U.S. may review ties with countries deemed anti-Israel

Story continues below advertisementThe United States may review its ties with countries it deems as being anti-Israel after what a U.S. envoy said on Sunday was a shift in policy towards equating anti-Zionism with antisemitism.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a March speech that anti-Zionism – opposition to Israel’s existence as a homeland for the Jewish people – was a form of antisemitism, or hostility toward Jews, that was on the rise worldwide and that Washington would “fight it relentlessly”.
The State Department’s special envoy for monitoring and combating antisemitism, Elan Carr, said this US position could spell reviews of ties with foreign governments or leaders.
“The United States is willing to review its relationship with any country, and certainly antisemitism on the part of a country with whom we have relations is a deep concern,” he told Reuters during a visit to Israel.
“I will be raising that issue in bilateral meetings that I am undertaking all over the world,” he said. “That is something we are going to have frank and candid conversations about – behind closed doors.”
Carr declined to cite specific countries or leaders, or to elaborate on what actions the Trump administration might take.
“I obviously can’t comment on diplomatic tools that we might bring to bear,” he said. “Each country is a different diplomatic challenge, a different situation, number one. And number two, if I started disclosing what we might do it would be less effective.”
Some U.S. political analysts say that President Donald Trump and other Republicans hope support for Israel will attract Jewish voters, including those disaffected by pro-Palestinian voices within progressive Democratic Party circles.
At the same time, critics have credited Trump’s confrontational, nationalistic rhetoric with encouraging right-wing extremists and feeding a surge in activity by American hate groups. The administration has flatly rejected that charge.
Carr said the administration’s equating of anti-Zionism with antisemitism “certainly breaks new ground … by making clear that something that a lot of us who are involved in the Jewish world and a lot of us who are proponents of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship have known for quite some time, and that is that one of the chief flavors of antisemitism in the world today is the flavour that conceals itself under anti-Zionism”.

I am grateful to see a US administration stand up for Israel in international diplomacy. For years, Moslem countries have been able to exact a price on countries that maintain good relations with Israel. While that situation is changing, I am happy to see a heavyweight indicate that blackballing Israel is not cost free.

Exceeded your expectations? They must have been pretty low?
All this guy does is talk and consider and mull and think about. Then does nothing or the opposite. Might close the border. Nope! Gives Mexico another year, meanwhile over 1000 illegals a day enter and become American Citizens. Might declare drug cartels as terrorist organizations. That was 2 months ago. Nothing has happened.
Mulling over banning the Muslim Brotherhood from the US. Wait and see. He will do nothing. Might send armed military to the border after Mexican Army holds up a couple American soldiers inside the USA. Does nothing!
Do you see a pattern here? Probably not. Trump is presiding over the fall of the US. He’s a Trojan Horse (which is why he is such an authority on horse racing) and you thought you were getting a stopper didn’t you?

Do you bother to see how Trump is smacked down each time with a liberal judge when he does something? Then it travels through the courts on appeal. His reasonable travel ban had to go to the Supreme Court and that was a 5-4 decision. Other Presidents did it without challenge. He has declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. Maybe you should be dumping on DEMS and the GOP?

President Donald Trump’s administration has quietly reactivated a computer check that warns employers when their new employees are likely to be illegal immigrants.
Democrats, however, are protesting the new push to protect American families from illegal immigrants in the nation’s job market.
The so-called “no-match” letter warns employers that their employees’ claimed Social Security Numbers are suspect — and so allows the employers to minimize their legal risks by quietly firing the employees who do not have a right to work. The program was stopped by President Barack Obama mainly because it was so effective at warning employers.
Many — but not all — employers will cooperate and fire the illegals, she predicted. “A lot of employers want to do the right thing, and they have been duped by false documents, and they want to get into compliance with the law.” However, the new policy will not deter the many employers who pay their illegal immigrants under the table, she said.
But pro-migration Democrats are denouncing Trump’s pro-employee reform. On May 2, a group of more than 40 Democrats touted likely flaws in the wage-boosting process.

This policy of flooding the market with cheap foreign white-collar graduates and blue-collar labor shifts enormous wealth from young employees towards older investors even as it also widens wealth gaps, reduces high-tech investment, increases state and local tax burdens, and hurts children’s schools and college educations. It also pushes Americans away from high-tech careers and sidelines millions of marginalized Americans, including many who are now struggling with fentanyl addictions. The labor policy also moves business investment from the heartland to the coasts, explodes rents, shrivels real estate values in the Midwest, and rewards investors for creating low-tech, labor-intensive workplaces.
