A terrified woman was today dragged by police before she was publicly caned in Indonesia’s Aceh province for having sex outside of marriage, a crime punishable under strict local Islamic law.
Dozens gathered to watch as the humiliated woman was whipped along with seven other people outside a mosque in the provincial capital Banda Aceh.

A masked sharia officer known as an ‘algojo’ rained down between five to 45 lashes from a rattan cane on their backs after they were caught with members of the opposite sex.

The men and women were rounded up by religious officers after they reportedly had intercourse outside marriage – which violates Aceh province’s strict Sharia laws.
Despite widespread criticism, public whipping is a common punishment for a range of offences in the deeply conservative region at the tip of Sumatra island, including gambling, drinking alcohol, and having gay sex or relations outside of marriage.
Aceh is the only region in the world’s biggest Muslim-majority country that imposes Islamic law.
Authorities gave few details, but couples have been whipped in the past for cuddling or holding hands in public.

It’s bloody f’ing infantile but I suppose it’s better than getting stoned to death in some other islamic sh!tehole like Iran, Turkey or Afghanistain.
I’d be really interested to see what kind of “trial” the accused had in Indonesiastain. For all we know the accusation might be sufficient proof for a conviction.
But lets not forget she was cheating on her husband and he might have been an ok person. Having been through two marraiges myself which all came to an end because my wives cheated on me while I was at work, At least there is a punishment for it. In the UK no one says or does anything. Again as an after thought as you say she might be com-pletely innocent.
The charges only stated outside of marriage, so maybe she wasn’t married at all.
Over on wikiislam.net there are testimonials of muslums and ex-muslims. One of them is from a Turkish muslum woman whose sister was stoned to death for becoming pregnant outside of wedlock. Even though her boyfriend said he would marry her and loved her it didn’t matter. She was stoned to death, the whole village knew about it and no one reported it to the authorities — not even the boyfriend, who apparently had a nervous breakdown after the murder of his girlfriend.
Don’t get me wrong, I was not supporting the islamic agenda in any way, just the infidelity, if it was true, hit a raw nerve. that was all.
