Minnesota Senate Bans Cellphones While Driving EXCEPT for Hijabed Muslimas, No Ban for Them

Legislating Islamic supremacism. The Minnesota Senate on Monday voted 56-10 to advance a House-passed cell phone ban  bill (SF 91 – see bill here). But the Senate added an amendment that exempts hijabed Muslims. Equality for all before the law? Not under sharia law – special rules for a special class, Muslim special privilege under new Minnesota law.

Minnesota Senate approves ban on using cellphone while driving

A proposal to ban holding a cellphone while driving in Minnesota remains on track to become law.

The Minnesota Senate on Monday voted 56-10 to advance a House-passed distracted-driving bill. But the Senate added an amendment that would exempt those who place a phone to their ear using a scarf, hijab or another article of clothing from the penalty.

Families who’d lost loved ones to distracted-driving-related crashes cheered from the Senate galleries. The group spent years urging change at the Capitol.

The Minnesota House of Representatives approved the bill last week. But due to the tweak on the Senate floor, it will not go directly to the governor’s desk. It will head to a conference committee so members of both chambers can work out a deal.

Gov. Tim Walz has said he will sign the bill into law once it gets there.
WHY DO WE NEED A NEW LAW?

Texting while driving is banned under current law and those found in violation face petty misdemeanor charges and a $50 fine for the first offense. But law enforcement officers have had trouble enforcing the law, as drivers have said they’re handling their phones behind the wheel for other reasons.

The bill would set petty misdemeanor charges and a $50 fine for drivers found using their phones without using a hands-free or one-touch setting. Use of a phone for emergency communication would be exempt under the proposal.

Supporters said passing the bill was key to getting Minnesotans to put the phone down while they’re driving and, in turn, reducing distracted-driving-related fatalities.

“All I’m asking for in this bill is put your phone down, put your eyes back on the road where they belong,” Sen. Scott Newman, R-Hutchinson, said. “I know we’re going to save lives.”

OPPONENTS: BAN LIMITS PERSONAL FREEDOM

Opponents raised concerns about not going far enough to combat using phones on Minnesota’s roadways and about limiting drivers’ personal freedoms in their vehicles. And Sen. Torrey Westrom, R-Elbow Lake, said he was worried about a constituent who works as a carpenter and uses his time in the car to field phone calls.

“That is not as unreasonable as eating a Big Mac or putting your makeup on (while) driving here in the metro,” Westrom said. “For that small-business person, now it’s going to be illegal for them to use their cell phone if they at all have it in their hand.”

Texting and driving citations jumped 30 percent in one year, from 7,357 tickets in 2017 to 9,545 tickets in 2018, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety reported earlier this year.

Minnesota will be our first caliphate. Muslim, girl friend beater, Governor Keith Ellison will ELEVATE Muslims to show they are superior to the infidel in any way he can. He will also promote Sharia Law. Muslims see themselves as superior.

So, wear your hijab. We hear time and again that Muslimas are not forced to wear it, that it is simply a choice. Muslims will of course say that male wearing a hijab or niqab or burka is Islamophobic and is a hate crime. Bullshit. That will also apply to males, so go ahead, mask up and dial. The law will soon say you can.

Minnesota is down the tubes. The people must be suffering from brain freeze judging by the way they vote. Perhaps the native Minnies are waiting for the Muslims to freeze their brains too and leave. Where has the Spirit of ’76 gone? Where is pro America patriotism?

They aren’t aware, or do not read, or they are mainly of the liberal persuasion. I don’t know. It’s their state, but that state is in the US.
Comes a time when a majority finally realizes that actions have consequences. Some are good consequences and some may not be.
Are the newcomers assimilating well to common core American principles?

Not only is this law unreasonable and ill advised, it signals the beginning of the take over of the state of Minnesota by a people who bring with them customs , mores and traditions that are so foreign and inappropriate for the American way of life, that, from my perspective, it is insane. If the point was to protect both the user of the phone from contributing to an accident and a third party, then what about the other party who might be in an accident because a driver was distracted by the use of a cell phone. Inane is the understatement when it comes to this law. We must stop these totally foreign, dangerous traditions which constitute Islam now before it is too late. Since I believe that this law does not apply equally to all drivers, our courts should declare it unconstitutional, and by doing so make the point that all people within this country are to be treated equally, rejecting Sharia which requires its believers to stay covered, where the covering interferes with what is otherwise expected by our traditions, conduct and mores.

Actually how can they drive while wearing a hijab? It severely restricts your field of vision. Try putting one or a similar ski mask on to see what I mean.

It is odd that in today’s time, the simplest act has become complex, and worthy of discussion and dissent.
When one drives, under no circumstances should one be distracted, by anything or anyone. You do not drive and text, or use phone.
If one is caught, a hefty fine should be levied. The second time, loss of privilege to drive. The third time, jail and indefinite loss of driving privileges.

That’s what conquers do. Islam is a conquering ideology disguised as a “religion” You assimilate to them or else. Muslims are infiltrating our government and country to conquer it. Idiots are voting them in office to show they embrace “diversity” , not biased or racist. Islam is not necessarily a race. It is an ideology that anyone can convert to.

So I guess they’ll make another law banning “scarf, hijab or another article of clothing”.

That’s what lawyers do. They hammer out laws all day. That’s all they know. If you don’t want another frigg’n stink’n LAW then stop hiring them.

Again, if the U.S. goes down this sewer, THAT WILL BE IT FOR THE ENTIRE WESTERN WORLD!
ARE WE ALL SICK OF LIVING OR IS IT WE HAVE NO BRAIN FUNCTION ANYMORE!

“Exempt those – who place a phone to their ear – using a scarf – a hijab – or
another article of clothing – from the penalty”.

Besides mentioning some people in religious garb – what does that even
mean? If you wear a floppy hat, are you then exempt?

The Minnesota Swamp Rats who enacted this vague and confusing bill –
which is now well on its way to becoming law in the state of Minnesota –
have a swampy friend in their Governor, Tim Walz, who has declared he
will definitely sign it into official law.

It sounds like the legislators are falling all over themselves to cater to
Muslims – to the point of embarrassing cowardice. The rest of America
should pray that there are still some brave Minnesotans who will
challenge this travesty in Court. The only court where a law like this
could possibly prevail is an anti-American Sharia Court.

I’ve read many times that once Muslim numbers grow in the population –
they will relentlessly pressure and cajole for demands that favor Muslims.
If this boondoggle bill isn’t an example of that – I don’t know what is.

How did people manage their lives before mobile phones? They had to stop the vehicle and find a pay phone. The penalties are ridiculously light anyway! A ban on driving for six months would be more suitable and 500 dollar fine.
Why on earth are hijab wearers excused? The whole point is ones attention is distracted from driving, this has been proven many times by research,

I cant believe what I am reading. Minnesota has gone daft. NOBODY should be on the phone when they drive. It is very dangerous. I was in an accident years ago because the driver was on the phone with his girlfriend. And the burqa should not be worn while driving. These women have very bad peripheric vision.

The answer is right there in the article…..hands free device. Due to arthritis I have always had trouble holding a phone up to my ear. I could never come close to holding a phone with my shoulder, that’s for sure. I have been using a hands free device of some sort for over 14 years. Admittedly, the A/C air movement does occasionally mess up the conversation, but it is a lot safer.
