Yes, Democrats Have Removed ‘So Help Me God’ From House Committee Oaths

“I think God belongs in religious institutions”

The Democrats have continued their mission to root God out of the public square in the name of secularism by removing “so help me God” from the U.S. House of Representatives oath witnesses must take when testifying before several of the congressional committees, all of which are currently under Democratic control.

According to LifeSiteNews, the changes to the oaths have been slowly implemented ever since House Democrats announced the new policy in January, which immediately faced backlash.

“In January, a draft of a rules package from the Natural Resource Committee was leaked to the public showing ‘so help me God’ marked for deletion, replaced with the phrase ‘under penalty of law,'” reports the outlet.

Even Snopes admitted at the time that Democrats indeed had tried to take God out of the oaths. Here’s what the original document stated before Democrats retracted it:

(e) Oaths. — The Chairman of the Committee, the Chairmen of the Subcommittees or any Member designated by the Chairman may administer oaths to any witness before the Committee. All witnesses appearing in hearings may be administered the following oath by the Chairman or his designee prior to receiving the testimony: ‘Do you solemnly swear or affirm that the testimony that you are about to give is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help you God?’

Chairman Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) claimed the removal of God from the oaths was a simple “mistake.” Despite that, the Democrats eventually went on to push God out of the oaths, which One America News pointed out in March when Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TX), chair of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, specifically omitted “so help me God” when swearing witnesses in at a hearing. When Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) tried to correct the oath, Cohen publicly rebuked him. Take a look:

Last month, The New York Times reported that Democrats have made “so help me God” a forgotten and buried tradition in the U.S. House, with Rep. Steve Cohen telling the outlet he finds the phrase inappropriate for Congress.

“I think God belongs in religious institutions: in temple, in church, in cathedral, in mosque — but not in Congress,” said Cohen. “And God doesn’t want to be used.”

The more that God can be removed from the daily lives of people, the more corrupt and degenerate the people become. Removing God from our daily lives has resulted in our country being on a course of self destruction. Thank you democRATS and liberals for the destruction of the greatest country that ever existed.

The religion of Baal called for sacrifice and cannibalism of children. When the Jews rejected god and would turn to Baal the levitical warning was fulfilled.

That verse was predictive. For instance, during the 2 year siege of Jerusalem prior to its fall in 70 ad the environs actually starved and some were sacrificing their own children for food to survive and because they burned up all the wood in the city they had to use human dung to heat their food. Perhaps it would help you to dig a little deeper before you make such declarations as you have. The Decalogue is man’s moral compass. Your choice is to accept it or reject it. Please rethink.

Roughly 1.5 million perished horribly. Pella was the haven for the Christians who, when warned, believed, and fled. Zero Christians were forced to eat the dead and drink poisoned water.

I’ll put my ‘pretend’ God up against the State’s god of Socialistic Technocracy any day.

You are right… in a sense. Without God, there are no morals to be had.

As Richard Dawkins says, which is obvious to many who think about such things, without God, there is neither good nor evil and thus, “we are just dancing to the tune of our DNA.”

Without God, who decides what is good and what is evil? One societal norm over another? That certainly doesn’t make one norm moral and the other immoral. It just makes one the preferred for that society.

Since you obviously reject God, then you also must not believe in moral values and therefor you believe moral values don’t come from God… because moral values don’t exist.

There are many people who read the Bible and perhaps by your statement you are one of those. But I find many people don’t actually understand what is in the Bible so they misread it. And given that you seem to focus on snippets, my guess is you actually haven’t really read the Bible so that you have no idea what the context is or the actual message.

As for Leviticus 26:27-29… it seems we are already doing that and don’t see anything wrong with it. There was a chef who fried up the placenta of his aborted baby and ate it… the placenta has the identical DNA of his aborted child… without a moral compass, we can choose anything we want and declare it as good but that doesn’t actually make it good because in your world, good doesn’t even exist.

The next time you see or experience some injustice, just tell yourself, it wasn’t actually injustice you saw or experienced because it was neither good nor evil so it couldn’t be just or unjust… it’s just your preference.

Lev 26:21-38 was a curse. Hundreds of examples of siege warfare describe just that scene. What your nuttybible misinterpretation misses is that G*d does preserve his people if they behave morally. But we don’t see any examples of our society completely falling apart as we’ve pulled off the guard rails and tell the people that Socialism can make them fly.
38 And ye shall perish among the heathen, and the land of your enemies shall eat you up.
Nope, nothing to see here…

Actually, “So help me God” makes no more sense than “So help me Zeus”,
“So help me Allah”, “So help me Spiderman”, or “So help me Mighty
Mouse”. How much longer are we going to insist on believing in and
worshiping an invisible, mythical God for whom there is not, nor has
there ever been, a shred of proof or evidence? How much longer are we
going to continue to try to believe in the unbelievable and be proud of
it rather than ashamed?comment image

So, you can’t see any shred of evidence for God ? You must be walking around blind, otherwise you would see the brilliance of his intelligence in his creation that was only marred by human sin and rebellion against the creator. To believe in the unbelievable would be to believe that in the beginning was nothing and then nothing exploded and arranged itself miraculously just by itself into everything.

To Merlinever, morals, ethics, and even law are unsupportable distractions in a finite life. His philosophy offers nothing to justify even any reason to exist. This is self evident in his nihilistic reasoning.

Just looking at the life cycle of the butterfly proves there must be a G-D intelligence to create it.

It is a simple mistake that
Chairman Raul Grijalva (D-AZ)is in our government. He should be recalled immediately and tried for sedition!.
I am not a religious person but I strongly believe that America is one nation under G-D. It always has been till the caliph obama sneaked into the WH

They don’t believe in God anymore than they believe in telling the truth, the Constitution, and doing their jobs. Why don’t they just get rid of the oaths altogether, so they can have more time screwing the country over?

The United States of America was founded on Christian values. That is the primary
reason for the country’s enormous success ! The democratic-fascist left wants to destroy this country and make it into a dictatorship.
For your own sake and that of your children and their children etc do not allow this to happen. Our fathers fought for this free country and we must also fight !
