Israel and Sudan reach milestone after historic summit

“We agreed to begin cooperation that will lead to normalization of relations between the two countries,” Netanyahu tweets after meeting Sudanese leader.

by Associated Press , Israel Hayom Staff, February 3, 2020:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with the leader of Sudan on Monday and said they began talks on normalization, a major diplomatic breakthrough with an Arab and African state two days after the Arab League rejected a US Mideast initiative.

Sudan is a longtime member of the Arab League and joined other members in rejecting President Donald Trump’s plan. But Sudan is also desperate to lift sanctions linked to its listing by the US as a state sponsor of terror – a key step toward ending its isolation and rebuilding its economy after the popular uprising that toppled longtime dictator Omar al-Bashir last year.

Story continues below advertisement

For Israel, the meeting marks a major step toward improving ties with both Arab and African countries, and further burnishes Netanyahu’s diplomatic credentials as he seeks re-election in March under a cloud of corruption charges.–

In a sign of the sensitivities involved, the meeting with Gen. Abdel-Fattah Burhan, the head of Sudan’s transitional government, was kept secret, with Netanyahu only announcing it after the fact.

“We agreed to begin cooperation that will lead to normalization of relations between the two countries,” Netanyahu tweeted. “History!”

Netanyahu’s office said the meeting came at the invitation of Uganda. It said Netanyahu “believes that Sudan is moving in a new and positive direction, and the prime minister expressed his views to the US Secretary of State” – an apparent reference to removal from the terror list.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo invited Burhan to visit the United States in a phone call on Sunday. The date of the visit has not yet been set.

Under al-Bashir, Sudan was also believed to have served as a pipeline for Iran to supply weapons to Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip. Israel was believed to have been behind airstrikes in Sudan that destroyed a convoy in 2009 and a weapons factory in 2012.

Sudan hosted the Arab League summit after the 1967 war that became famous for establishing the “three no’s”: No to peace with Israel, no to recognition of Israel and no to negotiations with Israel.

That consensus broke down when Egypt signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1979, and has further eroded in recent years as Israel has improved ties with Gulf Arab nations that share its concerns about Iran. Establishing diplomatic ties with Sudan would be seen in Israel as a major achievement. Only two Arab states, Egypt and Jordan, have made peace with Israel.

(Includes Sudan)

Trump administration implements travel restrictions on six countries
by Anthony Leonardi
January 31, 2020 05:06 PM

(I’d rather have SEVEN countries.)

Citizens from Nigeria, Eritrea, Myanmar, and Kyrgyzstan are disallowed from applying for immigration visas into the United States under the new policy. Sudan and Tanzania, two African countries, will be prohibited from the U.S. diversity lottery program, which selects 50,000 random immigrants from underrepresented countries and grants them green cards. Many recipients of the program are from African countries.

The six countries join a list of seven other countries, most of which are majority-Muslim. Trump signed his first travel ban on Jan. 27, 2017, one week into his first term. However, unlike the travel bans placed on five of those countries — Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, and Yemen — travelers who wish to travel from the newly added countries can do so for business or pleasure.

Why would anyone want to normalize relations w/a muslum slave state again? Does that imply Israel APPROVES of the fact the f’ing muslums in the Sudan enslave the unbeliever in islum? Really?

Israel has been busy recruiting “allies” in Africa for quite a while and this is typical. What will matter is just how long this lasts as the Sudanese are probably hoping for some Arab/Persian oil bribery to deny it.

Or maybe the Sudan is hoping to export its overflowing population of muslum vermin to Israel.

I doubt it as Sudan wants money and Israel is cultivating UN support via these countries. I am sure that they still hate Jews but the money will do for now. There is no way Israel would take in any more muslims.

I see your point, what muslum despot would refuse some sweet, unearned jizya payments from Israel? Especially if they can get it while still enslaving tens of thousands of Christians? It’s a win-win!

Not quite as simple as that. Have a look at who else has now ties with Israel in Africa. None of them are shining examples of a liberal democracy (in its correct meaning). Israel is at war and you cannot be too fussy about allies as we saw in WW2. Their help is actually more than just bribing the elite as they actually HELP the people via water machines, crop management etc. If they are allowed to continue the alliances they WILL have a positive effect upon the African states that islam never has.

Alliances with muslum states only last as long as its convenient for the muslums. Coalition forces liberated Kuwait from Saddam, but they hardly turned into a liberal, secular democracy following that. The USA liberated Iraq from Saddam’s tyranny and what was the first thing the f’ing muslums did w/their new found democracy?
Go ahead, go ahead and guess.

I’m waiting.

They voted in Sharia law.

If you had checked you would find that they are mostly targeting African countries with muslim minorities but who are at risk from jihadists. No real idea why they picked Sudan unless it was just to annoy muslims. I was wondering if the report actually meant South Sudan as many muslim states refuse to recognize its independence and the reason then is obvious.

The maximum one can hope from a backward, destitute country like Sudan is to cooperate with the US/Israel on the war on terror (intelligence cooperation re red sea security + presence / influence in east Africa region) and to engage with the US / Israel economically (alternative to China re trade / infrastructure / military assistance…)

The previous dictator in Sudan Al Bashir, was the entrenched / slave driving / anti western / pro Iranian SOB, he was toppled by this guy (with the help of Saudi Arabia / UAE and probably Israel) which seems to want to build bridges and establish good relations with the US (he believes Netanyaho is that bridge)

International relations derive from convergence of national interests* which are prioritized…

At this early point, war on terror and geopolitical / regional security interests are of a higher priority then the fate of enslaved non Muslims, but In the future, after the relationship is more established, also that should come into play

The US must be patient with this stuff because every Arab nation that joins the US orbit is another alley re war on terror, trade, denial of Chinese influence, a primitive 3rd world country with a dominating religion / culture like Islam, can not change over night…

* US / Israeli multi faceted relations (Army / intelligence / economy / international relations / science / culture) are far deeper and wider then most Americans know to the extreme benefit of both sides

Muslums are slaughtering/persecuting/enslaving the kufar all over the world but China is the real threat?
If muslums are your f’ing allies pal then who are your enemies? The kufar?
Then are still tens of thousands of kufar slaves (mostly Christian) in the Sudan.

We must have straight talk backed up by Wikiislam.net with Muhammadists all around the globe.
We must have the common goal of
– freeing the African slaves from Saudi Arabia, north-Sudan to Mauritania
– preventing declitorization
– & freeing people incarcerated for doubting the deliverence through Muhammadism.
We must create a working global government based on the ethical values of health, ecology, english (US), knowledge & Globalfirm.

I agree w/you on all your points except: it’s not enough that people speak English but that they must speak US English? As in everyone across the world?

Though one can have its reservations about what this discussion between these two nations might actually mean and what it might accomplish, better that they talk about how to better present relationships while approaching any resolution with skepticism. If these countries have now finally come to the conclusion that trying to emulate Israel’s accomplishments is in their best interests, good for them.

When you have historic summits w/totalitarian, theocratic, fascist, religious apartheid muslum states it’s not something you should crow about, when you do so w/muslum slave states it’s something you should deny.
