And now for the first time one of those friends has come forward to reveal exactly how Omar and Ahmed Elmi scandalized the Somali community in Minneapolis.

‘No one knew there had been a wedding until the media turned up the marriage certificate years later,’ Osman, 40, exclusively told DailyMail.com.
Osman’s revelations are sure to renew calls for an investigation into the Minnesota freshman representative who has repeatedly refused to answer questions on her marriage to Elmi.
She originally said the idea that the spouses were also siblings were ‘baseless, absurd rumors’, accusing journalists of Islamophobia, but has since stayed quiet.

Her spokesman told DailyMail.com that Omar, 37, does not comment on her family or personal life.‘The Congresswoman is focused on the work her constituents sent her to Washington to accomplish,’ he said.
Omar married her first husband Hirsi in 2002 in a Muslim ceremony that, like many in the immigrant community, was not registered with the state.
Their first child Isra was born the following year and a second followed.
But in the late 2000s Elmi appeared in Minneapolis, said Osman, who referred to Hirsi by his nickname ‘Southside’ throughout the interview.
‘People began noticing that Ilhan and Southside (Hirsi) were often with a very effeminate young guy,’ Osman said, who spoke in Somali through an interpreter.
‘He was very feminine in the way he dressed — he would wear light lipstick and pink clothes and very, very, short shorts in the summer. People started whispering about him.
‘[Hirsi] and Ilhan both told me it was Ilhan’s brother and he had been living in London but he was mixing with what were seen as bad influences that the family did not like.
‘So they sent him to Minneapolis as ”rehab”.’
Osman, who runs a popular Facebook blog called Xerta Shekh, which comments on Somali issues, said that Omar kept her marriage to Elmi quiet, with no one from the Somali community invited to the wedding.
He explained: ‘When [Hirsi] and Ilhan got married, a lot of people were invited. It was a big Islamic wedding uniting two large clans in the Minneapolis community.
‘I would say there were 100-150 people there.’
But, he said: ‘When she married Elmi, no one even knew about it.’
Osman said at the time Hirsi was better known than Omar among Somalis. ‘He was a footballer, he promoted a lot of Somali shows, he was very popular.
‘So the scandal was about [Hirsi’s] brother-in-law more than Ilhan’s brother.’
It has long been rumored that Omar and Elmi are brother and sister.
But because of a lack of paperwork in war-torn Somalia where they were both born, positive proof of their relationship has never been uncovered.

The leftist congresswoman, 37, spent months denying she had split from husband Ahmed Hirsi despite this website revealing she had left their marital home and was having an affair with a campaign aide. Omar finally filed for divorce from Hirsi (pictured together) on October 7The first report that Omar and her husband were siblings appeared on the website Somalispot in 2016. It said of Elmi, 34: ‘As soon as Ilhan Omar married him he started university at her alma mater North Dakota State University where he graduated in 2012.
‘Shortly thereafter, he moved to Minneapolis where he was living in a public housing complex and was later evicted. He then returned to the United Kingdom.’
The New York Post reported last month that the FBI was investigating the marriage and had met with a source in Minneapolis who handed over ‘a trove of documents’ related to the marriage.
Any findings were to be shared with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the US Department of Education, the paper reported. Anyone found guilty of committing marriage fraud faces up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $250,000.
Elmi and Omar married on February 12, 2009 at a Hennepin County office in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, southwest of Minneapolis, their marriage license shows. Omar said she and Hirsi had separated in 2008, and because their faith-based union was never recognized by law, neither is their separation.
Elmi and Omar said they lived together at an address in Columbia Heights, a suburb on the north side of the city.
The marriage was conducted by Christian minister Wilecia Harris. When DailyMail.com approached her last year, she would not discuss the ceremony or why a Muslim couple would have asked her to marry them.
She and her husband Marcus run the Great and Mighty Works Ministries in Richfield, Minnesota, which is described on its Facebook page as a ‘nondenominational, Bible believing, Bible teaching, and Bible living ministry that believes in being a living example of Jesus the anointed one!’

Bill sponsor Sen. Deidre Henderson, R-Spanish Fork, said the legislation does four things:
1. reclassifies the crime of bigamy from a felony to an infraction;
2. classifies bigamy as a 3rd degree felony if the person is marrying “under false pretenses”;
3. classifies “threatening or coercing” someone to enter a bigamous relationship as a 3rd degree felony; and
4. classifies it as a 2nd degree felony if a felony offense occurs concurrently.
Henderson said the purpose of the bill is to “codify long-standing policy of the Utah Attorney General’s Office and the other county attorneys” regarding law-abiding consenting adults who practice polygamy while also allowing for enhanced penalties for those who commit other serious crimes.

