As is well known, with its usual ruthlessness the Chinese government has been trying to put the practice of Islam by the Uighurs of Xinjiang in a straitjacket. It has, for example, made it harder, or in some cases impossible, for the devout to observe Ramadan. The Chinese government in 2017 passed laws requiring all restaurants to stay open during Ramadan. Further, it has forbidden teachers, civil servants, and all those working in the public sector from observing Ramadan, and if any are caught doing so, the government ominously warns, “they will be dealt with.”
Then there is the requirement that all “old’ Qur’ans, published before 2012, be handed in to the government’ only the “new Qur’ans” distributed by the Chinese government are permitted.The reason for this is that in 2012 the Chinese government published these “new” Qur’ans, heavily censored, with the “meaning’’ of the verses that remained annotated by government experts so as to lessen their anti-infidel message.
Muslims in Xinjiang must request government permission to go on the hajj. They are asked to register their age, job, health, and economic status. Strict guidelines are put in place for applicants, who must be aged between 50 and 70 and have lived in Urumqi, the region’s capital, for at least five years. They are thoroughly investigated by the government for their political views; anyone who has displayed the slightest hint of being politically unreliable is denied permission to go on the hajj.
All those who apply to go on the hajj must also pledge allegiance to the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and to national unity (and therefore against Uighur independence).
Indeed, Muslims who travel abroad for any reason, not just for the hajj, upon their return are subject to particular scrutiny, especially if they have spent any time in Muslim countries. More than one million have been placed in re-education centers.
As for other restrictions on Islam, in Xinjiang imams have been subject to public humiliation by being forced to dance en masse in public, and at the same time, have been forced to take an oath to keep children away from religion. As public servants, paid by the state, the imams were forced to brandish the slogan that “our income comes from the CKP not from Allah.” Many of the imams were forced to wave Chinese flags during their ordeal. Speeches are made — it’s unclear from the reports if these were by Chinese government officials or by government-approved imams — in which young people are told both to stay away from mosques and that prayer is harmful to one’s health. Teachers throughout Xinjiang have been instructed to teach children to shun religious study; retired teachers have been posted outside mosques during Ramadan to prevent students from entering.
Mosques have been required to push Communist propaganda, swapping inscriptions about Muhammad for red banners that declare, “Love the Party, Love the Country.”
Muslim men have been required to shave “abnormal” or “religious” beards; punishment is strict; one man was sentenced to six years in jail for refusing to do so. Names given to children must not be “religious.” Twenty-nine names have been banned so far, such as Islam, Saddam, Mecca, Quran, Jihad, Medina; all are now strictly forbidden. Women may not wear any veils that cover the face; even women wearing only the hijab have been prevented in some parts of Xinjiang from using busses. Muslims are required to listen to the official state television (i.e., that carry anti-Muslim, and pro-Communist propaganda), and cannot prevent their children from attending state schools.
And of course we all know that more than a million Uighurs are now interned in re-education camps where they are subject to endless lessons attacking religion in general, and Islam in particular.
Given this record, it is understandable that 22 countries — though not a single Muslim one (for the Muslim states are afraid of Chinese economic retribution)– denounced the Chinese mistreatment of the Uighurs. But should we completely reject everything the Chinese have claimed about the Uighurs? They claim that the Uighurs are not a Turkic people. That is both true and false, They are not solely a Turkic people, but they are partly a Turkic people. Genetically they are a mix of of the Han Chinese and the Turkic peoples of Central Asia who lived and intermarried in the far western marches of China.
A white paper released in late July by China’s State Council Information Office — the Government’s propaganda arm — presents the ruling Communist Party’s interpretation of history, claiming “Islam is neither an indigenous nor the sole belief system of the Uyghur people.” Is either of those claims false? Islam is indigenous only to the Middle East; Islam arrived in western China when a local ruler, Tughlugh Timur Khan, converted to this foreign faith in the mid-14th century. Many of his subjects then followed his example .Furthermore, Islam is “not the sole belief system of the Uighur people.” That too is true; the Uighurs had been Tengriists, Manichaeans, Buddhists, and Nestorian Christians long before they became Muslims.
The Chinese White Paper also claims that Islam spread into Xinjiang by “the Arab Empire.” How did Islam spread out of Arabia, if not by the Arabs warriors who subdued the rest of the Middle East, and all of North Africa, and then Spain, until they were finally defeated in central France by Charles Martel at Tours in 745? It was the warriors of an expanding “Arab Empire” who conquered Sassanian Persia. How did Islam arrive in Hindustan? Not through peaceful missionaries but through Muslim warriors, ghazis, who made many attempts at conquest before succeeding. It is understandable that the Chinese might identify this as the “Arab Empire” even if, by the time Muslim warriors reached from the western marches of China, very few were Arabs. To the Chinese the Muslims in Central Asia could be seen as ruling what could be regarded as an extension of the original “Arab Empire” in the Middle East. Islam was, as Anwar Sheikh has written, the “Arab national religion”; among Arabs it remains a vehicle for Arab supremacism; non-Arab Muslims, too, recognize the special status of Arabs within Islam.The Qur’an was given to a 7th century Arab, and in his language. The Qur’an ideally must be read in Arabic. Muslims turn five times a day, prostrate in prayer, toward Mecca, in Arabia. They are required, once in their lives, if financially able, to make the hajj to Mecca. Many non-Arab Muslims adopt Arab names and even false Arab lineages, as the many Pakistanis who affix a “Sayyid” to their names to indicate a factitious descent from the Quraysh, the tribe of the Prophet. That is why claiming that the Muslims in Central Asia formed part of an “Arab Empire,” while not ethnically accurate, makes a certain kind of religio-cultural sense. The Arabs were the first among equals; Islam was “the gift of the Arabs,” non-Arab Muslims assumed Arab names, and claimed Arab descent. Given the primacy among Muslims of the Arabs, an Islamic empire, even if ethnically diverse, could be described by the distant Chinese as an “Arab Empire.”

