CNN: Mexico Has Essentially Built Trump’s Wall and Is Paying for It

You may have noticed in reports about illegal immigration that there’s been a precipitous drop in apprehensions at the border. That’s not because there are fewer being caught, that’s because there are fewer coming across.

Story continues below advertisement

That’s in large measure due to the cooperation deal that President Donald Trump struck with Mexico.

In fact, even CNN has had to admit Trump’s success, as Newsbusters observed.
In an astonishing case of pigs flying, CNN actually ran article on Sunday by Catherine Shoichet and Natalie Gallón, “Why some say Mexico already built Trump’s wall — and paid for it.”

In it they note that Mexico has effectively built the wall, that Mexico by marshaling thousands of their troops to prevent people from coming in and not going north to the U.S. is acting as the wall itself.

Among the things they have done:

Nearly 15,000 troops are deployed to Mexico’s northern border, where they’ve set up 20 checkpoints, Mexican Defense Minister Luis Cresencio Sandoval said last week at a press briefing on the country’s security strategy. At the southern border, 12,000 troops are deployed and have set up 21 checkpoints.

And it’s worked.

Asked to respond to claims that Mexico is effectively paying for the wall Trump wanted, foreign ministry spokesman Roberto Velasco told CNN that migration flows have notably decreased in recent months, and that efforts continue for a regional development plan to address the root causes of migration in Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.

“The number of migrants presented before Mexican authorities has decreased by 70% from June to September,” he said.

This all came after the threat of tariffs from Trump earlier in the year.

CNN doesn’t seem completely pleased while noting this success, quoting Univision’s Jorge Ramos, “It’s true: President Trump is using Mexico. And, against all logic, Mexico is letting him get away with it,” he wrote. “This has to change.”

Why would you want to stop success? Because it doesn’t align with the Democratic effort to open the borders?

But in this case, it’s also to Mexico’s benefit because they’re protecting their own sovereignty as well as preventing folks from getting north to get to the United States.

So will other media pick up on this and give credit where credit is due?

In this Trump has done what he is accused of doing illegally in Ukraine. The Wall was a quid pro quo (Latin: something for something) deal — Mexico stops the irregular migration or the US will impose tariffs on Mexican goods and services.

Any sanction, economic or other wise, that is either placed against, or threatened against, another nation is a quid pro quo.

Yes, it is. Today, before PG&E shuts off electric power, I will go to various vendors from whom various products will be traded for different, but agreed upon, amounts of currency. I get something (product) and they get something (money.) Quid pro quo. Omnes vincit.

We have agreements with other countries to work together in criminal investigations. The President of Ukraine was specifically voted in to clean out the corruption. Ukraine was being investigated long before Trump referenced it in that phone call. I would also hope that rational people would not want a possibly corrupt candidate like Biden as our President. Biden is on tape bragging about how he stopped the Ukraine prosecutor from investigating his son and denying them money in exchange for this. It’s outrageous. Trump offered no money and did not deny them money for following through on this common foreign agreement. The delay was why isn’t the EU kicking into the Ukraine? Why is the U.S. the ATM? We don’t benefit from it. It was she same complaint he had with NATO. They need to pay up. Why should the U.S. subsidize Europe?

Mexico agreed to be more helpful to us at the border or get slapped with tariffs. That is built into the USMCA agreement. Also Trump borrowed from internal law where the first safe country a person flees from seeking asylum is where they first have to apply, It becomes an automatic turn down at out border as they travel through Mexico and other countries not at war. It’s been effective too. So no favor for favor or quid pro quo in either situation.

This is another reason why it is imperative to Pelosi to NOT pass USMCA. This agreement with Mexico has immigration hooks in it. If they screw up, Mexico gets tariffed. Trump also has agreements with Hondura, Guaemala and El Salvador. This is how Trump got around from the INACTION by the swamp on immigration.

Trump’s agreements in Central America could dismantle the asylum system as we know it
They would send migrants back to Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras.

The Trump administration has reached agreements with Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala that would require migrants on their way to the US to seek protections in those countries first, effectively cutting off their access to the American asylum system before they even reach the southern border.
..
A separate Trump administration rule would also prevent migrants from being granted asylum if they passed through any country other than their own before arriving in the US, effectively meaning asylum seekers from any country but Mexico will now be ineligible for asylum.

Great commentary Felix. The reality that you expound on makes perfect sense, especially why the democrats do not want the passage of the USMCA. The evidence is becoming overwhelming that the swamp cares more about getting elected and retain their power, and they need illegals to do that, as they do not care about those citizens that were born here or are legal. This end run by Trump ought to be broadcast by all us right thinking people, as it goes to prove that he cares about us citizens while all the Democrats want is to see him “lynched” thru the false and fraudulent use of the impeachment process.

Trump is truly trying his best to fight back the globalists and their agenda. He truly loves our
country. It’s tough when you don’t have your own party backing and defending you because most of them want the establishment globalist agenda too. He does what he can….

He genuinely means it – comment image

This method is good, and it’s working, but only so long as we have a president that cares about American’s jobs. Once the D’s and RINOs are in power, we still need that wall. And it’ll happen, too. Because the D’s will cheat if they cannot win legally. We can’t forget that. They have no morals or ethics.

Quid pro quos have been used since time immemorial in international relations. It is a waste of taxpayers money if there is no quid pro quo. More here: http://muccings.blogspot.com/2019/10/the-alleged-crime-of-quid-pro-quo.html

Wow! CNN finally acknowledged the truth! I’ve pointed out to some who complain that Trump hasn’t made Mexico pay for the wall that Mexico is paying, in more ways than one, for the wall. As this article pointed out, the wall isn’t physically built yet but Mexico has cut off the flow of illegal immigrants. That is done on their dime because it’s their military.

On another note, tariffs for the simple act of starting a trade war isn’t smart. But if you have the winning hand and you use the threat of a tariff or even a short term tariff to get something you want, then that is a good thing. So many people are against tariffs and generally, I don’t like them but Trump’s use of them has been quite successful though there have been some short term pain in certain sectors affected by the tariffs. But this is clearly one of the MAGA outcomes! And I think China will be another once China realizes that the tariffs hurt them more than us.

I don’t believe Jorge Ramos has the interests of the U.S. in mind. He just wants to have our southern states near the Mexican border reabsorbed by mexico.

That is an actual thing and is called “La Requonquista” which translates as “The Reconquest”.
The entire thought process behind it is very much indicative of the culture and thought processes of the Mexican Elites.
It’s entire basis is THEFT through the deliberate shipping of the dregs of Mexico and Central America into the Southwestern USA until the legitimate government is overwhelmed and collapses, in which case Mexico then attempts to step in and claim the territory, despite the treaties in place ceding these areas, for [substantial] consideration. The Reconquista has no plan for the relocation of American Citizens or for compensation for the massive amounts of infrastructure investment made by American Citizens, it is THEFT pure and simple.
