A prominent activist once nominated for a ‘British Muslim of the Year’ award is being investigated by police after she was filmed saying ‘jihad is the only solution’.
Sumaira Farrukh, 38, who has rubbed shoulders with Chancellor Sajid Javid and been pictured with Prince Charles, was filmed using the inflammatory word at a rally in Birmingham.
Mrs Farrukh, a businesswoman and journalist, spoke at a demonstration attended by hundreds demanding action over India’s plans to strip Kashmir of self-rule.

A host of Labour MPs including deputy leader Tom Watson, Jack Dromey and Liam Byrne had given speeches on the issue 24 hours earlier.
The businesswoman and journalist said the inflammatory word at a demonstration attended by hundreds demanding action over India’s plans to strip Kashmir of self-rule. Footage shows her on the steps of Birmingham’s Council House last month
Mrs Farrukh denied inciting violence by using the word jihad, saying it simply referred to a struggle, and she was being singled out because she was ‘an outspoken woman in a headscarf’.
In the video, she is seen on the steps of Birmingham’s Council House last month, telling supporters: ‘There is only one slogan for today. It is remove curfew from Kashmir.
‘Let them live their own lives – nothing more than that. And one thing to truth-tell to the Muslim community. There’s only one solution, which is jihad. No protest, nothing. Just jihad.’
Police have examined the footage and visited Mrs Farrukh at her home in Birmingham.
Tensions are running high in Kashmir and there have been a number of protests in the UK including one in London at which windows at the Indian High Commission were smashed.
Jihad in Islam can mean any type of struggle but the word has violent connotations after being hijacked by terrorist groups such as Islamic State.
Miss Farrukh, who is chief executive of Noor TV, a Muslim channel, was a losing finalist in the ‘businesswoman of the year’ category at the British Muslim of the Year awards in 2017.
She is a strong campaigner for Muslim rights and regularly posts on social media. In April last year she hailed Mr Javid, now Chancellor, on his appointment as the UK’s first Muslim home secretary, writing on Facebook: ‘May Allah bless you with more courage to work for the community.’

Yes. A devout, pious Muslim would do just that.
Asked if it was wise to use the word in the current climate, she said: ‘The people who are criticising me are the ones who don’t want a woman to speak out.
‘There are men saying we are going to get freedom with guns. People are chanting bad words, saying come out and fight, but they don’t get investigated. People always attack me because I’m an outspoken woman.’
She added: ‘Do you think I’m the kind of person who would use that word to encourage people to go and fight? I work with communities and the British military encouraging the Asian community to join the Army – how can I encourage violence?’She said she did not regret her choice of words, adding: ‘I’m very clear with my words. As a human, it is our responsibility to raise our voices for the people of Kashmir.
‘That is my meaning – stand up for the people who are suffering. Jihad is meaning struggle – the same meaning as if we are protesting outside 10 Downing Street.’
The footage of Mrs Farrukh at the rally on August 31 was passed to West Midlands Police at the force’s request.
A spokesman said: ‘We are assessing the content to see whether any criminal offences have been committed.’

I tried to hire a maid, too late; so rented a maid’s costume to help me through the numerous chores. Actually, the shack isn’t too bad; considering the kids were here for quite a while. I do remember that a march with TR was repeatedly bricked by muslims and assorted leftists through Waltham Forest I think it was and again plod did nothing to stop that either, in fact the peaceful march was kettled and then dispersed as a “provocation” .
Do you remember last winter when plod refused to stop muslims praying in Hyde Park at speakers corner on a Sunday, they even lied about their “powerlessness” when the Royal Parks have a ruling forbidding such activities. Do you also remember the lady who filmed it all was intimidated to unlock her own door by plod who then threw her to her floor before handcuffing her when she allowed them entry ?

Kashmir is done, there are less than 3000 Hindus left in Kashmir and that’s not by accident. In the 1990’s there were 300,000 to 600,000. There is no such thing as Islam
Islam is just another form of Tyrant Culture. Tyrants seek to grab all the power and money, and subjugate the citizenry. They MUST subjugate them, to prevent insurrection, when their lives get worse. Yes, good points. Both the Old Testament and New Testament strongly opposed tyrant culture. The key element of tyrant culture is selfishness: The tyrant grabs all the power and money for himself and his oligarch power circle, and makes the people’s live worse, which facilitates their subjugation.
In contrast, in the Old Testament, we are taught to help others, to love others, and forgive. David was a great king because he worked to make people’s lives better. When he acted selfishly, he suffered greatly, and he saw this as God’s punishment. Most of the prophets warned against selfishness and the victimization of others.
These themes also recur in the New Testament. Jesus used parables to show how selfishness causes suffering, and how tyrants are doomed before God.
Aristotle also vilified tyrants. Leaders who work for selfish ends cause more suffering. But leaders who work for ‘the general good’ advance their countries, and are well-regarded. He also warned that tyrants usually assume some false piety, or moral high ground, to justify their subjugation of the citizenry [Aristotle, 350 BC, ‘Politics’].

He defeated the Philistines and many others, expanded his kingdom, and brought peace to a unified Israel. The people prospered, and Jerusalem became a pious and well-run city. Brexit is turning out to be England’s Maginot Line. it’s the only viable strategy to slow down the Muslim population growth which stands today at just over 5% of the population but approaching 15% in London.
As the rest of Europe is painfully coming to realize, most Muslims, particularly from N Africa and Arab countries, have little interest in assimilation into Western culture. They grew up in totalitarian states or theocracies. Separation of Church & State, a pillar of modern western democracies, is a foreign concept to these people. For many Muslims, Islamic Law and practices trumps secular and local law.
If Boris fails to deliver true Brexit, England is done.
