Amtrak's Cardinal and Michigan Trip - Chicago July 17-19

Above the clouds over Chicago on top of the John Hancock Building

Chicago July 17-19

A visit to the Museum of Science and Industry and a visit to the top of the John Hancock Building highlight my time in Chicago. The Museum of Science and Industry is one of my favorite because of their really large model railroad layout. In the selected photos below you will note that this layout included a model size Seattle, WA, including the Space Needle but also King Street Station from which I take Amtrak's Empire Builder. I also was impressed by the Extreme Ice exhibit about the melting of the ice glaciers resulting from climate change, the submarine U-505, and circus exhibits. Here are some selected photos from the Museum.

I also visited the top of the John Hancock Building on Michigan Avenue. I was really impressed with the clouds coming in over the skyline below me from 94 floors in the air. Also at the bottom of the John Hancock Building I discovered a Benehina Japanese Restaurant where I did eat an early dinner. Here are selected photos from my visit to the John Hancock Building.

And here is a photo of a Chicago Water Taxi. I've never ridden one.

Don't forget you can click on the photos for a full size photo.

Thursday evening I head to East Lansing, Michigan, to visit with my nephew Charles and his wife Mary for four nights. My next blog update will cover my visit to Michigan.
