Orthodox Jews opening up their wallets for Trump in 2020

Story continues below advertisementThough he polls as generally unpopular with Jews and has even been accused of making anti-Semitic remarks in office, New York’s Orthodox enclaves are kvelling over the president — and even raised $4 million for him at a Midtown banquet last week.
“[He’s] the first Hasidic president,” gushed Yossi Garelik, an Orthodox rabbi in Crown Heights who voted against Trump in 2016.
“Literally right before he went into office when Obama abstained at the U.N. in December 2016 [jeopardizing Israeli settlements in the West Bank], Trump said, ‘January 20th everything will change.’ I said,’ This guy means business.’ I completely converted.”
He is not alone. In 2018, 91% of Orthodox Jews rated President Trump’s job performance as “satisfactory” or “very satisfactory” — with 82% saying they would support him again in 2020, Ami Magazine, a Jewish weekly, reported.
This is in opposition to less-religious Jews, 71% of whom voted for Hillary Clinton, according to the Pew Research Center.
And the Orthodox are not just opening their hearts to the Republican president, they’re opening their wallets.
Trump attended a $25,000-per-couple luncheon last week at a Midtown hotel, where 400 moneyed Orthodox machers raised at least $4 million for the America First SuperPAC.
One guest, Brooklyn real estate mogul Rubin Schron, is a longtime Dem donor — and benefactor to Joe Biden’s failed presidential campaign in 1987.
“Many of the people who attended were Chuck Schumer donors,” Kelly Sadler, an America First spokeswoman told The Post, noting the political converts at the event. “We screened all of the people in attendance, and we were surprised to see how many have given before to Democrats, but never a Republican.
“People were standing up on their chairs chanting … eight more years,” she added.
“Over the years I haven’t seen any galvanized, concentrated effort for a political candidate like this,” Rabbi YY Jacobson, who introduced the president at the lunch told The Post. “They are very moved by the leadership he’s shown in security and defense against terror and the support of Israel.”
Orthodox leaders say they’ve embraced Trump because of his pro-Israel policies, including voiding the Iran nuclear deal. Some pointed to Trump’s commuting of Hasidic meatpacking boss Sholom Rubashkin‘s 27-year-sentence for bank fraud and money laundering in 2017.

“Everyone has been talking about moving the embassy to Jerusalem. He didn’t talk, he just did it and you know what — the world didn’t implode,” said Yossi Gestetner, a marketing executive and co-founder of the Orthodox Jewish Public Affairs Council. “Every other administration likes to squeeze and press Israel right, left and center and he doesn’t do it.”
The Trump lunch was the first event of its kind, according to Sheya Landa. “You never had an event like this. The closest thing was a lunch for George W. Bush with maybe 30 people.”
Trump eagerly returned the love.
“I worked with my father in Brooklyn, on Ocean Parkway, and 97% of the people I knew growing up were Jewish,” he told the crowd.
To laughter, he claimed to have a “98% approval rating” in Israel (69% Israelis expressed confidence in Trump, a Pew poll found). He continued: “If anything happens here, I’ll take a trip over to Israel and be prime minister there.”

I used to be Shumer fan. I really was.
But what a disappointment in the War on Terror, on the Iran Deal; and endorsing that death-eater Keith Ellison. Instead he gave mono-tone speeches that lacked true passion when disagreeing with Obama’s backstabbing of our allies like Israel.

President Trump Second Term!
As a Christian, I would much more prefer to live next to orthodox Jews rather than orthodox Muslims any day of the week and twice on Sabbath. I haven’t seen any groupings of Orthodox Jews in any country blocking public streets with their supremacist displays of praying with their butts sticking up in the air or have loud, blaring, obnoxious singing calls to prayer, multiple times a day from their Temples. I also haven’t seen Orthodox Jewish women treated as slaves by Jewish husbands.

American-Jews are splitting into two camps. Reform/Conservative at about 80% of the Tribe supporting the Left who despise Trump and Bibi and 20% Orthodox who have similar mores to devout Christians/Evangelicals. But are rather politically Conservative.
We also have very politically, staunch, Conservatives in the Reform movement’s “Underground Railroad” It’s like the French Resistance!

