UPDATE:

President Trump extends national social distancing guidelines through April

By: Emma Newburger, March 30, 2020:

President Donald Trump on Sunday extended the national social distancing guidelines to April 30 after suggesting that the coronavirus death rate would likely peak in two weeks.

“Nothing would be worse than declaring victory before the victory has been won,” Trump said at an evening press briefing. “Therefore we will be extending our guidelines to April 30.”

The president has previously said he wants to reopen the country for business by Easter, on April 12, despite warnings from public health experts that loosening restrictions would result in unnecessary death and economic damage.

However, Trump claimed on Sunday that Easter was just an “aspiration” and that he hopes the the country will “be well on our way to recovery” by June 1.

While he can issue federal guidelines, the president doesn’t have the power to decide if the country can reopen, as it’s the decision of each state. States across the country have ordered residents to stay mostly indoors and businesses. The CDC has ordered New York, New Jersey and Connecticut residents to avoid non-essential travel for 14 days.

South Korea reports 105 new virus cases to total 9,583 and fully recovered cases to 5,033.

The recovery rate for Covid-19 patients is now 52.5 percent, an achievement that the Korean CDC hailed in the fight against the illness.

The big deal, right now, are people returning to Korea from abroad. And, those pesky furriners. Some UK citizen, I believe he teaches English at a hakwon (little run down private “school”) returned from Thailand. Every one returning from out of country, is mandated by law to self-quarantine for a minimum of fourteen days. English “teachers” are considered, and in most instances rightfully so, extremely low class … “jangee”. And, obviously this jangee considered itself above the law. He rode busses, subways, met with people, rode his little bicycle … and it’s estimated that he infected fifty people. Now, if that jangee infected fifty people, how many people did those fifty infect?
College students, returning, from England, France, Australia, U.S., etc. …. Thousands returning.
Hopefully incidents, such as this one, will be kept to a minimum …. Hopefully.

They are supposed to be testing them at the airport.

With or without testing, everyone returning from a foreign (to the ROK) country is supposed to self-quarantine for a minimum of fourteen days. They are not to take public transportation, go to church, a restaurant, etc.
Hey, imagine living in an area where you can actually go to church ….

If I was a Muslim….

I could still attend my call to prayer. Warm camel pee and milk would cure me. If that wasn’t available, I could use some cotton swabs with a special oil on them shoved up my derriere to cure me. Another option would be to have my local Imam spit in a bootle of liquid and drink that up or it anti freeze is more readily available, drink that. You’re just jealous at all the options Mohammad and Muslims have suggested.

In some ways…. it’s okay with me. Let it spread in the Muslim community. Look at it this way, it’s faster permanent deportation to Muslim “paradise”.

I just heard from a guy out of Taiwan that they’re doing the same thing there and there are huge fines associated w/being found outside of your home/apartment during the quarantine.
I should’ve asked him if people from the PRC are allowed to immigrate to Taiwan (I’d hope not). Do they let people from the PRC immigrate to the ROK? Or JP?

Not so much immigrate. But, in Korea there’s a fairly large population of multi-generation Chinese. In Japan, I didn’t run into too many Chinamen.

Chinamen, there’s a word you don’t hear much these days, but I guess it’s better than Chinks (the business that fixes/repairs walls).

In addition, in Korea no one is forced to stay in their homes … other than those recently returning from abroad …. then it’s fourteen days and mandatory testing. The government, other than closing schools, hasn’t forced any businesses to close. It’s are not run by fascists, such as the U.S. is.
In this country, mayors and governors have power that would have made Hitler and Stalin pale with jealousy and envy.
And, the cowardly populace (I being one of said populace) simply bends over, grabs their ankles, and squeals how “it fees SO good”.

The powers that the authorities are enforcing now are like nothing we have ever seen before in the histories of our nations. I was on the beach a couple of days ago and the cops came along clearing everyone away. This is unprecedented and for the flimsiest of scares. Power is addictive and I can’t see them ever putting it back in the box.
How are you mate?
I was enquiring from a mutual friend of your whereabouts.
Although I don’t think this Wuhan Flu is as big as the authorities have built it up to be’ it’s still a very nasty bug and we all need to avoid it. Keep Healthy????

Taiwan has a good system as well, a common sense system that I wish the U. S. was using. So many of our governors and mayors are showing exactly what tyranny looks like.

I think he is hoping that it will peak around Easter and then go down hill after Easter. It’s a guessing game. We’ll see. It’s best to be prudent.

Agreed in full. This overblown scare must be treated calmly and not with the hysteria that we are witnessing.
I noted that both Boris and Trump tried to play the rational hand but were jumped on by the hysterical lefty led MSM which put them in such a position that they would have looked like guilty of murder no matter how many or few resulting deaths there were.
A very tricky political situation to say the least.

Around mid summer there’s going to be a lot of “experts” with egg on their faces when this body count fails to reach anything like the magnitude that is predicted.

Great! As a substitute teacher, no more school until August when the 2020 election gets into full swing and Trump’s landslide victory is soon to follow.

Education these days is the act of casting false pearls before real swine.

The entire world is undergoing a profound transformation. Globalization is dead, social, political and ethnic identities will become primary and the economy will become increasingly digital with lightning speed. The old order of liberal democracy is collapsing and nationalism rising. Never again will we allow our supply trains to be entrusted to the CCP. The Communist Chinese regime will collapse as it will be unable to earn the foreign exchange necessary to support its burgeoning population with aspirations that cannot be satisfied.

and with this decree, the donald is finished. america will have been destroyed from within by May 1, and americans will blame him. anyone else noticed that africa and indonesia, filled with chinese, don’t have the wuhan hysteria? israel is about on lock-down, but the neighboring muslim countries are business as usual. it’s only the predominantly white western civilization countries that are destroying themselves over this hysteria. this whole thing does not pass the smell test. i don’t know what’s going on or who is running this silent war on us, but it’s evil

Gee, only two weeks ago he was saying we had it under tremendous control. I suppose the problem has gotten so obvious even Trump had to listen to the experts and pay attention to the obvious.
