Pete Buttigieg Ends Democratic Presidential Bid
Former South Bend, Ind., mayor ran campaign built around a call for generational change

Story continues below advertisementPete Buttigieg, the openly gay former mayor of South Bend, Ind., has dropped out of the presidential race following a poor showing in South Carolina’s Democratic primary, according to two campaign aides.
Mr. Buttigieg, 38 years old, built his presidential campaign around a call for generational change and a stated willingness to work across the political aisle. His candidacy was also a bet that Democratic voters would reject the much-expanded government role in health care and other sectors proposed by rivals such as Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.
Mr. Buttigieg, like former Vice President Joe Biden, supported a plan to extend a public insurance option to more people but protect private health insurance, rather than the Medicare for All plan preferred by his liberal rivals. He called for free public college tuition for many Americans but not the wealthiest people.
“I’m here to launch the era that must come next,” Mr. Buttigieg said at a major party fundraising event in Iowa in November. “I am ready to gather up an American majority that is hungry for change, that is done with division.”
Mr. Buttigieg had heavily focused his campaign on Iowa, particularly as senatorial rivals were stuck in Washington hearing testimony in President Trump’s impeachment trial. Strong fundraising allowed Mr. Buttigieg to spend heavily in Iowa, including on roughly 170 employees working out of 33 offices. That paid off when he essentially tied Mr. Sanders for the lead in Iowa. He also came in a close second in New Hampshire’s primary.
But he lagged behind other candidates in national surveys of Democratic voters and struggled to pick up much support among African-Americans, a significant party constituency in South Carolina and in states that hold primaries in March and later. He faced criticism from activists for his handling of a shooting by a white police officer of a black man in South Bend.
About 40% of Mr. Buttigieg’s staff and leadership ranks were nonwhite, according to his campaign, but some staffers expressed frustration about the campaign’s approach to reaching minority voters.
The former mayor’s White House bid irked some of his 2020 competitors because of his comparatively thin political résumé and low national profile. Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar said during one debate that a woman with his experience level wouldn’t be on the debate stage.
Mr. Buttigieg drew comparisons between himself and former President Obama, also a relatively young candidate with less experience in Washington than his competitors in his first White House bid.
Mr. Buttigieg became the youngest mayor of a city with more than 100,000 residents when he won his post at age 29 in 2011 with 74% of the vote. In 2015, during his re-election bid, Mr. Buttigieg came out as gay in a local newspaper column and was re-elected with 80% of the vote in the heavily Democratic city.
That came after an unsuccessful campaign for treasurer of Indiana in 2010. He also failed to win the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee in 2017.

Personally speaking I find it disgusting. I am glad he ended his Presidency. He is a slick one and would have been another grueling embarrassment as well as destroying our country.
I believe Obama was also a homosexual but at least he kept that in the closet as he pushed LBGTQ+ policies saving trannies for last.

The return to nature is also natural relations between humans.

Mayor Pete is not and never will be GOD’S choice as President of the U.S.A. TRY AGAIN, PETE, AFTER THE RAPTURE TAKES PLACE.
Having a gay person lead this great, great country, sets a very BAD example that condones this kind of perverted, devious and sinful/unrighteous lifestyle and behavior. Pete may be a nice guy. He may even have some good ideas, but HIS LACK OF JUDGEMENT in marrying ANOTHER perverted, devious and sinful/unrighteous person, IS HIS CHARACTER.
