President Trump restarts effort to eliminate federal funding for leftist bastions PBS, NPR, NEA

36

This is much-needed, and yet another courageous initiative from President Trump. NPR, PBS, and the NEA: these are all propaganda arms for the far-left. They don’t deserve a penny of taxpayer money. Why should American citizens have to pay for globalist, anti-American, socialist propaganda? These cuts are urgently needed. Imagine how loud the outcry would be if there were a federally-funded organization that was pro-Trump. Well, it’s no different in this case. Taxpayers should not be forced to fund organs of the Democrat Party. Yet no doubt Congressional Republicans will fight this.

“Donald Trump Reups Effort to Eliminate PBS, NPR Federal Funding,” by Joshua Caplan, Breitbart, March 18, 2019:

President Donald Trump’s proposed federal budget for 2020 aims to cut all funding for PBS and NPR, along with the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA).

Story continues below advertisement

The president’s request, unveiled in its entirety on Monday, calls on Congress to kill $435 million in funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and $126 million from the NEA. The budget, which will spend $4.7 trillion on mandatory and discretionary programs, would leave just enough money to wind down operations of the CPB and NEA.

“[P]rivate fundraising has proven durable, negating the need for continued Federal subsidies,” the budget reads. “Services such as PBS and NPR, which receive funding from CPB, could make up the shortfall by increasing revenues from corporate sponsors, foundations, and members. In addition, alternatives to PBS and NPR programming have grown substantially since CPB was first established in 1967, greatly reducing the need for publicly funded programming options.”

In a statement, PBS president and CEO Paula Kerger criticized the proposal to slash funding, noting Americans have named PBS among the most publically trusted “known institutions” for the past 16 years….

Despite public broadcast’s apparent bias against conservatives, a Republican-controlled Congress has funded CPB in 2017 and 2018.

Trump had his chance to do that in 2017 and 2018. Losing the House means that this opportunity was lost.

Long overdue

If Trump is smart enough , he should pass E.O to ban all terror linked persons from coming to America and those who advocate for them should lose their citizenship and deported as terror agents.

Unless this is done there will be never ending jihadi cases . And America will become like canada/EU

Like Left/Liberal Loons Run Canada has been turned into ISIS/jihadi base https://tinyurl.com/y74v5327

Term limits won’t matter.
An educated populace should be the term limit patrol.
I guarantee you, if a miracle happens, and term limits happen, they will take turns.
As one reaches their term limit, another swamp critter will replace the person.
They will pass the baton to the next swamp creature.
It’s the voters that need to weed them out in the primary.

You are right that the voters should decide who serves. Term limits remove our freedom to choose. And, if someone is termed out, he is a lame duck for an entire term, instead of only the 2 months from the (lost) election till the next inauguration. Now imagine 145 unaccountable lame ducks in the House, and 34 in the Senate. Permanently. Every session. It’s a really bad idea.

If one were to examine a standard public high school civics/history exam from 1939, one would be astonished at the level of knowledge and sophistication the exam required.

I have, and I was.

The students of that time, dressed in jackets and ties, with extra-curricular activities like “the astronomy club” – generally did well on those tests, and it’s a certainty that today, the average college graduate is not as educated as a high school junior was then.

The decline in civilization has effected every aspect of our cultural life, from the academies, to the media, to the politicians – indeed, even to the architecture and the arts. And it’s a terrible decline, with cities like Seattle reverting to third world status, and New York politicians voting to legalize infanticide (and running Amazon out-of-town, for good measure).

The point? All this talk about term-limits, the need to stop the lunatic left, etc. is nothing more than deck chair arranging on the Titanic – because an increasingly ignorant and undisciplined electorate is sinking this ship of state.

Consider just the mobs at the Kavanaugh hearings – the media on Covington Catholic – or Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren as presidential candidates, for God’s sake!

Franklin said this was “a republic, Madam – if you can keep it.”

A stern warning, that is today entirely unheeded. Indeed, how long will it be before Ben Franklin’s statues are defaced?

Alas, it’s the late, great, U.S.A., as I fear we have passed the point of no return.

The education started going south after the Communists of the 1940s failed to take us down from within….So instead they moved into the education systems….today, their grandchildren are the teachers…..

And once the Bushs and Obama started bringing in ME refugees (invaders) whose “belief system” (NOT A RELIGION) says they have to enslave “non-believers” or kill them….we were already on the path of destruction….
And for the cherry on top of this American pie….we now have MEs in our very Congress where what they believe is opposite of the Constitution….
The vow they took to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America was done with their fingers crossed behind their backs….

I was a young teen gal, when I questioned all the fundraising and government dollars going to PBS. Home of Sesame Street, Teletubbies, Barney and other lucrative children’s programming tied to merchandising deals.

We dumped Disney years ago.

Back in the 90’s I spent some time in Florida with Disney. At that time, there was a quiet civil war between the traditional Disney employees and the liberal LBGT crowd. The LBGT crowd won. Over the years they’d slip in garbage in their movies and stories. I am proud to say we NEVER took our kids to any Disney location. We don’t support garbage. We’d rather vacation somewhere else.

Walt would roll over in his grave if he know what had happened to the company he created! I visited Disney World in 1997 and they had a whole building dedicated to Ellen Degenerate. After that, they started “Gay Day” and families with small kids would stumble on 2 men engaged in anal sex behind the Disney World shrubbery. It’s a DESPICABLE place and not FIT for children any longer!

I started boycotting Disney and their products when a couple of years ago they replaced long time employees with H1-B visa foreigners….because Obama was giving them $12,000 tax break for each one they hired…..
These people were forced to train their replacements under the threat of losing their retirements.
A lot of power plants did the same thing.

Sesame Street recently incorporated an Afghani hijab wearing muslimah — because propaganda is most effective against the very young.

When PBS broadcasts anything about islum it’s nothing but islamic propaganda — ditto for NPR. I remember I used to tune in to Kasey Kasem’s Mid-East in Focus radio show on NPR, a show which presented nothing but islamic propaganda about Israel. Whenever someone would call in with good points defending Israel against the various calumnies about Israel being presented as fact they were quickly cut off.

Paula Kerger herself made the most persuasive case for Trump’s de-funding initiative by taking a political stance against the President. Taxpayer funded organizations should stay out of funding debates. Thank God for President Trump, again. Although we have enjoyed some public programming over the years, they have abused their privileges and politicalized their content to an excessive and indefensible degree. Even we can no long abide them.
