Israel has launched a communications satellite into space that will give Africa digital service access.
According to CBN News, Israel’s Spacecom launched the satellite, dubbed “Amos-17,” into orbit from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Tuesday.
“AMOS-17 places us directly into the exciting growth of Africa’s Sub-Saharan vibrant markets,” Pollack said in a statement after the launch.
“As a leading multi-regional satellite operator, Spacecom is introducing the most technologically advanced satellite with HTS beams to service Africa where AMOS-17 will deliver a large selection of services to a variety of broadcast, broadband and telecom clients.”
Amos-17 is expected to stay over Africa and provide television, internet and phone services for 20 years.
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin called the satellite and launch “important work,” the Jerusalem Post reports.
“A proud morning, with the news of the successful launch of the Amos 17 satellite. Thank you and congratulations to our friends at @AMOSSpacecom and @SpaceX for their important work on behalf of the State of Israel,” he tweeted.
Africa has one of the fastest-growing populations in the world. The country is predicted to reach 2.5 billion in 2050, said Eran Shapiro, director of business and technology ventures at Spacecom, at a press conference last month. Half of its current population is under the age of 18.
The continent, however, has a major lack of internet access equipment and has many areas that are either underserved or not connected at all to any communication infrastructure….

Greece’s deputy foreign minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis told the local television network on Wednesday that his country would not assist the Iranian oil tanker Adrian Darya (former Grace 1) to dock at the port of Kalamata in Greece’s Peloponnese Peninsula, or “facilitate its passage to Syria.” The US State Department warned Athens on Tuesday that by assisting the tanker, Greece would be abetting the Revolutionary Guards Corps which is responsible for Iran’s oil exports and which Washington has designated a terrorist organization.

I could honestly care less about what happens to Africa. After all, all the millions of dollars in aid, good will, missionary work, etc, etc have all been so very appreciated and wisely used, for the good of the native peoples before this, eh? And they have all been so very grateful, eh?

First, I hope South Africa and its antisemitic government is blocked from this satellite.
Second, there is always the risk that this will give service to those who plot against Israel. The question is whether the good is greater than the risk?

Israel is an example to all countries with its great humanitarian work. That anyone, anywhere would criticize them is beyond me. A country under constant attack still manages to reach out a helping hand to other countries all the time having to defend it’s borders and citizens–So Amazing!

“Equality Court”: South Africa bans former national flag
PRETORIA. South Africa has punished the display of the former national flag as a hate speech. The flag, which represented the country from 1928 to 1994, is an “affront to the values of South Africa”, judge Phineas Mojapelo of the Equality Court justified his verdict.
The ban applies not only to public space, but also to private property. It may still only be shown for artistic as well as academic and journalistic presentations in the public interest. According to the court, everything else falls under the heading of “hate speech”.

Among others, the Nelson Mandela Foundation had sued after the flag had been carried at the so-called “Black Monday” rallies since 2017. With these Monday demonstrations the AfriForum, the white people’s lobby, wants to draw attention to the numerous murders of white farmers. Between 2016 and mid-2018, more than 2,000 white farmers fell victim to such murders.
The Nelson Mandela Foundation celebrated the verdict as a “victory for democracy and all South Africans”. The flag is a symbol of “white racism”, a statement continued. In fact, the flag replaced the British “Union Jack” in 1928. However, the apartheid system did not begin until 20 years later in 1948.
