Pompeo: Trump Admin Will Help Iranian People Take ‘Control of Their Capital’
SecState appeals to Iranian public to rein in expansionist Islamic regime

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia—Following meetings with top Saudi Arabian leaders in the country’s capital on Monday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that one of the Trump administration’s top regional goals is to “make sure that the Iranian people get control of their capital,” a shot across the bow to a ruling regime that has spent billions to beef up its foreign military and terrorist operations.
Pompeo, speaking to reporters in Riyadh, said that the Trump administration’s primary goal is to empower the Iranian people to rein in the ruling regime, which has spent a fortune on foreign wars and terror operations as its own people suffer from a collapsing economy.
While the administration has been careful to avoid characterizing its policy as regime change, it has become clear that it does supports efforts by the Iranian people to end Tehran’s expansionist march across the region, particularly in Syria and Yemen. The administration also has stated that it opposes the hardline regime and would offer its support to opposition elements in the country.
“Our effort is to make sure that the Iranian people get control of their capital, and it becomes a nation that is normal and is not conducting terror campaigns that are unrivaled any place else in the world,” Pompeo said.
This set of priorities was raised in private meetings between Pompeo, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.
Asked by the Washington Free Beacon if empowering the Iranian people amounts to a sort of passive backing for regime change in Tehran, officials made clear that the United States has no interest in taking the lead in such efforts. Rather, the Trump administration is working to build a coalition of Arab and European allies who can confront the Islamic Republic.
One piece of this effort includes convincing the Iranian people that their government’s financing of terrorism and foreign wars is preventing ordinary citizens from seeing their country’s economy rebound. U.S. and European economic sanctions, officials say, have decimated the Iranian economy and helped to stir popular protests across Iran.
“The end goal is to convince the Iranian people that America is serious about empowering them and creating opportunity for the Iranian people” to confront the regime about their anger over a foreign policy that spends billions on war and terror, Pompeo said in response to questions from the Free Beacon and other news outlets.
In Saudi Arabia, Pompeo pressed the issue of Iran’s regional meddling and was met with what he characterized as great support.
“You have Iranian-backed Houthis, Iranian-backed Hezbolah, Iranian-backed Shia militias in Iraq, Iranian-backed forces in Syria,” Pompeo said. “In each case, the root of the challenge stems from the revolutionary nature of the Islamic regime and their efforts abroad.”
Saudi leaders are said to be fully onboard with the United States in combatting Iran.
Pompeo will travel back to the United States following meetings in Oman, according to the State Department.
“Secretary Pompeo will return to the United States after his meetings in Muscat, Oman,” said State Department deputy spokesperson Robert Palladino. “This curtailment of travel is required so that the Pompeo family may attend a family funeral. The secretary looks forward to visiting Kuwait to conduct the United States-Kuwait Strategic Dialogue at an agreeable time in the near future.”

This is interesting. Their economy is in the toilet and many MUSLIMS are converting to Christianity and because MANY are doing that the Iranian government is persecuting them. They are rejecting ISLAM In droves! I hope without a war, we help them get their freedom.

Not to sound like a fanboy but I love Pam’s rhetorical style, it’s concise, witty, punchy and evocative. I never get tired of reading her posts.
While I would’ve really liked to see the US/allies bomb the terrorist regime in Iran, something they richly deserve, doing a back-channel regime change is nearly as good. I also really like that Pompeo stated he’ll support the opposition elements, which means he knows that it’s the fundamentalist Muslims who could benefit if America backs regime change.
The worst thing that could happen is to replace one group of Muslims with another. What Iran needs is to bring back real freedom and democracy which they had before Dhimmi Carter helped the Mad Mullahs take power. We need the same sort of regime change in all Islamic nations to get rid of this evil death cult once and for all.

I hear you Felix but I really don’t think we could get away from these savages. So long as we continue to trade with Muslims, allow them into our countries, then the conflicts will spill all over the globe.
This is why I advocate regime change in all Muslim countries. The only solution is the elimination of this ideology exactly in the same way we defeated Nazism.
I think Islam is far worse, at least Nazis didn’t stone their own women to death. It appears Muslims are trying to discover the worst forms of cruelty, torture, misery, violence and death and then spread that around the world.
Eliminating Islam would not only neutralize all threats to us from terrorism, rape-gangs, destruction of freedom, etc but it would spare millions of children, esp. girls born into Islamic states from experiencing the incredibly brutal existence that Islam creates for them.
Sure I’ll settle for kicking out all the bad Muslims (which is most of them) and leave them to their own devices but it’d be better for humanity as a whole if we aimed for the greater goal of eliminating Islam.
Plus then we can trade and travel with these ex-Muslim states without any fear of being kidnapped, raped, tortured and killed.

I always loved Harper, but Scheer is a great guy too. So long as the Conservatives continue to oppose Islam and mass migration, I’ll always vote for them.
It’s terribly sad that in Britain all the big parties are nearly identical. They talk tough and lie to voters yet they all bow down to their Muslim overlords in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran, Qatar and so on.
At least in Canada, we have a real distinction between the Left and Right still and they are adversaries.
So we Canadians still have a chance to save ourselves by electing our own Trump, which is Scheer. I’ll be at the front of the line on voting day.

Everyone used to rant and rave about the Arabpig spring bringing “democracy” across the muslum states of the Mid-East and N. Africa but what it brought was a democratic vote for a totalitarian theocracy. I’m not putting much faith in the f’ing Iranians giving up the Arabpig death cult for freedom, liberty and democracy.

The passed presidunce supported insurrection in Egypt, outright war in Libya and Syria. Much of that went to muslim brotherhood, or al qaeda . He gave by to the madmullahs for slaughtering their own people, and again on their forcing a proxy war with the Saudis in Yemen.

I suggest Pompeo make a movie about the true history of Babylon to inspire the Iranians to free themselves from islamic cult. The “brains” behind the world’s first prosperous mega city called Babylon were the Persian-Zoroastrians, who finally gained full control of Babylon during the Darius period. Alexander the “Great” conquered Babylon and killed the “brains” behind Babylon’s great prosperity which resulted in the fall of Babylon. The Persian-Zoroastrians must rise from the ashes and rebuild their great city of Babylon.

Darius wasn’t king of Babylon he was king of Persia. Babylon was its own empire and was conquered by Cyrus the Great (who allowed the Jews to rebuild the Temple in Yerushalem). Darius had Persepolis built purposefully as the capital of Persia:

We are talking about regime change whether it is admitted or not. The problem is that one has to have a plan in place to replace the mullahs; otherwise, we have another Iraq, Syria, or Afghanistan on our hands. The Only viable alternative is the restoration of the Shah and the Pahlavi dynasty. The Persian people would welcome a constitutional monarchy to replace the Islamic terror they have suffered for the past 40 years.
