Look what happened to the Christians of Bethlehem

43

The Christian population in the territories controlled by the racist Palestinian Authority are being cleansed. Naturally the world will again give the Palestinian Authority a pass for their grotesque racism and human rights violations.

Story continues below advertisement

Lies Palestinians tell at Christmas

One fable is that they are trapped in Bethlehem behind walls and checkpoints. Yet the Christian population has fallen dramatically while the Muslim one has increased exponentially! It’s a checkpoint where Christians leave and Muslims enter.

By Israel National News, December 25, 2019:

When Israel relinquished control of Bethlehem to Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Authority as part of the Oslo Accord agreement in 1995, 85% of those living in this then prosperous town were middle class Christians. Business and life were good when it was part of Israel.

By Christmas 2019, Christians are less than 10% of the population in an economically stricken town.

How did this come about?

In 1995, Elias Freij was that the last Christian mayor of Bethlehem. He appealed to Israeli Prime Minister, Yizchak Rabin, not to withdraw from the city as part of the Accords due to his fear for the future of Christians in Bethlehem. Rabin wanted an official and public statement from the mayor to that effect to take to the negotiations. Freij and the church authorities refused Rabin’s request, and the rest is a tragic page in Christian history.

The Palestinian leadership, as usual, blames the security wall for the current situation. They talk of Israel turning Bethlehem into a prison.”

The British artist, Banksy, has advanced his reputation in left-wing circles by promoting propaganda graffiti scrawled on walls throughout Bethlehem. He has even built a hotel in Bethlehem called the Walled-Off Hotel which is full of imagery damaging to Israel such as a nativity scene in front of a section of security wall with a shattered bullet hole which he calls “The Scar of Bethlehem.”

All this propaganda demonizes Israel and projects Palestinian Arabs as “oppressed victims”.

Nowhere in Banksy’s work is there a mention of Palestinian terror, promoted and rewarded by the Palestinian Authority, a prolonged terror campaign that has murdered over a thousand Israelis and made the security barrier a necessity. Nor does he mention the threatening behavior of Palestinian Muslims that has driven out most of the town’s frightened and persecuted Christians.

Today, Christmas 2019, Bethlehem is a once-Christian town, with important churches, holy relics and sanctuaries, but only a few Christians who live in fear not of Israel, but of Muslim Arabs.

The Christians I once knew had businesses such as tourist shops selling olive wood carvings and religious symbols to tourists. They are gone. Their homes and their shops are now occupied by their Muslim former neighbors.

The Palestinians will tell you it’s all Israel’s fault. They are, after all, the perennial victim. It’s become an industry for them. This image sells as well as Banksy’s souvenirs in Bethlehem.

But is this the truth? Not at all.

The Palestinians wanted separation from Israel and when Israel gave it to them, they used the vacated territories to relaunch their terror campaign against Israeli civilians, killing thousands.

In the name of peace, Bethlehem was the sixth town that Israel vacated and left under Palestinian rule following its withdrawal from Jericho, Jenin, Tulkarm, Nablus and Kalkilya.

Initially, there was a free flow of people. Palestinian Arabs worked in Israel. Israelis visited the Arab towns to buy and enjoy the services of the local Arabs. Everything was cheaper than in Israel while wages for Arab workers were higher in Israel and the interchange was buoyant and good for everyone.

Christians know this will happen…and it is.
Christians are the most persecuted people in the world.

Matt.10:22
[22] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

Matt.24:9
[9] Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

Mark.13:13
[13] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Thank you felix for bringing these scriptures for all to see. These are powerful words with great meaning for these times and I pray always that those persecuted, fellow believers in these nations, would, by the infilling of the Holy Spirit, bear them in their hearts. The enemy comes to instill terror and fear, even hatred; may God keep them from that and fill them with His calm, His peace, and let not despair come upon them. May they remember those scriptures, and let themselves know that they are counted with Him and others who suffered likewise.

In John 16:2-3, Jesus is speaking specifically to His followers about what the other, disbelieving Jews will do to them, but it could just as much apply to Islam, “… because they have not known the Father nor Me … that whoever kills you will think he offers service to God”. Islams’ violence and hatred is inextricably linked to the ignorance portrayed in its scriptures and founder – they have never known God nor the Son. We cannot ignore the threat and danger they represent, but we also cannot fail to pray for their salvation.

You once pondered if the “beast of the land” from Rev.13:11, could be the Islamic nation. Certainly the spirit behind every serpent’s head depicted in these ‘beasts’ is that of Satan, and although there is a clear reference to the once hideous monster that the RCC represented in days of old and now alive again as the “deadly wound now healed”, the efforts from the Vatican to amalgamate with Islam that would form the core of a one world religion, could qualify such a ‘bastardized religion’ as such a beast.

That so much and so many varied things are happening all around us, even the atheist must wonder if someone, somewhere must have decided that society needed to be dismantled. The evidence that it is cannot be denied even by those who embrace it, but those who know Him know the ‘why’ and where this is all going.
Maranatha brother, may we both live long enough to see His return, it will be soon.