Odd, no, that the likes of Erdogan, who wrap themselves in the mantel of Islam, just don’t seem to be concerned about this in the slightest?
Here you have infidels interpreting the Koran for Moslems … but Erdogan is much more concerned about Jews who interfere with “Palestinians” desire to have access to the full array of tools they need to murder Jews. That’s a pretty good indication of what is “sacred” to the likes of Raycep Erdogan.

The Chinese idea of rewriting the Koran withal the ” violence against unbelievers ” taken out is excellent, the civilised world should insist that this becomes the norm throughout the Islamic world with threat of sanctions for non compliance, the Chinese are of course right the Koran was spread by the sword even in Mecca and Medina, it is a violent and evil religion, when Mohammed the slave trader concocted his lies none would have joined him but for the threat of violence, so indeed all were forced except those as evil and avaricious as he was, they joined to take part in rape and plunder of the innocents.

Rewriting the quranus is a fantasy. There’s no way an atheist state (or anyone kufar) is going to re-write the holey quranus for 1.5 billion muslums. It might work within the confines of the totalitarian PRC but nowhere outside of it.

The Chinese authorities don’t care about what happens elsewhere, their objective is changing the thinking of Muslims within China. No doubt they quickly executed every Muslim – and a few more for good measure – who murdered non-Muslims for the fun of it. As has been discussed many times, Islam causes mental illness.

LOL, Mark. Strictly speaking, China’s totalitarian actions against these Muslims should not have made me laugh, but in this case it did. Once I learned of Muslims in north-west China going onto railway stations, to bus stops and other places to stab non-Muslims to death, I knew that China would take action and it wouldn’t be the actions of the pansy West. So now more than a million Muslims are incarcerated in re-education centres and others outside are forced to dutifully obey the authorities – or suffer the consequences. In respect of these Chinese Muslims and Islam this is simply super, they’ve got what they deserved. The bullies are being bullied, so not a tear will I shed.

