Will they ever learn? Chinese markets are still selling bats and slaughtering rabbits on blood-soaked floors as Beijing celebrates ‘victory’ over the coronavirus

  • Cats, dogs and other domesticated and wild animals freely available to buy
  • One sources says that: ‘the markets have gone back to operating in exactly the same way as they did before coronavirus’ despite the outbreaks links to bats
  • Wild animals still for sale as food and traditional medicine in Chinese markets
  • Coronavirus symptoms: what are they and should you see a doctor?

By George Knowles For The Mail, 28 March 2020

Terrified dogs and cats crammed into rusty cages. Bats and scorpions offered for sale as traditional medicine. Rabbits and ducks slaughtered and skinned side by side on a stone floor covered with blood, filth, and animal remains.

Story continues below advertisement

Those were the deeply troubling scenes yesterday as China celebrated its ‘victory’ over the coronavirus by reopening squalid meat markets of the type that started the pandemic three months ago, with no apparent attempt to raise hygiene standards to prevent a future outbreak.

As the pandemic that began in Wuhan forced countries worldwide to go into lockdown, a Mail on Sunday correspondent yesterday watched as thousands of customers flocked to a sprawling indoor market in Guilin, south-west China.

Here cages of different species were piled on top of each other. In another meat market in Dongguan, southern China, another correspondent photographed a medicine seller returning to business on Thursday with a billboard advertising bats – thought to be the cause of the initial Wuhan outbreak – along with scorpions and other creatures.

The shocking scenes came as China finally lifted a weekslong nationwide lockdown and encouraged people to go back to normal daily life to boost the flagging economy. Official statistics indicated there were virtually no new infections.

The market in Guilin was packed with shoppers yesterday, with fresh dog and cat meat on offer, a traditional ‘warming’ winter dish.

‘Everyone here believes the outbreak is over and there’s nothing to worry about any more. It’s just a foreign problem now as far as they are concerned,’ said one of the China-based correspondents who captured these images for The Mail on Sunday.

The correspondent who visited Dongguan said: ‘The markets have gone back to operating in exactly the same way as they did before coronavirus.

‘The only difference is that security guards try to stop anyone taking pictures which would never have happened before.’

The first coronavirus cases were traced to a market in Wuhan but the outbreak was kept silent by officials for weeks and whistleblowers were silenced, including 33-yearold Dr Li Wenliang, who later died of coronavirus.

Now, after a dramatic fall in infection rates within China, the Beijing government is promoting conspiracy theories that the outbreak did not begin in China at all. A discredited story, shared widely on China’s Weibo social media platform, claims coronavirus was first detected in Italy in November.

Meanwhile, Chinese officials have promoted groundless conspiracy theories that the US Army brought the virus to its shores. The only Chinese city still under lockdown yesterday was Wuhan, but yesterday even the restrictions there began to be lifted, with high-speed trains allowed to operate.

I’m shocked they’re not eating the wuhan corpses. I hear they make great barbeque when seasoned and marinated with soy sauce, ginger and hoisin.

These people are still totally primitive and not to be trusted. There dietary and hygienic practices are bizarre and totally contrary to civilized society.

Hygien?

I remember seeing just a few years ago a recording of a China chicken slaughter house. The chicken had gone bad so they were using a bleaching agent to whiten the chicken, The place was essentially a small, low ceiling building with only a water hose for keeping it clean. No refrigeration for the raw meat which is just left out in the open. Rats can easily get at the meat when the place would close for the night.

Farming? Chinese farmers use something called “morning dew” for fertiliser. Where plumbing is more or less non-existent, carts come around collecting human waste in the morning. China sells a lot of vegetables and nuts to the world grown in human waste. Let me repeat, in human waste.

There are the fish farms that get the runoff from the other farms using morning dew. Knowing this, why do we buy food from China?

Years ago milk was found to have melamine added to it and shipped to Australia. Caused lots of damage to children. Dog and cat foods poisoned lots of pets around the world. But have we learned to not import anything edible from China? No.

China use to export children’s jewellery made of lead. Oh joy!

Today I watched a video of a Chinese worker wiping his shoes on face masks destined for the US. Apparently, some Chinese have told workers who might be sick to cough on shipments to the US.

Buy cheap ceramic cups, bowls or plates from China? The glaze may contain high levels of lead and not properly baked.