I am also non-denominational, Bible believing, doing my best to be Bible living, but don’t believe Christian ministers should marry non-Christian people to their brother. You would be amazed at how hated I am, particularly among my own siblings who go to church every week and feel absolutely no temptation to tell the truth about anything. It’s enough to make your head spin. If I didn’t know God accepts me and wants me to grow I couldn’t take what I have to endure from CINO’s.

I am quite sure that most non-believers are disgusted by incest, immigration fraud, etc., on a visceral level, just like me. I have to tell you that Jesus is the real deal. There is tons of proof of his prophesied miraculous birth, his teaching, healing, and casting out spirits that caused mental and physical infirmity, his crucifixion, escape from a tomb guarded by Roman soldiers, his Resurrection , and subsequent 40 days of ministry, etc. Much of it is written by Jews who were not believers, but who witness the truth. He loves you so and wants to restore you to what was designed for you when he gave you your soul. I hope someday you find out that I am telling you the truth in great love. I am accustomed to being rejected. It’s okay. I think you are too good to spend eternity with Ilhan Omar. Please sit down someday with an humble and open heart and ask Jesus if he is who people say he is. He is delighted to come to anyone who wants to know the truth. And he is a good God. Once we can overcome our human pride in our own way of thinking finding Jesus is pure joy.

I understand your belief and I know of its importance to you and I recognize your wish to spread the “good news” just like every other evangelical Christian here wants to do and does, repeatedly.
But your reasons for being here are irrelevant and OT.
As for JoN my views about him are no longer public material and I do not care what you think of my relationship with him or my opinion of him. You have no idea just how often I have wasted my time with such a post.
Your and my motivations behind our political views are irrelevant. The fact is that I support the position of Trump and the role of church in a western state(but not as a controlling agent) and I abhor the atheistic teaching of our children not to mention that drag queens make me feel physically ill..
But it also implies that I know nothing about religion and have never thought hard and carefully and read much and long, on that very subject to arrive at my current still flexible position and yes it is then an insult. But not to my pride, but to my intelligence and that possessed by all those in a similar boat.
Christians will not win this war by themselves and allies should be respected whatever their views or their reasons for being such. Every week I see more and more non believers and non Christians coming over to our side on ethical grounds and to literally spit on them as do so many here is crazy as without them it cannot be won. Anyone who disagrees with that should have a good look at the world right now.

Michelle, I am so sorry I offended you. I could tell by your post that you are an upright person and I hated to think of you ending up after death in exactly the same eternal address as Ilhan Omar and every other person who rejects the only one who is their Creator. People meet their end unexpectedly all the time. It is human nature to like our own thinking. Unfortunately our intellect is finite. We change our minds as we grow. God’s thinking is perfect all the time. The pride of our own intellect is the major barrier to receiving salvation and that ultimately will get one to eternal separation from the light of this world; Jesus.
I am willing to agree with you and not answer anyone here with a reference to God except for the few I know to be Christian. In fact, I have been consider unsubscribing to this blog for a while just because I need to use my time more wisely.
What I am not is a coward. It would be much easier to be a like the Secular Humanists with a thin veneer of Christianity that are prevalent in my family. They get along with the world just fine and don’t speak up against the insanity of things like having bizarrely dressed and made up perverted monsters reading to kids in the library.
I was 57 years old when I found out God really did love me; decades after repentance of sin. It was not uncommon in the 1950’s for some authoritarian, religious spirited people to twist the words of the Bible into something that would bring about the wrong kind of fear of the Lord to ensure well behaved, Stepford like children who were not allowed to think, question, or process information on their own. I rejected that God as any thinking person would. The Bible prohibits twisting God’s Word to bring about your own agenda. A lot of parents somehow decided parents get an exemption. That is evil and no good can come of it. But that’s what I had. God is so good. I would give anything if I had known that early in life. But it has given me a strong desire for others to know the truth.

You didn’t need to reply at all. I can see you are an honest person. I acted only out of genuine love. Jesus said his Kingdom is not of this earth. I oppose the horrors brought on by religion married to earthly kingdoms. But Jesus is not about religion. He is about restoring relationship. At any rate I have made the decision to not concern myself with the souls of people on this site. And I sincerely thank you for helping me make that decision. I believe it is the correct one.