Just tonight we heard about a Muslim running down a city street in Australia, shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’, stabbing people – and, as in Canada – the moronic authorities have decided he has a “mental Illness”. A Muslim from Somalia went into a Canadian forces recruitment office and stabbed three soldiers because, he said, Allah told him to come to Canada and kill people. Standard Muslim stuff, but the wondrous (idiot) psychiatrist decided he has ‘mental issues’ and dopey Canadian authorities have accepted this nonsense. Another Muslim, Faisal Hussain, went on shooting spree in a popular restaurant area in Toronto, shooting 15 people and murdering two girls. The authorities have told us he has a history of ‘mental issues’, but immediately after the event his friends said he did not. He, too, was saying ‘Allahu Akbar’ while gunning down people, but no, the idiot authorities have decided that he had mental issue and that ‘we will never know why he did what he did’. Well, he did what he did because Islam and the Qur’an told him to kill infidels and our ‘authorities’ are too stupid to work out what it going on. In fact it is just willful ignorance because they are too gutless to blame Islam and Islamic teachings.

What? 3 million incarcerated Muslims in China? In that the case the Chinese authorities don’t mess around and good for them! Some contrast to the pathetic West, all over women raped and there is no moral outrage. One in four Swedish females should expect to be raped by African and Muslim immigrants – and those gutless wonders don’t throw out the lot. Kudos to Italy for not allowing any more in, but here in Toronto a priest, Father de Souza, over the weekend in a newspaper column bewailed Italy not allowing a ship with rescued migrants to dock. If he’d been honest, he’d have pointed out that Italians have had a guts full of their girls and women being raped, citizens murdered, churches vandalized, citizens having to set up vigilantes to deal with migrants, so don’t want any more. Of course the Pope does, but he’s an idiot anyway.

In all seriousness I agree with you. I believe that he is almost certainly a Marxist at heart and all too aware of what he is doing. His failure to confront the Muslim world over its savage treatment and murder of Christians in particular speaks volumes. His claim that we worship the same God reflects his ignorance and stupidity regarding Islam. Christianity has nothing in common with Islam, a pagan, made-up load of rubbish that the late Christopher Hitchens on a tv show so correctly described as “all bullshit”. Pope Francis is a disgusting man, a fraud and imposter, yet which Catholic priests, Bishops, Cardinals, etc. are speaking out against this vile deceiver of followers?

Good in theory. Impossible in practice. It would only take ONE unaltered copy to restart the disease and while it sounds okay I have to be against any such censorship. These swine have to have their disposition towards violence knocked out of them by far greater violence as history has proven that they ONLY respect far greater violence. A subtle way could be to recompile the koran such that the violent suras are abrogated by the peaceful ones but as I said, one copy of the original and it all goes west. IMO they have to have the fear of death knocked into them and this will cost millions of lives as they have been getting away with violence for far too along to throw it in. No other way but to erase them. Horrible isn’t it? In the west I would make ALL imams, madrassa teachers(if young) and family equally culpable for any jihad crime and destroy all mosques/madrassas associated with violence and I would segregate muslims in their own NON halal prisons and bugger their “human rights”. They need boots on their neck , not helping hands.

To even propose re-writing the quranus from within the confines of any muslum state would probably constitute a criminal offense. “small number”??? The “training” that most muslims would be assassins undergo is the ritual killing of the poor goat or sheep , often stolen in the west, for their halal meals/celebrations. ALL males must do this. As for “small number” try walking past ANY mosque in a western muslim ghetto wearing a muhammad T shirt at 1pm on Friday and enjoy that “small number” as they all kick you to death. Ok so with all these documented restrictions placed on Muslims from Red China who travel abroad why do we think that all the millions of Chinese immigrants who have arrived in the USA and Canada for the last 50 years are not similarly vetted by Beijing? I guess Beijing just lets all these Chinese immigrants float around the globe because they are happy to grant freedom of movement to their citizens. LOL

It’s not islamophobia when they really do want to kill you. The threats posed by Islam and its adherents are quite real. Phobias are irrational. Nothing irrational about fearing an ideology that seeks to destroy the civilization that your ancestors have been building for 3000 years.