One president of a company that makes 4 sensor remote electronic thermometers has conferenced with other companies suggesting to them to set the meters to read low if a person is sick. The meter will show 36°C but you will actually have a 39°C fever. He also sells electronics to the US and Europe.

Try to avoid anything and everything from China. You can put your life at risk if you do otherwise.

Good advice. We must learn to buy more homegrown products of all descriptions for ethical reasons and to support our own economies.

There was a famous US author who investigated slaughterhouses in the early 20th century in the USA (Upton Sinclair I believe). Rat hamburger and rat sausages weren’t just a myth.

All countries should stop all flights to China and ban all incoming Chinese until there is evidence that legislation and enforcement has been established to extinguish all wet markets and ban human consumption of animals known to be virus laden from Xhina and neighboring Asian countries that may have the same. BOOM!

Cats and Dogs have become mans trusted friends and you can not look upon these friends as food like you might do a pig or a cow. The reality is that the Chinese need to come out of this barbaric mindset that countless famines has brought about over the centuries or be treated as pariahs by the rest of the civilised world.

It doesn’t matter to China whether or not it is truly safe. Its saving face: we solved the problem, why can’t you? People shouldn’t get sick but they will. Its all a show, and any new illness will be quietly removed from view, just as it did during the great famine.

The wet markets are a cesspool of disease. How many people die of food poisoning from buying there? But shhhh! Don’t look, keep quiet – or else.

This is one of the few sites where you will find this story. I tried linking to this article in a comment in my local paper, the Boston Globe and it was quickly blocked. The MSM won’t touch it with the proverbial 10 foot pole. Another example of PC run amok.

Stay home, shelter in place, practice social distancing, but whatever you do don’t under any circumstances call attention to what caused this disaster in the first place.

Your right that it is oldish footage.
I looked at this exact same vid about a week ago but it’s now going to be difficult getting any fresh footage and I take the point of this report being that Nothing at all has changed and those chinks who started this are still acting in the same barbaric way.

When I was living in El Paso a new Chinese restaurant opened but the health department shut it down very soon after it opened. The health inspector found live ducks and chickens roaming freely around in the kitchen area.

You could bet your a** your Peking Duck was a fresh kill.

It appears the virus isn’t coming from the food they’re returning to, so is it possible that this corona virus is a man made bio weapon that was tested on its own population and went viral…..because Communists have no qualms about killing their own populations.

As Stalin said; one death is a tragedy, a million is a statistic.

Whatever people in other parts of the world eat, it is part of their diet, and their way of life. The army (Jungle Training) taught me that some protien may look disgusting in our culture, but not theirs.
I once had a dog. I kept it as a pet when he was being sold for food. We don’t eat dogs, but the matter is cultural. We see dogs strictly as pets or work animals, but Asians see them as food. In Europe, they eat horses, but these again, are our pets, and we don’t eat pets.
A farmer may give his milk-cow a name, and he may drink its milk, but that cow is not meant for slaughter. He could have a heard of cows, and slaughter them one at a time, but he won’t give them names first, or they would become a pet.
My wife is from South America. The Guinea Pig, known there as cuy, is a national dish that most Americans would not get near, but they eat it all the time, and it does not har,.
Yes, some animals carry disease, and we are all afraid of rabies. But viruses are killed when you cook the food, and should not be a problem in virl control.
So, we don’t eat our pets. What we keep as a pet may vary from country to country, just like a favorite dish. I hae eaten rabbit and turtle. I have eaten wild hogs and I ate Bambi. I have eaten rattlesnake and I have eaten insects as well, and so did you, even if you didn’t know it. The FDA allows some bug particles to be sold with your spices as well.
We are not in a position to tell an older civilization what they can and can not eat, especially if we think our diet is better. Their diet served them many years more than ours has us. I have been to China, and though the food may look less than appetizing, it will nourish. And it does not get you sick.
On the other hand, at one point I got a need to wander again. I mentioned it to a friend who wanted to tag along. We were in Cairo Egypt when he declared he could eat any food anybody else was eating. He spent the next three days in the bathroom.

It never was an issue of that market – that was smoke and mirrors – the ccp knew from the get go where this thing originated from it was/is a lab engineered bio – weapon..That mistakenly(?) got loose.