Correct! The original 13 Crusades were a necessary response to 600 years of Muslim rape, robbery, pillage, & violent needless killing. Yet in todays uninformed world, all too many such blame the Crusades on the Christians, as if they were unprovoked. I oft say in my conversations that another Crusade is long past due-!!

Assuming there is truth outlined in this article, one should conclude what we already know: The Islamic Arabs simply cannot live harmoniously with others not Muslim, and Israel has not only the right, but also the need to remove from the nation, that is was promised by the U.N., Palestinians, and safely place them into other Arab countries, whether or not they will graciously take them. These people are simply and purposely intolerant of us others, and that should be the consequences of that Arab mentality.

it is peculiar that people refer to Christian Arabs and Arab countries, but never refer to Jewish Arabs and insist somehow that they are somehow much different ethnically from muslim Arabs. I know about the tribes but that is not a real ethnic difference, merely a religious difference. Why do so many dance around the truth????? Tribal distinctions are just about a lot of inbreeding

That’s what annoys me about calling the Muslims in West Bank and Gaza as Palestinians when the people of the region, particularly the Jews, were called Palestinians by their Roman rulers and by the time Mohammad came around there were also many Christians (relative to population) in the area. Because Islam invaded those lands, the Muslims assume they have exclusive rights when they don’t… they certainly don’t speak for the “Palestinians” who are Jewish nor Christian.

Your analysis is 90% accurate. It is not an “Arab mentality” but the mentality of all who profess Islam regardless of race or ethnicity. I know of no exceptions.

A great war is in the making. There is no redemption, no salvation, just pain and suffering. Many years will pass until the final stroke of midnight happens. Many, many people will disappear from the face of this planet. The Middle East will become desolate and a new Jerusalem will be built in a new country. Islam will become a hated cult, sought out and destroyed by those who where held slaves by it. So much pain, so much suffering but the cycle will happen. May the almighty have mercy on us.

Caring about Christians and the Christian faith isn’t part of the PC culture because, as the narrative goes, it is the Christians who are doing the oppression. So a propaganda book probably won’t get noticed.

The issue is people need to actually care about things beyond themselves. But we’ve been so indoctrinated into consumerism, it has fully engulfed “Christians” such that there are more “consumer Christians*” than actual Christians.

A consumer Christian is a Christian that goes to church to consume. They expect a good motivational speaker, good music and the “best” programs for their kids. They generally have no hunger to read the Bible. If they attend a Bible study it is to gain head knowledge with no impact on the soul. It is a faith that isn’t inconvenienced by concern for others.

Funny, when the arab countries expelled and robbed all of their fleeing Jews after the legal founding of the State of Israel in 1948, don’t recall any outcry from the civilized Christian world, and this happened just three years after the end of WWII and the Holocaust.

Now that Christians are being persecuted and forced to flee the same arab countries, the western Christian world is outraged.

Smells like a double standard to me.

created4el
created4el

Not familiar with that detail around 1948. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was minimal Christian response to it.

But you are wrong to say there is a double standard today. Sadly the Christian response at the atrocities of how Christians are treated in the region is nil for the vast majority of people who call themselves Christian.

You are also wrong because Israel is still persecuted today and Christians today, albeit not as many as should, are also concerned for the wellbeing of Israel. The fact that there was minimal if any response supporting the Jews of then is not relevant to the Christian support of Jews and Israel today.

I am curious… what is your point in bringing up such an objection? Is it wrong for someone to have concern for persecution of Christians and Jews today even if such sentiment wasn’t widely seen 70 years ago?

The point I was trying to make, apparently not very well, is that after 1948, Sephardic Jews who lived in the surrounding Arabic Muslim countries were terrorized, persecuted, expelled & robbed. The only thing that curtailed this behavior was the arab countries ran out of Jews to abuse, and b) Israel learned to defend itself and instilled a fear of reprisal into the arabs.

While the persecution of Christians in these same arab countries is equally reprehensible, today the Western world views Israel and its Jews as the aggressor, not the victim, while Christians now facing the same threats are viewed more sympathetically.

The common factor here is Arab/Islamic intolerance and terror inflicted upon two religious minorities. The difference in the response to it is anti-semitism.

created4el
created4el

I think your perception is wrong. Christian persecution isn’t viewed any more sympathetically than Israel’s persecution.

We are clearly seeing an uptick in anti-Jew behavior largely as the Islamic population is being “embraced” by so many countries in Europe. But also with the growth in popularity of the communists/socialists in the US and the growth in influence of Muslims. And none of these groups are supportive of Christians either.

In our news in the US we see Israel’s response against attacks which appears to be Israel being the aggressor. The fact that Hamas’ rockets don’t kill many Jews is presented as a crime when Israel retaliates and a crater exists where there was a rocket launcher. Meanwhile when Christians defend themselves against Muslim attack it is sectarian violence or land disputes. And if a whole village is massacred we’re lucky if we hear mention of it at all. Meanwhile no one in the MSM ever discusses the doctrine underlying the ideology of the attackers and the common thread in each of these attackers have, which is Islam.