I didn’t mention Islamophobia…I referred to “Islamopanderers”….apologists for Islam who bend over backwards to not “offend” the Muslim monsters. “Islamophobia” was invented (I think by CAIR) to squelch criticism of their hideous ideology. Think of it as a form of “word jihad” to conquer the guilt-ridden West who have been brainwashed to think all foreign cultures, including barbaric cultures, are more noble than their own Western Civilization.

The ChiComs are making the aecond known effort to eradicate Islam from their territory. The other effort was by the Spanish in the 14th and 15th Centuries who finally banned the cult and either converted them to Christianity or killed and exiled the remaining adherents. It will be interesting to follow the ChiCom program to see if it is successful. The article fails to mention the forced marriage of Uighur women to Han Chinese men.

The one child policy on China has led to an imbalance between males and females, and I doubt whether either partner has much choice in the matter. Once paired off with her Han husband I doubt whether she can practice Islam or convey the cult to her children.

The Chinese are seeking their own identity now, and are eliminating any vestiges of foreign invasion, such as the British empire dominating China through the opium trade, and Japan invading China in the 1930’s.
China was subjugated to foreign domination during those periods, and even the Mongol invasions from Gingas Khan led to foreign domination.
The Chinese see the Islamic invasion and domination of Western China as just another foreign domination of the Chinese people.
If they are successful, it could lead to other regions attempting to establish their own cultures and values which were oppressed and destroyed by the Arab invasion, although probably nothing like in China.

Islam is like the ‘Borg’, from Star Trek, TNG. ‘Assimilate or Die.’ After a couple of generations, people don’t know any different.
If rights are slowly whittled away from people, they tend not to notice after a while. Same with a totalitarian religion.

It is tragic that America is welcoming Islam within our borders. We are injecting the poison that will kill America eventually as surely as the poison that is injected into a prisoner having their death penalty enforced. Future generations will look back to the time when this could still have been stopped and curse us all to Hell eternal. We can pray that their suffering will not be too great, that the so-called “Constitution” will protect them from the depredations and evil of Islam, but anyone with sense realizes that will not be the case. As more Muslims become congressman and judges they will eventually have no difficulty doing away with those vile and blasphemous (to Islam) so-called equal rights and freedom of religion etc. that the quaint Constitution still, for the time being, enshrines. Maybe Americans are just too soft to engage in what must be done to stop cold the spread of Islam within our borders. Too bad, oh well. la de da, let them worry about that in the future, when it is too late to do anything about it. Maybe China will be able to save America before it is Islamized.

Sooner or later China’s oppression of the Uighurs (and it is that, even though Islam is a hateful faith) is going to result in a shooting war, possibly with the intervention of Muslim groups from outside China. I can’t wait to see it happen; the two belief systems deserve each other; it may make Muslims worldwide decide that we are no longer their #1 enemy; and both are likely to suffer plenty of damage in the fight.
If it happens, Western countries should not throw away these benefits by overtly intervening.
As for the revised Koran, I like the notion but believe it will backfire. Islam might indeed someday undergo its own “Protestant Reformation” and become a faith alongside which the rest of us can live, but they are enough of an in-group that they are not going to accept such changes from a source outside Islam. Better, I think, to find ways to protect “reformist” Muslim dissenters against violence by their opponents.

I don’t agree with the Chinese very often, but for this claim I’d say they are mostly right! It is the main way Islam spreads, by force. Less than 25% of the time it spreads though trickery and lies. What the converts do not realize until it is too late, is that you cannot reject Islam once you become Muslim. The punishment is death to all who do so. I hope the Chinese purge it from their country. The same methods will not work against Christianity, Rome could not stop it, and neither will Islam or the Chinese.
