Why are they still here?
Trump eyes massive expulsion of suspected Chinese spies
Expulsion of almost all journalists for The New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal sparks talk of retaliationAsia Times,
Trump administration officials have intensified discussions over whether to expel employees of Chinese media outlets suspected of being spies, in retaliation for China’s planned expulsion of American journalists from major outlets, The New York Times reported.
Since the virus began spreading across the United States, Washington and Beijing have waged a global information war over the outbreak, the report said.
President Trump and his aides are trying to pin responsibility on China, where Communist Party officials initially covered up the dangers of the virus as it was first discovered. Trump, though, has been criticized for vast failures in the American response, the report said.

The officials now see an opening to make a strong case after Beijing abruptly announced this month that it would expel almost all American citizens who report from mainland China for The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal.
China also demanded those organizations, as well as Voice of America and Time magazine, turn over information on employees, budgets, assets and other operational details.
American officials view the state-run outlets in China as a potent threat in the growing strategic rivalry between the two superpowers, both because the outlets disseminate propaganda around the world and because of their ability to provide cover for intelligence operatives, the report said.
“Propaganda outlets that report to the Chinese Communist Party are foreign agents, not ‘journalists,’” the State Department spokeswoman, Morgan Ortagus, said on Twitter.
“Even General Secretary Xi says they ‘must speak for the Party,’” she added, referring to remarks that President Xi Jinping of China made in 2016 as he toured the headquarters of state-run media organizations.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has insisted on using the term “Wuhan virus” to refer to the coronavirus, stoking anger in Beijing, while President Trump used the term “Chinese virus” despite widespread criticism that the label is racist, the report said.
Meanwhile, a mid-level spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Zhao Lijian, has pushed the unsubstantiated conspiracy theory that the US Army might have taken the virus to Wuhan, where the pandemic began.
Against that backdrop of anger and distrust, some US officials want to move quickly against Chinese intelligence operatives, the report said, dealing China a massive blow.
Counterintelligence officials have more closely scrutinized the work of Chinese diplomats, journalists, scientists and others in the United States, though some critics have denounced this as a new “red scare.”
Any expulsion of Chinese employees at media outlets accused of conducting intelligence work could include ones based at the United Nations, where China has a permanent seat on the Security Council, the report said.
But most Chinese employees of state-run organizations work in Washington for large organizations.

Expelling Chinese spies would eliminate over 300,000 college students, and the majority of Chinese in the country.
More likely college and university students, or Chinese on work permits, than native born Chinese citizens.
good. the chicoms hate us and are our enemy. it’s time we woke up and started treating them as such
The Commie, Trudeau would take them…..He is Public Enemy Number One in Canada!
THEN THIS IS A GREAT IDEA.
Chinese news network, aka CNN, are chicoms assets.
It may sound like an impossible task , boycott Chinese goods when you can . That will help solve this problem faster than all this political huffing and puffing.
Sadly, next to impossible.
From food to medication, from auto and airplane parts to electronics, just about everything has a “Made in China” printed on it.
You can only try.
Walmart is the ChiComs’ biggest retailer. Would it go tits-up if we boycott ChiCom goods? One wonders…..
Do it!

Washington begins to wake up to China’s ‘influence operations’
By Josh Rogin December 12, 2017
Washington is waking up to the huge scope and scale of Chinese Communist Party influence operations inside the United States, which permeate American institutions of all kinds. China’s overriding goal is, at the least, to defend its authoritarian system from attack and at most to export it to the world at America’s expense.
The foreign-influence campaign is part and parcel of China’s larger campaign for global power, which includes military expansion, foreign direct investment, resource hoarding and influencing international rules and norms. But this part of China’s game plan is the most opaque and least understood. Beijing’s strategy is first to cut off critical discussion of China’s government, then to co-opt American influencers in order to promote China’s narrative.