Something that should tell us that what we are experiencing is of a spiritual nature is how the Left, who is against Israel (real Jews) and Christians, side with Islam that is also against Jews and Christians. The sad Jews are the ones who are against other Jews and especially against Israel as if siding with those who hate Jews will protect them… people like Bernie Sanders the anti-Jew Jew. I point out the spiritual nature because both Christians and Jews (who practice Judaism) worship the same God whereas the Allah of Islam is not the same God though they claim Allah is the God of Abraham… Allah is a counterfeit. And the Left hate God so the God haters team up and hate those who love God.

Christian kings did not respond until they were directly threatened. IOne country went down after another because the kings were extremely stupid and short sighted. they claimed to rule by “divine right” but the muslims did not recognize the false claim and proved the sword backing the koran was real power. The stupid europeans still have not figured that out after 1000 years.

Can anyone name a single Muslim-controlled country over the past 75 years that has not exhibited gross intolerance, persecuted and/or banished Christians & Jews from its borders?

Muslims are hands down the most barbaric, mysogynistic, homophobic, intolerant religious movement on earth. They make the North Koreans look rational.

If you’re looking for proof of this, don’t look it up in Wikipedia. It’s been hijacked by Islamists, BDS-supporters and the Radical Left. Any evidence of Muslim persecution of Christians & Jews has been or is being scrubbed from its page. If you care about the truth, do not give money to Wikipedia. You are funding your own demise.

North Korea forces obedience to Kim Jung Un. Other than people knowing they’ll get death if the go against the leader they do not have any scripture or any doctrine that says they must subjugate non North Koreans.

Islam forces obedience to Mohammad. Peoples know if they apostatize, there is to be consequences. If you strictly follow the Quran then the consequence is death. And depending on denomination there are fatwa on how many chance someone is given to return to Islam. But things like “striking fear” and “winning through terror” are core elements of Islam for those who follow the Islamic scriptures. Kim Jong Un treats his people poorly whereas Islam prescribes the mistreatments to non-Muslims.

There is a book published in 2014 called “The Days Trilogy – Expanded Edition”
consisting of the memoir of travels of H.L. Mencken, American satirist and scholar.
In it, Mencken objectively records what he found in the land called Palestine,
which was then under control of the British Mandate, in 1934.

The contrast between the lands occupied by Arabs (Muslims) versus Jews
was profound. The Arabs used a stick plow – an instrument unchanged and
unevolved since the days of Abraham – to cultivate their fields which yielded
very little. Their houses were dreary and impoverished; their animals and
chickens underweight and often diseased. Mencken describes their
dispositions as lazy, unproductive and ornery. The Jews, in contrast,
worked hard from morning to night – resulting in fields yielding produce
and orchards of fruit. Every so many miles, they had a hardware store,
general store and a gas station. Their homes were clean and cared for,
their animals sleek and fat. Mencken was amazed at the differences.

The Arabs could not implement their Sharia Law – even as a way to
rouse themselves – because both they and the Jews were under the strict
civil authority of the British. Unlike their takeover of Bethlehem many years
later when their freedom to act upon their Koranic instructions resulted in
the current decimation of the Christian population.

BTW when America invaded Afghanistan after 911, the U.S. Army sent in
agriculture specialists to assist Afghan Muslim farmers who were still
cultivating their lands in these modern times with a manual plow. We can
surmise that they are those ‘moderate, peaceful’ Muslims we hear about
as opposed to their more violent countrymen – the subjugating, Sharia-
enforcing Taliban.

What percent of the “Palestinian problem” in Israel, is foreign funded mercenary jihad, which has little to nothing to do with land? Any works for salvation or good works to get to heaven ideology or religion creates a great deal of insecurity in believers. But one can guarantee not only heaven, but 72 virgins, if you do violent jihad. If you don’t have the nerve for that you can be discriminatory, persecute or be mean in the name of Islam. If that doesn’t make a Muslim feel secure enough and they don’t want to ruin their nice situation in America or the west or somewhere, they can fund someone else’s jihad somewhere else and get their guarantee, wipe out most if not all of their insecurity. What better jihad to fund than against Jews or Christians which the anti-Semitic/anti judeo Christian Quran targets institutionally?

One other question: to what extent have the “Palestinian’s” been used by Muslims in neighboring countries to Israel and other peaceful democratic parts of the world since 1948 as surrogates for their “religious” insecurities, artificially stoking a problem wars usually solve? Israel is merely a proxy location, just as parts of remote Africa and their vulnerable Christians. But Muslims also can fund surrogate mercenary jihad against other Muslim sects. I think a case could be made, the ICC international criminal court and liberals in the west are being used as pons by insecure blame shifting Muslims who hide their expressions of religious ideological insecurity in mercenary jihad, with the false flag narrative, Israel is the oppressor, Pax Americana bases offend us…when in fact, the opposite is true, Israel & the West are inclusive with Muslims who are genuinely peaceful, allowing them to work, live in peace, vote and participate in their democratic success story’s…
