Florida, and now Texas. Bravo! Airbnb is advancing and norming a racist, genocidal movement. This is exactly how horrors such as the Holocaust begin. First the delegitimization of the Jewish state and the dehumanization of the Jews. The boycott, divest and sanction Israel movement is no different from the Nazi boycott of Jewish businesses. The German boycott of Jewish businesses in the lead-up to the Holocaust was the direct antecedent to the whole “boycott Israel” movement.
Texas blacklists Airbnb over West Bank settlement ban

Story continues below advertisementThe Texas Comptroller on Friday publicly updated the list of businesses on the state’s “List of companies that boycott Israel,” pursuant to a Texas government code.
According to Texas protocol which prohibits investment in companies that boycott Israel, Airbnb has 90 days from the day it was added to the list to stop boycotting Israel or to prove that it does not boycott Israel nor taken action against it.
Otherwise, the State of Texas “shall sell, redeem, divest, or withdraw all publicly traded securities of the company, except securities.”
Airbnb’s decision to un-list some 200 properties in politically disputed territory came ahead of the publication of a Human Rights Watch report criticizing home-share companies that list rentals in settlements as contributing to and benefiting from “serious rights abuses and entrenched discriminatory practices.”
Israel, which has repeatedly and vehemently slammed Airbnb since they announced in November their intent to de-list settlements in the West Bank, praised Texas for the move.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Emmanuel Nashon on Saturday said: “We welcome this decision very much and we hope that it will be emulated by other states and other countries in the world.”
More than 400,000 Israelis live in West Bank settlements
Florida has also threatened action over the Airbnb move, warning in January that the home-share company is at risk of facing state sanctions if they do not change the policy.
Airbnb, however, continues to insist it does not support a policy of boycotting Israel.
“We unequivocally reject and oppose the BDS movement and are disappointed by the [Texas] decision,” the company said.
“There are over 20,000 Airbnb hosts in Israel who open their doors and showcase the best of Israeli hospitality to guests from around the world, which boosts local families, businesses and communities.”
“Our community of hosts in Israel has already welcomed more than 1 million guests and we will continue to invest in Israel,” Airbnb added.
Since the November announcement, Airbnb has insisted that its decision to stop listing rental properties in West Bank settlements was part of a broader policy to take a more socially responsible role in the company in regards to conflict zones.

Palestinians and their supporters widely praised the move, which will affect some 200 listings in the West Bank.
Human Rights Watch’s director for Israel and the Palestinian territories, Omar Shakir, said Airbnb’s decision was a “welcome step”.
Much of the international community, including the US and the EU, opposes all Israeli settlements built in the occupied Palestinian territory and considers them among the largest obstacles to peace as they are built on land the Palestinians see as part of their future state
Around 400,000 Israelis live in settlements that dot the West Bank and range in size from tiny hamlets to large towns, in addition to 200,000 living in settlements in occupied east Jerusalem.

Texas will be sued as this exceeds its authority. Do they want to lose ANOTHER lawsuit? If the judge is a Trump appointee, the judge should be asked if his allegiance is to Israel first and not the USA. Airbnb should file the lawsuit in San Francisco to force Texas to send lawyers there to defend the suit.

Except government doesn’t have any rights under the COTUS. Also, foreign sovereign countries are not protected classes, and so how one treats another country is not a government’s business (unless there are federal regulations against it). Airbnb should sue both Florida and Texas in San Francisco, where Airbnb is based, citing diversity jurisdiction…and force both Republican governorships to defend the case before a liberal jury.
