know of more, please add in a comment.

If three quarters of the American people have a favorable view of Israel, that gives us reason to hope that J Street’s attempts to drive a wedge between the American people and Israel will fail. We need to do everything we can to increase America’s support for Israel and to undermine J Street’s nefarious anti-Israel efforts.

Just wish Israel would reciprocate in kind. Having worked with them I like them but their gov’t isn’t as friendly.
