Saturday Night Cinema: American Sniper

7

Tonight’s Saturday Night Cinema classic is American Sniper, in tribute to the American soldiers who protect and defend our freedoms, for without their brave service, evil would indeed prevail upon us all. As Band of Mothers Bev Perlson reminds us of all President Trump  he has done for our military. Those who risk their lives for each of us deserve the utmost respect from us, and most of all, get it from their Commander-in-Chief.

U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) takes his sole mission — protect his comrades — to heart and becomes one of the most lethal snipers in American history. His pinpoint accuracy not only saves countless lives but also makes him a prime target of insurgents. Despite grave danger and his struggle to be a good husband and father to his family back in the States, Kyle serves four tours of duty in Iraq.

From director Clint Eastwood comes “American Sniper,” starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history. But there was much more to this true American hero than his skill with a rifle. U.S. Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms. His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname “Legend.” However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents. Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family at home, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, becoming emblematic of the SEAL creed to “leave no man behind.” But upon returning home, Chris finds that it is the war he can’t leave behind. I recently watched this movie for the first time. I went back and watched the Bill O’Reilly interview with Chris and O’Reilly pretty much treated him like a hostile witness. I wonder if Bill would like that one back.
