Harris on Allowing Boston Marathon Bomber to Vote from Prison: ‘We Should Have That Conversation’
Monday during a CNN town hall event in New Hampshire, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), a candidate for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, responded to a question about felons voting from prison, similar to one offer to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).Harris suggested a “conversation” was in order about the possibility.
Partial transcript as follows:
DON LEMON, CNN HOST: Another issue that I want to talk to you about — this is really important — I’m not sure if you were watching earlier, but Senator Bernie Sanders said that he is in favor of felons being able to vote while serving in prison. He was asked specifically about people like the Boston Marathon bomber, also people who are convicted of sexual assault. And he said, this is a quote, “The right to vote is inherent to our democracy, yes, even for terrible people.” Do you agree with that, Senator?
SEN. KAMALA HARRIS (D-CA), DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: I agree that the right to vote is one of the very important components of citizenship and it is something that people should not be stripped of needlessly, which is why I have been long an advocate of making sure that the formally incarcerated are not denied a right to vote, which is the case in so many states in our country, in some states permanently deprived of the right to vote.
And these are policies that go back to Jim Crow. These are policies that go back to the heart of policies that have been about disenfranchisement, policies that continue until today, and we need to take it seriously.
LEMON: But people who are in — convicted, in prison, like the Boston Marathon bomber, on death row, people who are convicted of sexual assault, they should be able to vote?
HARRIS: I think we should have that conversation.

Influential California politician Willie Brown inserted himself into Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign this week, penning an op-ed for the San Francisco Chronicle detailing his romantic relationship with her in the 1990s. The relationship was never a secret, but the public acknowledgement ignited new criticisms of Harris. Commentators began to imply she benefitted professionally from the personal relationship, possibly even only getting to where she is today because of their liaison.
Willie Brown was a fixture in California politics for years, serving as speaker of the state assembly for 15 years, and known as something of an unofficial deal-maker and influencer. He first met Harris in 1994, when she was an assistant district attorney in Alameda County. He was 60 years old at the time, and had been estranged from his wife, Blanche Brown, since 1981.

When will this insanity stop. From my perspective this agenda should work in favor of the Republican Party, and I can only hope that there are enough people in our electorate who can recognize the foolishness of all of these Democratic candidates. To state that they believe that convicted and incarcerated felons should be allowed to vote because they are American citizens and the Constitution gives them that right, is not only grabbing for continuing power, but why not carry that kind of thinking to allowing them to have guns as the Constitution also allows that. These candidates are moronic, and I hope that the electorate sees that, and turns to the more realist republican candidates.

Fortunately I don’t need to waste my time reading this report because by virtue of the lead figures being who and what they are, everything they’re saying is so depressingly familiar. They’re running hard to sound “progressive” but really.
On both sides of the pond now, it’s an undeniable truth that there is no bar so low in political life or the public discourse that some wicked lefty Marxist won’t try to kick it down even further, and those neo Nazi pennywise characters like Sanders and the rest are the proof.
They really need cutting down to size because they’ve started campaigning with that poison.

Felons vote Democrat because 1) Democrats steal from everyone for them with exorbitant taxes and use some of that money to give welfare benefits to the felons 2) Democrats see society as the criminal that forced the felon to be a felon and that the felon is only in prison because he is a victim of racism and so push to get the felons out of jail.