Other than someone like Marx or Soros who obviously hate their Jewish heritage, why would any ethnic Jew prefer the Islamopandering of the Leftist Marxist Democrats to bring about the destruction of Israel and all of Judeo-Christian Western Civilization orchestrated by the Leftist-Islamic axis of evil? Any support for Leftist Democrats is the same as supporting BDS and being anti-Israel and anti-Semitic. The Democrats are the ones promoting Islam, Palestine and BDS. It’s sad that a group that considers itself reformed would actually be less faithful to the Scriptures than the orthodox… seems like instead of reformed they should be the corrupted… or heretical. In the Christian reformation, contrary to what many people think, led to a rejection of manmade traditions and closer adherence to scripture. The context for the reformation was the corruption in the (Catholic) Church leadership and their practices, things such as indolences which were essentially bribes to the church for some supposed anti-Scriptural “salvation”. Today, the Catholic Church still practices things that are not Biblical but were put in place by the “infallible” Popes… they still haven’t repented for their idol worship of the saints and their pope. Note: Mary must be omnipresent or omniscient to hear the prayers of so many people all at the same time… that means Mary must be God or a god… but Mary is not God or a god of any sort so to pray to her as if she is God is idol worship.

As an inter-denominational evangelical Protestant who was originally raised in the RC worship tradition, I understand and respect your position on this. However, please remember two things:
1) The only examples in the Bible of idol worship, are treating inanimate objects [such as golden calves], as deities. I know of no claimed idol worship that involves “worshipping” people [and praying to the Virgin Mary is not necessarily worshipping her].
2) HE knows our hearts and those of our Catholic brethren as well. At the risk of being crude, I believe HE hears any sincere supplications to the Blessed Mother, with the same sense of kindness and grace, as that of a father reading his child’s letter to Santa Claus.
Just my opinion based on what the Bible teaches me about HIS abounding mercy AND Grace.

As a gentile who has always greatly admired the Jewish people it has forever amazed me how one of the most intelligent and accomplished ethnicities on the planet can be so slow to realize what is in their best interest and so quick to adopt ideologies that are the exact opposite. Of course the same holds true for many otherwise intelligent people who are not of the Jewish faith. And I think that is the crux of the matter, that is, faith. Glad to see more are coming around to supporting someone who is bringing about righteous results in spite of his flaws.

That is not widely publicized. I really thought it was some self-censorship to accommodate the Leftist atheistic controllers of speech who want to remove all references to GOD. Thank you for educating me about it. Also, the only time I have seen the disparaging label of “Goyim” used are by the neo-Nazis on GAB who want to emphasize the Jewish hatred of Christians by referring to them as “Goyim.” I’ve never been called Goyim by my Jewish friends. I would be happy to give an explanation.
“Goyim” is Hebrew (plural for Nations. It is a way of saying people of an alternative to the Jewish Nation/. I’m afraid it has been a little bastardized over the years. This term is used outside of Israel, in the diaspora.
In Israel, Christians are know in Hebrew as Notzrim which is very interesting because it means the “Watchers.” Notzrim, in Hebrew has the same 3-root letters as Natzereth (Hebrew for Nazareth, main hometown of younger Jesus.
The Jehovah Witnesses have a magazine, called the “Watchtower” which also refers to being awake (alert).
Hebrew as a language is fascinating because of the connection with these 3-letter, roots that make it possible to give definitions, in other languages, e.g. “Volvo” is Latin and means “I Roll.” then look at all the other nouns that roll (turn) over: Revolver; revolution, revolt, etc.

My only familiarity with “Goyim” is from anti-Semitic neo-Nazis on GAB who, like I said earlier, always use that term to show their contempt for Jews. I routinely block them after explaining to them that they are on the same side as Muslims and Marxist Globalists with their anti-Semitism.
So what about “G-d” being the preferred reverential written spelling for “God?” Is that universal among Jewish writers or, just when “God” is written in Hebrew?

I did quite a study of Cruz….from childhood to present…..there is so much people didn’t know about him….primary was/is his involvement with the Bush Cabal since college. The last thing I logged was how when Jebito crashed, his campaign finance manager was his crooked brother (Keating Five Savings and Loan crash) Neil Bush. Within 24 hours of Jebito calling ti quits, Neil moved into the Cruz camp as his finance manager.
But now that Papa Bush is gone and GW is sounding like a doddering old fool (trashing Trump when he didn’t open his pie-hole about Obama) Cruz is keeping a low profile.
I think he’s hoping that President Trump will back him after his second term. I hope not. I’m hoping for either Jim Jordan or Devin Nunes.
Never ever trust Cruz farther than you can see him….and even then…it’s not enough.
