It’s more that the Democrats are antisemitic and they have made it the centerpiece of the party platform. Obama was a vicious antisemite and Trump wasn’t even in the picture.
Lieberman: Dems Oppose Pro-Israel Policy ‘Because President Trump Seems so Strongly in Favor of Israel’
Sunday on New York AM 970 radio’s “The Cats Roundtable,” former Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) shared his opinion on why Democrats are now seemingly less pro-Israel than in the past.
According to the former Democratic vice presidential nominee, Democrats are raising questions about Israeli policy because President Donald Trump is “so strongly in favor of Israel.”
“President Donald Trump, maybe not surprisingly, is very popular in Israel because he’s been very pro-Israel,” Lieberman told host John Catsimatidis. “Incidentally, this is the problem of partisanship in America. Sometimes I think that part of the reason the Democratic Party – which is still pro-Israel, but not as fully, totally as it used to be – part of the reason some Democrats are raising questions about Israeli policy more is because President Trump seems so strongly in favor of Israel. And it happens on the Republican side with the position of the Democrats. If one party takes position A, the other party is going to take position Z. And that’s not sensible by any means.”

What an intellegent argument. I suppose if Trump cured cancer the Democrats would oppose the cure. Extraordinary.

I don’t recall the dems being pro-Israel. They might have wavered in that direction for a short time, but were never really committed.
rambler, back in the day of Scoop Jackson, HHH, Ted Kennedy, Jacob Javitz- before widespread Moslem immigration into the USA- the Democrat Party was solidly pro-Israel. I think it fair to say Republicans generally were less supportive, and included some who were positively hostile to the Jewish state, although there certainly was bi-partisan support.
Just as one example, when Soviet Premier Alexi Kosygin met with LBJ, the premier challenged the Texan along the lines of, “there are 3 million Israelis, there are 80 million Arabs. It makes no sense to support Israel”. The usually slippery wheeler-dealer POTUS replied, “Because it’s the right thing to do”.
Those were days when American politicanss, despite their internal differences, tried to present a unified posture toward the outside world. Times certainly have changed.

Completely agree. Obama was a vicious anti-Semite AND the stealth Jewish Left gave him a complete pass. What is the stealth Jewish Left? Jewish Federation, ADL, AJC, Hillel, World Jewish Congress, Simon Wiesenthal Center and the Reform and Conservative movements.
WRONG !! The Democrats are not wavering on backing Israel because of Trump,…. they’ve NEVER shown Benjamin Netanyahu any respect. Handsy Beto O’Rourke and Deli store owner Bernie Sanders, called him RACIST !!
Leftist hate Israel, right alongside Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).
they’ve NEVER shown Benjamin Netanyahu any respect.
For most Democtrat politicians (ok, not the ones you cited), I don’t think it’s so much a matter of respect as it is opposition to Netanyahu’s policies- viz his strong Zionism. The same Democrats who are supportive of Israel’s right to exist and its security needs have long opposed Israelis returning to Judea and Samaria. Why, just imagine the injustice of Jews living in Judea- rather it should be populated by people assuming a fake nationality known as “Palestinian”, that never existed in recorded history.
It is long past time to stop referring to Judea and Samaria as “occupied territories”, unless you mean occupied by the descendants of Arab invaders from over 1300 years ago (a meaning that has never generated any currency). Judea and Samaria are more properly referred to as “disputed territories”.
I view Judea and Samaria as names of part of modern day Israel. Besides, that’s how one of my heroes, Menachem Begin, referred to them.
Whatever …. just don’t fall for that Roman colonialist imperial scam of calling them “Palestine”!

“Democrats Oppose Pro-Israel Policy ‘Because President Trump Seems so Strongly in Favor of Israel’”
He’s only half-right. It’s also because his party is “so strongly in favor” of Muslim Nationalism. Jimmy Carter wants Hamas recognized, the black wing of his party still reveres Farrakhan; and their open borders policy let’s in new anti-semities.
Presidential oath: “…to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States”. Which includes preserving the vote of 2016 from COUP attempts.
Yes. The Democrats could do a lot for democracy by examining their logic and reasons for therir own motives an behaviors. If the logic and reasoning work for Democrats, then the same logic and reasoning should also work for Republicans. If it doesn’t work both ways, then it is just partisan hate.
For example, if the next President is a Democrat, and a House majority of Republicans impeach him without evidence, are the Democrats OK with that? I don’t think so.
And yet, if reversing the logic fails, then the logical reasoning is invalid. If it is not OK to impeach a President with no evidence, then the Democrats must stop now. Otherwise, every future President will be impeached, even if they are innocent.