When it is reported in the NY Times, question its veracity. It might be one of the more or less true stories about Trump it occasionally publishes, but with so many journeys into NeverNeverLand, who can believe it?
And if Chinese spies are expelled, who’s going to run the thousands of abandoned Chinese restaurants? Them muslims?
Good idea.
I’ll believe it – if – I see it…!
Good question. It seems Chinese spies with cameras are busted as frequently as drunk drivers, usually near military installations.
We must start cracking down on China. Limit their access to our markets. Expel their agents. Prosecute ALL politicians who have dirty dealings with them (Yeah, Biden and Piglosi, we’re looking at you). And FOR G0D’S SAKE!! WE MUST HAVE A BALANCED BUDGET!! China is just waiting for the day this country defaults!!
China is not our ally — they never have been. They should be handled as such.
It has been overdue to stop the Chinese invasion for over 30 years.
China’s unscrupulous dictators have been infiltrating western industrialized countries and the rest of the world for decades to steal knowledge and resources.
The USA, Canada, Europa, Australia, NZ etc. should limit contact to an absolute diplomatic minimum.
No one needs the miserable products from China, and their electronic products are used for espionage.
But it’s not just the “Chinese” who are responsible for the current situation!
The outsourcing of jobs to China (and not only to China …) to maximize profits for a few American and other Western industrialists and investors is much more than just a crime against their own people, it also leads to a permanent flagrant violation of human rights in China and similar countries.
Trump is on the right track – but what has been deliberately destroyed and misguided in decades by unscrupulous and godless predator capitalism cannot be fixed in 4 years.
The world needs the USA!
But the United States must use its power consistently and to safeguard its own legitimate interests: its own population must be in the focus of the United States first, and only a “united” United States can serve as a model and guarantor for our democratic, Christian occidental culture and civilization.
ChiCom oligarchs have bought most of the valuable property in the northwest, especially in Seattle, which just happens to be one the the foci of COVID-19
GLORY OF GOD!
Who is using who?
Great idea . . . expell them all !
And another thought . . . while you are at it . . . send CNN & MSNBC with them . . . lol
Chinese contributions to life in the USA . . .
Chinese are deliberately making defective thermometers. All Americans need to read this…. and remember the other “quality” products we have received from China:
— Toothpaste on American shelves made with a poison found in antifreeze
— Toxic Chinese drywall installed in about 100,000 U.S. homes, emitting noxious fumes that destroyed electrical wiring and metal fixtures and sickened homeowners. Replacement of the drywall, pipes and wiring cost Americans billions of dollars.
— Hundreds, possibly thousands, of American dogs killed by melamine-laced wood paneling shredded in Chinese dog food in 2007.
Long past time to stop subjecting US Citizens to Chinese Junk !
Are you aware that over 30k Chinese alone work for our defense department on secret projects?
Newt Gingrich has a book, Trump vs China, which describes the efforts China has made to displace the US as world leader in technology, commerce and military activity, by any means necessary.
China and the US have negotiated deals, agreements, and arrangements for China to stop stealing intellectual property, which they have been doing to the tune of about. Six hundred billion dollars per year and have been doing for years through multiple administrations going back to Nixon’s.
The Chinese have violated every. One of them, not just ina few details, but massively, and no administration has done anything about it, so it has continued unabated. The total worth of intellectual property in the US is about six trillion dollars.
What Trump has done in response to China is way overdue, but Trump has sustained, massive resistance from every corner, internationally, the Democrats, the Media, The multinational corporations, the free trade Republicans, even the labor unions.
Likely, things will continue as usual after Trump leaves the White House, either this year or in 4 more years.
Newt Gingrich is strongly supportive of Trump, but he had little backing from Republicans and strong opposition from Democrats.
Biden said China wasn’t a competitor to the US, although he’s backpeddaled some, but you can see how much he’s going to prevent China from exploiting the US after reviewing the one and a half billion dollar deal his son Hunter entered into with a Chinese government affiliated investment house.
Bloomberg, one of the richest men in the world, is possibly the American most heavily invested in China’s economy including bonds.
So expell the Chinese Communistspies, but China will likely still be able to find out what’s going on in the US while China remains a secret, closed society.
expendable – get rid of them – we don’t need them
What about Bloomberg which is Totally In The Tank helping the Chinese communists pump out propaganda? Maybe they were NOT kicked out, because they are doing a great “useful idiot” job for the totalitarian regime?
And what about Twitter… and Google… and other tech firms staying? Perhaps they are allowed to stay, because they can do a better job disseminating lies faster than the old-timey print media?
