Manhattan suspect freed without bail Friday in assault case is busted again

Serial assault suspect Eugene Webb became a two-time winner under New York’s lenient new bail laws at a court hearing Saturday night.
At Webb’s arraignment on his second arrest within a week, a Manhattan Criminal Court judge decided the law that took effect Jan. 1 barred him from ordering Webb to post cash or bond to avoid being jailed while awaiting trial.
Normally, such a decision would have allowed Webb, 26, to walk free. But Judge Michael Gaffey came up with another solution — he ordered Webb to be taken to a hospital.
“Based upon the recent acts and the assaults on people, and based upon the evidence that I see here before me and the aspects, Mr. Webb appears confused and disheveled,” the judge said. “And based upon that, I believe that he may have mental illness and may be a harm to himself, to others.”
The suspect was escorted out of the courtroom by a half-dozen officers. It wasn’t clear what hospital he’d be sent to.Webb was busted Friday for his hostile panhandling outside a Greenwich Village bank, said police. That bust came just eight hours after he was freed without bail on charges he physically assaulted three Manhattan women.Webb admitted he was high after smoking synthetic marijuana in between his Friday release and his latest arrest, sources indicated.
After Webb’s bust earlier in the week on the assault charges, a Manhattan judge — citing the state’s controversial new laws expected to eliminate cash bail in about 90% of arrests — ordered Webb’s released without bail despite prosecutors’ pleas that the repeat offender be held on $10,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.

Serial slugger arrested again hours after release under bail reform law

Eugene Webb, 26, was arrested Friday night for aggressive panhandling near a bank entrance in Greenwich Village, just one day after he was hauled in for allegedly slugging a 23-year-old woman in the face so hard that two of her teeth were knocked out.
Webb, who police say is homeless, also attacked a second woman near Grand Central Terminal just hours after the Wednesday attack, punching the 35-year-old and kicking the back of her head, prosecutors said.
But despite a long rap sheet of at least four other arrests, Judge Ann Thompson cut the serial slugger loose under the state’s new bail reform regulations at his Friday morning arraignment.
A few hours later, Webb —who grinned as he left court—was back on his old turf in the Village, where cops caught him aggressively panhandling within 10 feet of a Chase Bank entrance on W. 4th Street near Grove Street at about 7 p.m., authorities said.
When the officers tried to stop Webb, he fled into the street.
Police nabbed him at the corner of W. 3rd Street and 6th Avenue, where they searched him and found a glass pipe containing what appeared to be the drug K2, police said.
Webb was hit with a slew of charges, including reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration, and two violations of local law.

“…Mr. Webb appears confused..” Well, he sure as hell isn’t that confused that he knows better than to attack a capable looking male. He has enough presence of mind to attack 2 defenseless women like the sniveling, cowardly bully that he is. He has always avoided confronting any males who appear physically capable of defending themselves. So typical of these followers of a degenerate dwarf.

Manhattan DA has 1300 lawyers in his agency plus a similar number of clerical support staff if they can’t or won’t prosecute criminals fire them all and use the funds to purchase firearms for citizens so people can defend themselves. The 2nd amendment is our best defense against violent street crime.

So what really happened? The judge now gave him a way out by being declared incompetent at the time of the second attack, and possibly at there first attack because of drugs.
That, at least to me and I suspect almost everyone else, should not make someone innocent. Seeing what has been going on with US courts, and a recent case in France where an antisemite muslim was freed of murder, a Leftist judge might let this heathen loose on the public again.
