@ DaveSWFL says,”Cag, That’s great for launch week. The tale will be told at the end of the year.
I’m guessing many dealers buy launch week. How many will they return (dang, 70s are scarce) and how many PO’ed individuals will not buy (later purchasers who bundled in the past to cut shipping cost)?”

    That very well could happen.

I was Shocked that sales have been as good as they are…

  2. KEITHSTER says

If they put 2&2 together might go for!? See the 1/4 & 1/2 A.G.E.’s have been up again with 1or2 then gone. Well Good Luck All”>O<" O <"

  3. DaveSWFL says

My take on the obverse is that It appears that the war was 75 years long! Seems to me the true start and end dates would be more appropriate.
There are several designs with nice features. But did anyone wear the Roman helmet in WWI?
Sure hope someday soon we will quit sending our youth to be slaughtered.
    Peace to all.

@QUI T: what do your posts about Greta Thunberg have to do with US Mint products? Please let’s stay on the general topic of coins, precious metals, etc…..

  7. Qui Transtulit Sustinet says

    @Harry B—

My two most recent posts are about the scoundrel Steven Mnuchin, who is Secretary of the Treasury (fifth in the line of succession to the Presidency) and therefore , RESPONSIBLE FOR THE U. S. MINT, not Greta Thunberg, whom Mnuchin felt compelled to criticize to please the POTUS, who did so previously after she beat him out for the TIME magazine “Person of the Year” honor.

The link was also about the economic effects of the divestiture of fossil fuel stocks.

The (asinine) Treasury Secretary Mnuchin, Stocks and Commodities are hardly foreign topics on this blog.

Staying on topic on this blog is much less of a concern than the dwindling number of posts on any topic.

  8. datadave says

@cagcrisp – You have posted before about gold and silver bullion sales. Do you care to post about final 2018 proof eagle sales and where 2019 sales stand in comparison? But if they reprice the gold matrix for 2020, sales will probably drop even further.

In a market of declining interest in physical bullion, who are they going to sell anything with the high premiums?

I hope they choose WWII-O-10 because it’s just so horrible and gross that they should choose it. I would never buy one but I’m not buying any war memorabilia anyway.

It’s like a b-movie that’s so bad that it’s good in a strange perverse way.

Plus, it represents trannies so it’s extra inclusive.

Also, that teenager on the autistic spectrum with climate anxieties (due to media hyperbole) is being used in a public relations ploy to garner support from people with her sensibilities in order to affect global economic policy.

She’s a sad yet compelling figure and she’s playing her role perfectly. She’s being coached by media professionals.

….”for the sake of the children” , like “in god we trust” is empty sloganeering like the other propaganda found on our coins and currency.

    Good for Secretary Mnuchin.

Why in the world are comments to this board “Moderated” if Qui Transtulit Sustinet left-wing political trash posts with virtually no connection to US Mint issues allowed?

Progressives destroy everything they are allowed to infiltrate.

    Moderators…hello!??!?!

Currently I watch zero conventional television programming but lots of Youtube. In the last week or two I’ve been getting hit daily (or more) with a US Mint ad. Anyone else see this? There’s a hatted rancher walking around a western landscape scene with mountain sized gold Buffs and Eagles in the backround. Anyway, I was halfway impressed the Mint has finally deployed some targeted internet advertising.

    From WSJ:

“More than one-fifth of the world’s population could have access to digital money issued by central banks to pay for groceries, movie tickets and even homes in the next few years, as these institutions accelerate plans to issue official cryptocurrencies.

One in 10 central banks surveyed in 2019 said it was likely to offer digital currencies within the next three years, covering about 20% of the world’s population, according to a report from the Bank for International Settlements. The proportion of central banks likely to issue digital money almost doubled when the horizon was stretched to six years, the BIS said.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said in November the U.S. central bank doesn’t currently have plans to launch a digital currency. Doing so would be difficult in the U.S., with Americans remaining more committed to cash than other nations, he said.”

    Let’s See…

Launch day for the 2019 Reverse Proof Palladium AM fix for Palladium was $1,598.00
01/23/2020 AM fix for Palladium was $2,479.00

…SO… Since Launch Palladium AM fixes we’re UP 55.1%

Launch day for the 2019 Reverse Proof Palladium a Palladium ETF (PALL) closed at $152.28
    01/23/2020 PALL closed at $234.23

…SO…Since Launch an ETF that tracks Palladium (PALL) is UP 53.8%

Now this is NOT a recommendation for the ETF PALL. I have Not researched anything about the PALL ETF, however, I have recommended using the Gold ETF (GLD) and the Silver ETF (SLV) instead of buying physical Gold or Silver Bullion.

Since Launch the United States Mint has recorded total sales of the 2019 Reverse Proof Palladium coin at 15,711.

As of yesterday, there have been a Total of 9 2019 Reverse Proof Palladium coins that have been sold on eBay that has shown a profit when you consider Free Shipping, an initial purchase price of $1,987.50 and eBay and PayPal fees of 12.9%

…Thus… IF you were correct and guessed the direction of Palladium and bought an ETF you were UP yesterday by 53.8% and IF you are one of the 15,711 that bought the Palladium coin your looking at an eBay selling price of $2,281.86 just to Break Even. Purchase at $1,987.50 and sell at $2,281.86 to Break Even.

The same thing applies to purchasing a Numismatic Gold Buffalo or a Numismatic American Gold Eagles. It’s just too hard to pay a premium of $377.50 for an American Gold Eagle or a premium of $410.00 for a Gold Buffalo and then upon selling you have to pay 12.9%.

Pay a Premium to purchase from the United States Mint and a Discount to sell on eBay…

@larry – I bet you need a card to rent but you can settle the bill in cash at the end of the rental. I think they are targeting restaurants mostly. NYC is crazy with regulations. My feeling is if they don’t take cash and I want to pay in cash I would just go somewhere else. Most businesses here want cash so they don’t have to pay the vig on the card.

  18. Mintman says

    @datadave
Why bother settling in cash when You could get 1-5% cash back and settle the bill at the end of the month
