Bologna archbishop Matteo Maria Zuppi changed a famous, age-old recipe for the feast of the city’s patron, San Petronio — a pork-free version of Bologna’s iconic tortellini pasta in submission to Islamic law.
The curia said “fake news” had been generated on this story and that it’s “a normal rule of welcome and respect towards guests has been interpreted as an offence against tradition.” But they make no such concessions to Jews, Hindus, Bahais, Buddhists etc. But I would hardly expect the conquered and the vanquished to actually own up to their own cowardice, would you?

(ANSA) – Bologna, October 1 – The diocese of Bologna, which has ordered Muslim-friendly pork-free tortellini for Friday’s feast of patron saint Petronius, on Tuesday said the row over the case was “unacceptable”.
The diocese has replaced pork, which Muslims do not eat for religious reasons, with chicken in the famed Bolognese speciality.
The curia said “fake news” had been generated on the case and “a normal rule of welcome and respect towards guests has been interpreted as an offence against tradition”.
Nationalist leaders including League chief Matteo Salvini have slammed the move saying Italy is forgetting its history and identity.
Some Catholic church officials said the case was a gift to Salvini and his anti-migrant rhetoric.
Salvini on Tuesday slammed moves to produce the pork-free tortellini, linking it to Education Minister Lorenzo Fioramonti’s suggestion that crucifixes be removed from classrooms.
“I’m reading that there are those who are asking for tortellini without meat. It’s like proposing wine without grapes,” he said.
“Oriana Fallaci was right. The problem is some Italians forgetting their roots, denying our history, from tortellini to the crucifix.” “Should I be the one defending faith and values? I’m a sinner…”, Salvini said on Facebook.

Bologna (the lunch meat) is named after the city. And they acquiesce to these Muslims? What’s next? Change the name of the city? No, ban the Muslims. They should be abiding by the host nation’s culture and laws. It’s that simple.

This is why so many have abandoned the church, not Christianity, but the church; it keeps selling out it’s Christian principles to appease those who hated it from the start!! Liberals hate the church, islam hates the church, so stop bowing down to them! This, actually, is the very reason islam is the fastest growing cult, they NEVER capitulate to anything or anybody and people looking for a stable foundation to build on, the church that sacrifices it’s beliefs and principles repels not attracts.

The underlying article does not say WHY the diocese decided on a “Muslim-friendly” recipe. Did some Muslim community representatives ask the diocese for this accommodation, indictating they really, really wanted to attend the San Petronius Festival but were deterred by the porkish tortellini? I highly doubt it. Why would public-figure Muslim leaders, who do tend toward the radical, want to suck up to an archtypically Christian festival — unless they really, really loved chicken tortellini and didn’t know how to make it themselves? Unlikely IMO.
Were there vociferous Muslim protests in the streets of Bologna claiming that porky tortellini served at a clearly Christian festival in a traditionally Christian city was an affront to Muslims? If they had, we surely would havae read about them, a few days or weeks ago, here on Ms. Geller’s blog, since that, alone, would be anti-jihadist newsworthy. But I don’t recall any such news. So, that seems unlikely, also.
Did the diocese itself note that attendance at the festival had been falling in recent years and decided on their own to change to a Muslim-friendly recipe to try to attract more food-buying attendees, among ordinary, run-of-the-mill Muslims who wouldn’t make a big deal out of it but wouldn’t cvome to the festival, either, if all the food on offer had pork in it? Whether or not any Muslim community leader asked the diocese to do so? Broadening their market share by inviting the new immigrants to share in their feast, whether they were Christian or not, in other words. Sort of the way the US introduced Christmas to Japan, where it became an instant big hit even among non-Christian Japanese, who love festivals and love giving presents. So do Muslims, the bishop perhaps figured. Isn’t this the most likely explanation?
