FDA okays Israeli drug for coronavirus treatment trials

NeuroRx, a US-Israeli pharmaceutical company, and Relief Therapeutics, a Swiss drug development company, announced Sunday they received a go-ahead from the Food and Drug Administration for phase two trials for a drug that could take on a deadly condition associated with COVID-19.
The two companies announced Sunday that the FDA issued a “study may proceed” letter — which does not amount to a full-fledged drug approval — for the substance to be tried on COVID-19 patients.
The drug in question, Aviptadil, is a synthetic form of a neuropeptide hormone that works to enable communications between neurons in the human nerve system.
The researchers are hoping that Aviptadil will be able to take on the so-called Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) — a condition that killed about 50% of COVID-19 fatalities.
ARDS is a respiratory system failure induced by a rapid and severe lung inflammation, with breath shortness — a symptom COVID-19 is widely associated with — among its key signs.
It effectively brings to a halt the oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange in the patient’s lungs, necessitating the use of an artificial lung ventilation machine.

There are multiple peer reviewed scientific papers out of Saudi Arabia claiming the virtues of camel piss. Unfortunately the peers are fellow lunatics but otherwise the papers are as believable as anything out of the social sciences for example.

Wonderful!
So another drug is being given the okay for a clincal trial by the FDA. It sounds like the LUNGS malfunctioning due to what was described is what is killing patients. If that is true, why isn’t Dr. Fauci suggesting existing drugs to help stop this respiratory failure? Maybe I’m not understanding something? I just hope this latest drug works!!!!!!

Because Dr. Fauci is a lifelong academic in the government sector who needs everything in the context of a clinical trial and can’t problem solve when it matters like those of us who are scientists and Engineers in the public sector. Thank God we have Trump cutting through the bureaucratic BS.
