Top Hospital Exec Fired After Saying Trump Supporters with Coronavirus Should Give Up Ventilators and Die

A top medical executive at a Buffalo hospital was fired this weekend after demanding that supporters of President Donald Trump renounce ventilators if they become critically ill with coronavirus.
Story continues below advertisementIn a Facebook exchange, Laura Krolczyk, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s now former vice president for external affairs, wrote, “Trump supporters need to pledge to give up their ventilators for someone else … and not go to the hospital.”

Krolczyk also said Trump supporters should “barricade themselves” inside churches to ride out the coronavirus.
“Also don’t cash your stimulus check. It’s all a hoax. Chew some ibuprofen and be on with your day,” Krolczyk wrote of Trump supporters.
Krolczyk was initially placed on administrative leave, but was later terminated over the comments, according to the Buffalo News.
Roswell Park released the following statement announcing Krolczyk’s termination, WGRZ-TV reported:
This employee was terminated today [Saturday] after our Human Resources team concluded its investigation. We followed standard procedure, which required that we gather and verify relevant information before taking any disciplinary action.
Dr. Johnson and her team responded with swift and appropriate action. We have always been and continue to be a center serving everyone who needs us. That is core to our mission, our culture and the experience our patients and families can expect every day.
This behavior is not tolerated at Roswell Park. If any team members act in a way that does not accord with that commitment, we will take swift and appropriate action, just as we did in this instance.
Krolczyk earned $226,580 in compensation in 2019, the Buffalo News reported.
Krolczyk previously worked for Hillary Clinton and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.).

They thought President Trump would be damaged by this….but he comes out looking like the hardest working President in my 7 decades….they thought they would take him down in this pandemic…..instead, his poll numbers just keep climbing…..it’s setting their hair on fire.

Notice how social media had NO PROBLEM with this, but forced Laura Ingraham to delet a tweet with with praise for hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malaria drug championed by the president as a potential treatment for the virus.
This was supposed to be the exchange between Krolczk and LaTrovato:
The exchange – according to screen grabs posted by Caputo – began when Krolczyk posted a link to an article by the Hill news site about the Trump administration’s reluctance to pay $1 billion to General Motors and Ventec for ventilator production.
Krolczyk shared the article with a comment: “Vote Trump.”
LaTrovato responded: “But will waste more than that on a wall and space force.”
Krolczyk replied: “Trump supporters need to pledge to give up their ventilators for someone else … and not go to the hospital.”
LaTrovato responded: “I think they should be the only ones in packed churches on Sunday.”
Krolczyk then said: “They should barricade themselves in there and ride this out.”
LaTrovato replied: “Yup.”
Later, another Facebook user wrote: “Wow, just wow, so your saying we decide who lives and dies based on political views? Great plan (thumbs up emoji).”
Krolczyk responsed: “That’s literally what he’s saying. Take your ‘wow’ and comprehend what your hero is saying. Your hero is saying YOU don’t need a ventilator. So don’t take one.”
Krolczyk added: “Also don’t cash your stimulus check. It’s all a hoax. Chew some ibuprofen and be on with your day.”
Caputo shared the exchanges and urged his 37,000 Twitter followers to raise their concerns directly with the two institutions.
“Is it your public health policy to assure Trump voters are infected with COVID?” Caputo asked of the two organizations.

A second woman involved in the exchange, Lisa LaTrovato, director of development for Hauptman Woodward Medical Research Institute, has been placed on leave, The News reported.
(WHY wasn’t she fired too?)
The back-and-forth began when Krolczyk and LaTovato were sharing criticisms about the administration and its pursuit of ventilators for coronavirus patients.
Hauptman Woodward’s statement emphasized that the comments were made on a personal Facebook account.
“HWI leadership is addressing this regrettable personnel matter directly with the individual involved, who has been placed on administrative leave pending further internal review,” it said.
(So it’s okay for Lisa LaTrovato to share the same sentiment on Facebook?)
The News reported Krolczyk worked for Hillary Clinton and
Democrat Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York and
LaTrovato for another Democrat, New York Rep. Louise Slaughter.
