Firefly on an open thread

39

Take me to the Fireflies ball on a Friday night open thread.

For the young and decidedly hip: Gaga

“Firefly” is song composed by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh. Song is the original track from Tony Bennett’s 1959 album In Person! accompanied by the Count Basie Orchestra. Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett covered the song for their jazz collaborative album, Cheek to Cheek.

Story continues below advertisement

The lyrics are everything.

I call her Firefly
Cause, oh, my
She radiates moonglow
Wants none of that noon glow
She starts to glitter
When the sun goes down

Bout eight p.m., it’s mayhem
She switches the brights up
Lights up and gives me a call
Take me to the Fireflies ball

But when I get her there
Set her there
Do I get to pet her there
And grab me some glow

No, she’s a gad about, mad about
Luring every lad about
While leaving me moaning low

Oh, Firefly, why can’t I
Latch on to you no how
Oh, how I love you but gee
While you set the night on
Firefly, shine a little light on me

Wonderful dance music, sounds like Charleston. What I find interesting about it
are the unswervingly optimistic chords. It’s so New York that Pamela can’t let it
go. I award one plus point this time, because nobody cries over his “lost lover”.

When I think of fireflies, I inevitably have to think of Edison’s experiments.
Typical man, we think in technical, not romantic categories. We only think
“romantic” when we think we are hitting the nerve of a woman who we can
conquer as soon as possible. Genesis sang “I can’t dance”. Typical man.

Today is Jürgen’s birthday. Typical Gemini. Don’t want to translate his jokes
for you now. Just seen one where he talks about his dog he had neutered.
And who looks at him reproachfully after the anaesthesia, because “down
there” something is missing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C3%BCrgen_von_der_Lippe

Speaking of dancing: Today I had visited a woman who has been watching
this nonsense for 10 years! I just thought I was suffocating every moment
with disgust at my food. That’s not European culture, that’s not even culture,
that’s pure clownworld. Who the hell infiltrates such rubbish into our media?

I was so disgusted that I preferred to go home.
Either women have a screw loose, or my theory
is correct that it is they who make society stupid.

Who would have thought it: “Many of his sketches are literal translations from
Bill Cosby (e.g.
Rache = revenge) or George Carlin (e.g. interview with Jesus).”

Irony is a powerful tool. There are men who feel “persecuted” by women, their paranoia becomes reality. One can
also consciously talk oneself into it (self-programming). Serge Gainsburg said that he despises his inspiration, so
he is constantly haunted by it. Marshall Rosenberg would react to a demonstratively ignorant woman like this: “It
hurts my feelings, if you ignore me, please look at me!” A hopelessly naive approach! “Pardon: I wouldn’t have
looked at you from the corner of my eye if I’d known who I was looking at!” is much more effective I advise you!

I, too, was once a very “sensitive” person. Did you know that fathers among two hundred
babies can smell at their backs which is their child? And that women cannot do this? And
that in the first three years of life children resemble their dads, so that these fathers stay
with the woman and take care of the child? A photo of my son shortly after he was born.

against malpositioned teeth. Although this was already
14 years ago, this realization is still not generally known.

Vince Clarke, whom I helped in Hamburg with his album “Chorus” (I was also present at Depeche Modes “Songs of Faith and Devotion”), became a father for the first time one month before me (September 2005), although he is almost 10 years older. He named his son after the synthesizer “OSCar”. This is Oscar with Jean Michel Jarre. https://www.instagram.com/p/2RzSA0K8aF/

Even though I laid the cables for the rather acoustic Depeche Mode production and provi-
ded for a good mood with coffee and food, it seems unreal to me today that I contributed
to the fact that this production sounded from millions of loudspeakers and occupied place
one of the international charts. My little share was even heard in New York, through help.

I’ve had several such wonderful events. In 1995 I met my former partner on

“Radio Hamburg” in a dating show. She was obviously impressed that with-
out stage fright I was able to express my wishes to an audience of millions.

Although I’m best friend with Scorpio & Taurus, Geminis have managed to arouse my
interest. We have Gemini. Both the partner via “Radio Hamburg” (late June-Gemini)
and the mother of my son (early May-Gemini). My family is full of Geminis and Leos.
My dad (May-Gemini) and his mum (June gemini) lie in the same grave. Leo & Gemi-
ni fit well. Fire needs air to glow. Pam’s Aries-Mars & her Gemini sun are her fireflies.

You can rely on my astro-logical instinct: “Composed by Cy Coleman (Gemini)

and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh (Leo). Cy was born on the same day as my Ham-
burg girlfriend. And Carolyn on the same day as my Jewish grandmother.

According to Jewish tradition, I would be Jewish,
since my mother was born of a Jewess. My son,
was not, he was born of a non-Jewish woman.
Could he ever become a Jew? He still doesn’t

know that his great-grandmother was Jewish.

The Australians look more artificial, while typical flirting

Geminis message is: “Do you know why
you love me? Because you can’t have me!”
That’s why we love them (or “think” we do).

Because while you’re dreaming of her, Mrs. Butterfly has long for-
gotten you. Superficiality is part of her nature, and therefore so in-
teresting for some men who believe they can possess her after all.

Unmistakable: the first indications of the Jewish genome (“chutzpah”)

Well, nobody forces others to read the “all the silly chatter” in an “Open
Thread”. But “all the silly chatter” would be a pretty accurate summary of
a person with self-reflection about his 3-years-“activity” (1179 Upvotes for
746 “comments”) he could have spared in his and others interers interest.

Which is really not surprising on closer inspection: apart from stupidly frustrated hatred, infan-
tile self-appointed “patriotism” and cowardly fantasies of execution, there is nothing to be dis-
cerned among them that is independently thought, ethically valuable or even personally wise.

But it’s most likely that this is again only the typical expression of the inferiority complex of the underprivileged educational background which is widespread today and which, in contrast to earlier times, want to “participate in the social discourse”. Because anyone who does not suf-
fer from it not only spits into the cyberspace, but also has at least something interesting to tell.

To flush yourself down the toilet would make the question
superfluous, if ever a person in this world misses you. The-
re’s a very simple reason for this: you belong right there.

‘Firefly’. Almost 30 years ago, when I was working at the
“Chateau”, I had beautiful firm, reddish-brown wavy hair.
But my inner life’s filled now, no more empty gaze again.

The second pic shows my personality quite well. The right rational eye
(controlled by the left hemisphere of my brain) unfailingly analyzes the
environment – while the left “emotional eye” radiates inner satisfaction.

There is a great documentary film by a Jewish-American director which must be called “Sleep”
or something similar. It must be a few years old. He, who suffers from insomnia, films his little
son sleeping for several nights. I didn’t find it. If you can give me a hint, please let me know.
