Democrat Kentucky Governor Vetoes Mandatory Voter ID for 2020 Election

Story continues below advertisementKentucky Governor Andy Beshear (D) has vetoed legislation that would mandate state voters to show a photo ID before they vote in the 2020 presidential election, and every election after.
Last week, Beshear announced his veto of mandatory voter ID legislation that ensures all registered voters must prove their identity before they cast a ballot, starting in November.
According to Beshear, requiring voter ID creates “an obstacle” that results “in fewer people voting,” though research and data show otherwise. In Alabama, which has a mandatory voter ID law, black American voters came out in droves in 2018 to help elect Doug Jones to the U.S. Senate.
“I am vetoing Senate Bill 2 because the provisions of the law would create an obstacle to the ability of Kentuckians to exercise their right to vote, resulting in fewer people voting and undermining our democracy,” Beshear wrote. “Furthermore, no documented evidence of recent voter fraud in the form of impersonation in Kentucky has been presented.”
A January poll by the Washington Post and Ipsos asked black Americans 18-years-old and over whether they had experienced voter suppression in the last ten years. About 92 percent said they had not experienced any voter suppression over the last decade.
Beshear’s veto of the legislation is likely to be overturned by the Republican-controlled state House and Senate, as the voter ID requirement was passed out of both by a supermajority.
In December, Beshear restored voting rights to more than 140,000 convicted felons via executive order. The felons are those convicted of “non-violent” crimes, though violent criminals often plead down to non-violent drug offenses to shorten their prison sentences.

They say the Republicans can override his veto. All I can say is, do not be complacent and believe Trump will have a land slide win. Do your part, whatever that may be. Don’t assume someone else will do YOUR part.

Democrats have prove themselves to be against voter ID which equals cheat and fraud, it makes sense to suspend elections this year and have Trump in automatically for another fours years. Besides, the dems have no one credible or sane to run.

Then why bother with driver’s licenses or ID’s to begin with ?? If I get pulled over for speeding, why show an ID, if I don’t have to show one to vote ??? /sarc

The Commiecrtas are raising huge amounts of money to fund voter fraud schemes among which is nationwide “ballot harvesting.” They know they can’t win 2020 but are determined to steal it.

Of course requiring photo voter ID surprises voting! It surpresses the number of dead people voting, double voting, fraudulent absentee voting, non-citizens and other illegal alien voting….etc…etc…Every Democrat knows that!!!!!

The Constitution ONLY applies to Citizens of the Sovereign States, Several, or to ‘federal citizens’.
The Constitution requires that ONLY Citizens of the Sovereign States, Several, or ‘federal citizens’ be allowed to “vote”.
If you belong to a certain organization, the rules of that organization only apply to members, and ONLY MEMBERS are allowed to ‘vote’ in the organization’s elections.
How Friggin’ STUPID would you have to be to think that anyone, and everyone, would be allowed to control the actions of organizations that you did not belong to.

I have no clue why this was a bill other than to show the people what a jerk Beshear is, after all he thinks Planned Parenthood is an essential business. I have voted in Kentucky my entire adult life (age 68) and if the Poll Workers do not know you personally, at least recognize you as living in the community, you have to show your ID.

We have to show ID here in Ohio in order to VOTE, as well, but we have a REPUBLICAN Governor, DeWine who is trying to shut down PP. He is not perfect, but he sure is better than Kasich was, who was a Democrat in Republican clothing. What I DON’T LIKE is having to vote via mail-in ballot. I DO NOT LIKE IT, but I understand why, for now.
But, I TRUST IN GOD ALMIGHTY AND HIS DIVINE INTERVENTION IN KEEPING OUR ELECTIONS FREE FROM EVIL PEOPLE, just like I trusted in HIM to save America when we elected Trump against ALL ODDS.

OF COURSE HE WOULD VETO THAT LAW, IT’S THE ONLY WAY FOR DEMOCRATS TO STAY IN POWER . VOTER FRAUD, VOTE BUYING, INTIMIDATION, THREATS, THEFT AND EVEN MURDER. ALL HAVE BEEN USED BY DEMOCRATS FOR OVER 100 YEARS.
